That is one highly talented bear!

That is one highly talented bear!

I’ve been given the go-ahead from the Kamala Harris juggernaut — uh, I mean campaign — to announce tomorrow’s public GET OUT THE VOTE rally for JOSH NEWMAN!

(Given my role in the Harris campaign, I also hope that you vote for Kamala as well as for Josh!  But, even if you’re pro-Loretta, come on out anyway!)

In other Newman News, he has a message for you:  SEND HIM MONEY!  You’re about to see why!

Last week, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series after 108 years of futility. It was an incredible victory that went into extra innings and then came down to the final out.

My campaign for the California State Senate is now in the bottom of the 9th as well. The seat I’m contesting here in Senate District 29 has been held for more than 25 straight years by classic “Orange Curtain” Republicans.  Now, with just over 48 hours remaining until the polls close on Tuesday, we stand on the verge of changing all that and making our own bit of history.

Since announcing last Fall and then sneaking up on the Insiders in the June primary, we’ve come an incredibly long way.  But, as we sprint through the final days in one last push to connect with voters and get people to the polls, I need just a little more help.

Between my own efforts and the support of the California Democratic Party, my campaign has now raised (and spent) more than $2,000,000 in what has become the most expensive state legislative race in California.  That might sound like a ton of money (because it is), until you consider that my opponent and the special interests behind her have now spent more than $5,000,000 (!).

That would be astounding enough in its own right, even if a huge share of that total hadn’t gone toward spreading lies and defaming me personally. It’s been a bracing initiation into big-time politics, to say the least.

I’ve now done pretty much everything I can do, and between the results of recent polls and a huge outpouring of support, we have every reason to be optimistic.

We now just need to raise a remaining $8,000 to cover our GOTV effort.

Can you make one last contribution, even if it’s modest?  It will be immensely appreciated, as well as hugely helpful.

I’m very proud of this effort, and I remain incredibly grateful to everyone for all the encouragement and support.

Can you believe how negative he’s being?  (Aaaagggghhhhh!, “Death-Spiral Dave” Gilliard is now beaming thoughts directly into my brain!  And hello to the anonymous dementers at Lib OC who will pretend to take that statement seriously!)  The emphasis is orange is mine, as is the coloring of the incredibly huge numbers in the text.  Being outspent by $3 million — as well as by 150% — and still positioned to win?  You really get the sense that if anyone can go to the State Senate and still come back modest and pleasant, it will be Josh Newman.

Josh is also announcing a victory party, but I won’t announce that until sometime Tuesday — when we can say goodbye to Trailing Ling Chang!

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
