Well, apparently our blog mistress, Sarah Spinosa, is moving on and taking Thomas Gordon and Carl Overmeyer with her. I wish them luck. I have taken chances over the years as a blogger. Some of them have worked out and others have not. Over all, Sarah did a lot of good design work for us and I am appreciative. I was never able to compensate her, but that was not because I did not appreciate her work. Thanks Sarah for your past contributions. I hope things work out for you.
Thomas Gordon and I have had a falling out of late. I am not happy with his choice of allies (the “Usual Suspects”) and he is not happy about that. I hope he figures things out. Santa Ana is a mess and the “Usual Suspects” are a big part of that.
As for Carl, I don’t really know him that well. He has a different concept as to what a blog should be. I wish him good luck in figuring that out elsewhere.
The Orange Juice has always thrived by being diverse and by allowing many points of view. We try to make a difference by exposing the B.S. that most politicians get away with. We are always looking to add to our blog team. If you are interested email me and let me know. Thank you.
Wow. 8 months later and on my way out you finally thank me in a post, not an afterthought. How classy. Had you done this a few months ago we wouldn’t be where we’re at. And you NEVER appreciated poor Thomas.

And by the way. I AM sorry it had to be this way. Unfortunately, the design belonged to me and as we all know, it’s easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission, so I took it back. I do appreciate what Art did for me, even if it was less than he’d like to admit, and even though he seems incapable of ever admitting fault for anything, let alone apologizing, but *I* apologize for what I felt I had to do.
Again, since I didn’t take anything from this site that isn’t mine (and restored a fully-functional former layout), I hope it’s clear that I intended to keep my integrity in this situation. I hope we’ll look back and laugh at this someday. This is strictly business. I wish things had worked out differently, and despite my anger at the moment, I hope things work out for the best for everyone involved. I’ve asked Art to keep me on as an occasional author. We’ll see how he reacts, but I just don’t want to be overlooked anymore, nor do my fellow bloggers at the new site. If Art decides to have nothing to do with me, remember, I put my heart and soul and many all-nighters) into this site at the detriment of my own health and financial situation) and I hope people don’t overreact, but people are going to do what they want to do.

Art: Don’t sweat it. SMS was horrible from day 1, and Thomas got lazy. Who’s Carl?
I just want to say one thing on the record, I’ve never seen anyone be so patient and supportive of someone as Art has been of Sarah over these months.
And I look forward to a less-cluttered design.
Does this mean we won’t have to read anymore whiney little posts about “poor little me” and smiley faces? Damn. What a shame-NOT! Talk about a drama queen.
The response time from post to post and post to comments and back to post on my screen is much more rapid this AM than it has been in weeks. Perhaps a more simple design has this benefit? If so, I am for simple.

I agree. It is not so bogged down. I’ve been able to move from post to post quickly. Simple is good and underrated 😉
Coming together at the Cosby would still be a good thing for everyone. It’s easier to flame away on line at someone you haven’t met over a drink and don’t recognize as a neighbor. It’s good for Vern, a truly superb musician accustomed to rock-god attention from fawning elderly groupies at his concerts, to keep his ego in check when he’s “surrounded by NRA types”. (Carl isn’t really that scary, is he?) It’s not good to divide up into like-minded little communities and create myths about one another.
And suddenly my back arrow works on this blog!
accustomed to rock-god attention from fawning elderly groupies at his concerts
Hey, they’re not all elderly… and NRA guys are welcome too (Thomas came once)
For the record, the speed of the comment posting has nothing to do with the design. The design is inconsequential. Thanks though guys, just goes to show that I was right about people never really understanding what I do behind the scenes.

Art, Sounds like a disgruntled employee assuming the credit for everything as the door slams shut behind them.. All to familiar in the business world. Keep up the good work and site looks good
Can we now un-ban every commenter except Fiala and Lucas? I know Jubal has been obnoxious but I liked arguing with him…
Hey Daniel –
Check the bottom of the right sidebar. Guess what? This design is mine as well. Thank you for so easily proving my point about being under appreciated. I REALLY couldn’t have said it better myself.

Vern –
That’s not what you were saying when I was in charge. Nice. You know, I can see the muffler from under here.

