Focus on the 68th A.D. Democratic Assembly Delegate candidates

What fun!  The Democrats get to vote again on Jan. 10 and 11, for their Assembly Delegates.  We already wrote about the 69th A.D. delegate candidates – now we will focus in this post on the 68th A.D. Delegate candidates.

You have to figure that Paul Lucas, who is running with his given first name of “John,” has a solid chance of winning due to his name I.D. and his popularity with the Teamsters.  Other men who are running include:

  • William “Gus” Ayer – this would be a nice consolation prize for this progressive, who served on the Fountain Valley City Council until his defeat this past November.
  • Marcelo Reyes – An attorney.  He was on the Executive Board member of OC Latinos
    for Obama.
  • Kevin Carr – He has served for years as “1st Vice chair of the 68th AD Committee.”
  • Benigno “Benny” Diaz – Our good friend Benny is a longtime LULAC activist and he is the Sergeant at Arms for the DPOC.
  • Nathan Gonzalez – He did not file a statement.  I have no idea who he is.
  • Christopher Hill – He says he is a civil engineer.  OK.  I have never heard of him either.
  • Van Le – A voter outreach coordinator for the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community
    Alliance  (OCAPICA).
  • Jamison Power – He is a law student at UCLA.
  • Rajiv Randeo – He says he wants more green jobs.
  • Erik Sjobeck – Another Obama guy.
  • Erik Stoyanoff – He says he has worked on three campaigns.
  • Terence Truong – He says he was a founding member of UCI’s Young Democrats.
  • Sean Thomas – Another Obama guy.
  • Nick Veach – Yet another Obama guy.
  • William Wood – He is a a senior technical writer and public relations consultant.  He says he lives in Costa Mesa.

Now on to the women candidates:

  • Tammy Tran – She is the District Director for the  “only Democratic State Senator in Orange County
    California State Senator Lou Correa.”
  • Tram Linh Ho – Aha!  I told you her name was “Tram!”  Now she is finally using her full name.  She ran for the Garden Grove City Council this year and lost.
  • KimChi Nguyen – Public Affairs Coordinator for Saigon Broadcasting Television Network.  But she used to work for Assemblyman Jose Solorio until she quit to work on the ill-fated Hoa Van Tran campaign.
  • Michelle “Misha” Houser – She ran Robin Marcario’s campaign for the Garden Grove City Council.  She writes for the Liberal OC.  She also worked on the ill-fated Hoa Van Tran campaign.
  • Craig J. Beauchamp – her statement says that she is a progressive named “Craig.”  Other than that, I have no idea who this lady is.
  • Sandra Reed – She says she was raised in Garden Grove.
  • Denise Velasco – She says she has been a a labor organizer for over 6 years since she graduated from UC Berkeley.

Is it just me or do the women in this race have far more name I.D. than the guys?  Voters may vote for six men and six women.  Good luck all!
