The city police in every OC city practice this with people who might need to be 5150’d for their (or our) protection. If the length of time it takes to process the prisoner exceeds the length of time left on their shift (no OT authorized for this)they drive to their nearest border and drop the “street-crazy” off for that city to deal with.
This time of year they add “Merry Christmas!”
The Irvine police keep the city in the top places of safety on national polls. This little video made me laugh because it really does seem like they have two main issues: escorting the bums away from Irvine and pulling over ANYONE for any slight reason.
They have had interesting police issues like that crazed Mormon Doctor that had an arms and arsenal stashed underground in his Woodbridge backyard ( must have been quite a feat. For anyone who is not aware, the housing there has teeny-tiny “yards” in Woodbridge)and the plague-grade biohazards in the guy’s fridge a few years back…