I enjoy Jubal. I never agree with him.
I get a thrill when Gustavo A shows up, too. I like the ass-kicking he gives pedophile priests over at the OC Weekly.
That’s not what you were saying when I was in charge.
?? Dunno what you’re referring to, ex-juice-sister. I did object to banning Jubal when it first happened, but Art sided with you. I am being Mister Diplomacy today.
Vern –
I beg to differ, but either way, I’m not your ‘ex’-juice sister. I’m still around and I’ll probably pen a piece from time to time, but I am no longer an editor. In case you didn’t know, Art and I worked that part out for everyone’s benefit. If anyone here needs me, I’ll still be around; I’m just not going to jump through hoops anymore so others can get credit for my work.

Sarah, when do you start posting at your new site?
I was pretty suprised with your up and leaving. it sounded like you wanted to just move on and be done with all the disappointments.
Art,
I do like the fact now, once the site opens, you don’t have to scroll to the bottom to read the blog entries. Just my preference. I prefer less clutter.
I’ll email you later with my thoughts on possibly being an anonymous blogger.
No one cares about the design of a blog. They simply care about content. Nothing personal towards SMS, but after reading a post or two of hers, I started to skip them over. This blog will be much better without her posts. Hopefully, she can find an outlet in her new blog. If she took Thomas, some people may actually read it.
I’ll miss some of Thomas’ rants! I generally disagree with him, but always liked his posts.
By the way, it’s weird to be able to read openly about all of the dysfunction amongst these bloggers. Grow up guys!
Art,
New webmaster now? How about archiving the current SAUSD thread — it’s too looooooooooonng — and start it anew.
And, wait’ll the checks from the state start reflecting the 2.5 bill. mid-year budget cut for schools, and SAUSD goes into panic mode and start doing some really stupid things. This site is going to be jumpin’! Let’s get it ready.
#21 Curious,
By the way, it’s weird to be able to read openly about all of the dysfunction amongst these bloggers. Grow up guys!
Heh, if you only REALLY knew! 😉
But come on, admit it: one of the reasons you read this blog is for the curiosity factor that is unique to OJ.

The archives have been arranged by year and I imagine a new thread will be set up by Art January 1, 2009.
This year’s thread has been long, but not as shocking and not as highly posted-to as past years.
I think the budget situation is going to get very dark and ugly with the missing revenues, declining enrollment and additional tax burdens forced on residents.
Any speculation how SAUSD will try and cope? Maybe hire a couple more administrators and Axe out say, food service?

‘I just want to say one thing on the record, I’ve never seen anyone be so patient and supportive of someone as Art has been of Sarah over these months.‘
Please, you know nothing of what was going om behind the scenes, so quit revising history. Besides, that aspect of it is none of your business anyway frankly. Of all the bloggers here I worked with, you were the biggest complainer.
‘I don’t like the colors.’
‘I want comment numbers and I want them now.’
‘Upload this song for me.’
‘I want to screw with the polls and you won’t let me!’
‘I want you to run this blog without my input… unless I feel like giving it and then you should listen.’
Waahhh!!!!! Who are you? The King of bloggers? You’ve had so many complaints about Art, me, and this blog, so please don’t try to position yourself as the voice of reason. THAT person has left the building.

Is it me, or is all of this a bit nuts?
Wow this is all a little bit much. I know that I’m a nobody around here but still I like you all and think this kind of blows!!
Oh I was previously known as Yeah Ok..from this day forward I will only post under the name above which is what most people call me. I kinda like using my real name its cool.
Em,
Good for you! And yes it is a bit much. But life goes on. And so will this blog!
Thanks for your continued support.
tmare,
It is a bit nuts.
America…..it is a wonderful country! The Emancipation Proclamation has been signed: “Free Again…..Great God Almighty…we are Free Again!”
Yay EM! I was tired of addressing “Yeah OK”
Sarah, go gently, gently…
Its like the new and but no improvement needed Vern haha
“We are not responsible for what our readers write.”
Thing is, you have edited comments in the past that you decided were not “germane” to the subject of the post. Would you say that calling Thomas an “immigrant basher” was germane to the post?
I guess this is what SMS was referring to when she mentioned the arbitrary nature of your management.
