CITY OF ANAHEIM Member, City Council, District 1
Completed Precincts: 30 of 30
Vote Count Percentage
DENISE BARNES 2,590 28.0%
STEVEN CHAVEZ LODGE 2,407 26.0%

FREDDY FITZGERALD CARVAJAL 244 2.6%

It’s not just that Barnes’s lead over Lodge grew from 133 to 183; it’s that Lodge’s lead over Lahtinen fell from 448 to 436.  But note that only 618 votes were counted since Friday in this district.  Also note that the two pro-subsidy candidates got a combined 47.3% of the vote while the five anti-subsidy candidates got 52.6%.

CITY OF ANAHEIM Member, City Council, District 3
Completed Precincts: 20 of 20

LINDA LOBATOS 531 5.9%

* Indicates Incumbent Candidate, if any

Brandman’s lead over Moreno falls from 312 to 279 — that’s 33 votes — on 947 votes counted.  At that rate, he’d need about 8,000 more votes in the district to pass Brandman, which is unlikely.  Moreno’s vote-gain per vote-counted ratio might be about to improve, though, as we move to provisionals — although we may not know those initial results until Wednesday.

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
