We’re a week past Thanksgiving and down to the turkey leftovers of ballots. Here’s a too-late guide. But first: headlines!
Headlines:
- Applegate concedes defeat; announces that he’ll run again in 2018!
- Newman’s lead reaches 2,223. Good number — let’s stop there!
- Alvarez’s margin over Cano in SAUSD dips from 70 to 66 — no danger
- Martinez stalls out behind Do
- Anaheim District 1 frozen in amber
- Moreno reaches 35.9733415995%, up from 35.96865544%, on 15 new votes tallied. Margin remains at 73
- Measure OO lead drops from 11 to -5
* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any |
BEFORE:
| Issa | 47,578 | 107,461 | 155,039 | 50.3217% | |
| Applegate | 31,054 | 122,003 | 153,057 | 49.6783% |
NOW:
| Issa | 47,634 | 107,548 | 155,182 | 50.3236% | |
| Applegate | 31,088 | 122,098 | 153,186 | 49.6764% |
Issa loses 8 votes in San Diego on 182 counted, but gains 22 in OC, 56-34. That’s just wrong.

LA votes came in heavily today — and barely affected the race.
BEFORE:
| Chang | 117,315 | 15,541 | 23,917 | 156,773 | 49.6551% |
| Newman | 120,442 | 13,188 | 25,321 | 158,951 | 50.3449% |
NOW:
| Chang | 117,370 | 15,565 | 24,574 | 157,509 | 49.6113% |
| Newman | 120,528 | 13,226 | 26,223 | 159,977 | 50.3887% |
Newman blasts past the 3/4 of a point win line to about 7/9 of a point. Margin: 2,468 — who do we appreciate? OC margin is 3,158.
Newman picks up 86 in OC to Chang’s 55, 38 in Chino Hills to Chang’s 24 — and 902 in LA to her 736! Someone predicted that LA would go into beast mode today, but I can’t remember who….
* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any |
Alvarez’s lead of 70 slips down to 66. Only 36 votes were counted, though. It must be damaged ballots time.
* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any |
Do picks up 44 to Michelle’s 43, and that’s the end of any upset comeback hopes.
* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any |
With only 14 votes counted, there is very little news possible here. Maybe if one broke in half….
* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any |
Margin is stable at 73 with 15 votes counted. Moreno goes from 35.96865544% to 35.9733415995%. We’re thinking of calling this one.

From yesterday:
“‘NO’ has been getting about 2/3 of the votes recently. So they’d need about 16 or 17 more votes to win.”
Today, 36 new votes were tallied. That’s not keeping up the tension levels! Of course “NO” pulls ahead, by 5. And we are gone.
We’ll do WHAT’S LEFT TO COUNT? tomorrow, if someone reminds us…..
UPDATE, 12/1: NO ONE DID, so to hell with it!
I’m still recovering from DA-Tony getting re-elected as OCDA. I got my revenge of sorts. Few people know the real behind the scenes of this years elections and the real how and why involved in the Democrats getting their Super-majority. Well, lets just say it’s a hairdresser thing. I got to see Greg Diamond this weekend at Senator Josh Newman’s swearing in event. Josh will do us all proud.
I’ll give that information as to how hairdressers got the Democrats to have their Super-majority. It would be bad form to place that complete information openly out there without first consulting with Greg first. Let’s just say I got some politicians blown away by what I did this election year. The OC Republicans by there actions ie. Tony the DA and Assemblyman Bill Brough placed my child in harms way due to some laws they were pushing…
I saved my son’s life twice because I was there to do so (no thanks to the OC Republicans), but because of kicking me out of public places ie parks and beaches they violated my rights as a parent and my child’s safety…Yes, it’s personal. I harness every hairstylist and hair salon in selected districts to give the Democrats their victory one hairdresser and salon at a time!!!
NEVER underestimate the POWER of the mouth of a hairdresser! I gave the why but later with Greg’s consent I’ll give the how…
As I recall Robert, everything you did was as a freelance volunteer, so you can talk about whatever you’d like!
