ICE’s Field Day in Anaheim (8-16-25) – Updated w/ new videos!

Home Depot, Euclid Car Wash, 8/16/25 “Look at these dangerous guys we caught!”

ICE had themselves a blast Saturday in Anaheim, snatching up innocent people, setting off tear gas for no reason, and showing off that following court orders is just not their thing. Read on, it gets better and much worse. But first, sorry, a little background.

You probably know that more than a month ago, July 11, in response to a lawsuit brought by the ACLU and joined in by LA, Anaheim and Santa Ana, a Federal judge in LA ruled that ICE’s indiscriminate immigration sweeps are unconstitutional and must stop. They cannot randomly grab folks based on how they look, their race, where they are working. They must have a warrant and be looking for a specific person who they have good reason to arrest. This was a temporary restraining order (TRO) which was upheld August 6 by the 9th Circuit.

But would Trump’s ICE, already lawless and hellbent on Stephen Miller’s insane goal of deporting 3000 immigrants a day, follow this order? At first it seemed to slow them down a little, but they pretty quickly began to defy it especially in LA, most spectacularly in the notorious August 7 Westlake Home Depot raid which they called “Operation Trojan Horse” where a crowd of ICE thugs jumped out of a Penske truck (in the manner of a vomiting clown car), kidnapping over a dozen day laborers. (The day after the TRO was upheld!)

But it was even before that that they began defying the TRO in Anaheim – early Saturday morning August 2, they swarmed up to their favorite Home Depot on Brookhurst (between Lincoln and the 5), and grabbed 10 innocent guys looking for work most of whom haven’t been heard from again. (The see-no-evil Anaheim Contigo page pretty much ignored this incident until we rubbed their faces in it. They are being a lot more thorough and honest now.)

That’s when a dozen-or-so young, heroic, autonomous activists began keeping watch on this Home Depot every morning. You can see them out there with a pop-up at Brookhurst and Gramercy, and they can use all your support. This gets us to…

August 16

Yesterday morning the ICE vehicles pulled up to the Brookhurst Home Depot at 9:01 exactly. 7 or 8 unmarked vehicles – unmarked GMC Yukons, a Ford Expedition, a Dodge Durango, a Suburban. Some of them pulled into the Home Depot lot, some of them into the Carl’s Jr just south of there. As the mostly masked, heavily armed, uniformed thugs poured out of the vehicles, some of the activists overheard, on one of their walkie-talkies, “Just grab whoever you can.” Which is what they did. Unconstitutionally and against court orders.

One of the activists dialed 911, because that is what you should do now. If the local police come, quickly, that COULD be a good thing, but even if they don’t, the idea (as an attorney told us at the Anaheim Democrats Club) the 911 call makes a good record for any future legal action.

But for some reason it was not the APD that showed up, but the OC Sheriffs, and when it was too late. The Sheriff deputies drove around the lot for a while, and somebody said they were WEARING MASKS which was really weird – the Sheriffs wearing masks as though they were wannabe-ICE? – but we don’t have that on video.

One day-laborer the volunteers have come to know, Amado, who actually came and spoke at the last Council meeting, was one of the five kidnapped from Home Depot yesterday. Amado has cancer for which he takes a daily medication, so they are trying hard to track down where he may be, to make sure he gets that. (Update – reportedly Amado signed his deportation papers and is now probably in TJ, hopefully getting his meds.)

Real brave shit.

From their great success grabbing five day-laborers at Home Depot, the agents moved on to their second favorite Anaheim spot, the Euclid Carwash right by the Norm’s on La Palma. Here they made a huge scene, tear gas and all, which has been all over TV and social media, but they DIDN’T MANAGE TO CATCH ANY “carwash-eros” (yes, that’s what they’re called) because they were STYMIED BY…….

The Mexican Paul Revere!

On Saturday I heard an (apparently) Mexican friend of these Home Depot day-laborers tell about what he did that morning as ICE left: He had a feeling ICE would be hitting up the Euclid Carwash next and wanted to get a warning to them, but had no phone! (I don’t know why he didn’t ask the volunteers for a phone.)

So he RAN to another carwash – which looks like it was probably the one by the Chevron at Lincoln and Brookhurst, and called from THERE to warn the Euclid Carwash. So those carwasheros were ready to make themselves scarce by the time ICE got there.

OK, now we have video/audio from the person who HEARD from the Mexican Paul Revere:

BUT that is not the ONLY thing that stymied ICE at the Euclid Carwash. There were crowds of customers and bystanders waiting to give them the hostile greeting Anaheim gives ICE, and most notably:

Yesterday’s Civil Rights Hero

A gray-haired black gentleman, there to wash his car, reportedly chewed out the thugs at such length, and slowed them down, that they ended up tackling him and arresting him. We would like to know who this gentleman is and where he is… (Update – on Sunday KCAL reported that his name is Isaac Dominguez, he was arrested for MAKING A GESTURE like he was gonna throw a water bottle at the agents, and he was released Sunday six hours later – KCAL VIDEO/interview at bottom of story.)

In any case Mr. Dominguez was the only person ICE managed to arrest at the Euclid Carwash – an innocent bystander sticking up for the workers – and so, in their frustrated rage, they felt tear-gassing the crowd was also necessary.

Try to ignore the woman repeating “Oh my Gaw” and “estupido”

Meet the Brave ICE Patriots! *sarcasm*

Let’s take a look at some of these brave patriots *sarcasm* protecting America from an elderly black guy who cares about the Constitution and a cancer-ridden Mexican looking for work. Surprise – they don’t all wear masks any more, but mostly they do:

Hey! This ass looks familiar!

All dolled up and ready to go!

NOBODY turned down!

DEI for devil-worshipers with porn-staches!

Tell me these douchebags don’t beat their wives. If they have one.

They say some of these guys start to have second thoughts.
And maybe something Isaac Dominguez said got to this one.

Trump Tear-Gasses Anaheim.

What are the reasons to deploy tear gas? Maybe you can think of a few more, but offhand there’s 1. to get a dangerous person out of a closed space (after a warning), and 2. to disperse (what the law considers to be) a dangerous group of people (after a warning.) Well, now we can add: to express your FRUSTRATION that you didn’t get any “illegals” and that everybody in this town seems to hate you. (And NOT give a warning.)

It was appropriate that this assault on central Anaheim happened right outside the popular, classic restaurant NORM’S (which never closes.) Because Trump’s and ICE’s flouting of the norms is something that they hope we will eventually accept as NORMAL. Pero no. We will NEVER NORMALIZE THIS.

Update Monday:

KCAL News interviews Isaac “Civil Rights Hero” Dominguez

(Vince Sarmiento and Jessie Lopez got to Home Depot around 10:30, a little after I left to alert some of the Democrats rallying against Trump at Pearson Park, as well as Anaheim Councilpeople Kristen Maahs and Carlos Leon – whose district this was in.   They did show up.  Around noon.  Right as we were hearing that ICE was now at a carwash at State College and La Palma which we haven’t verified.)
