Dishonest and now-Disgusting Dave Gilliard — sponsor of Matt “Feed me, Master, please!” Cunningham’s “OKDaly” blog, lest we forget! — probably couldn’t pull a needle out of his contoured bottom without a tractor right now. He took ALL THAT MONEY to tarnish Irvine City Council candidate Farrah Khan — and she keeps on thriving! All he’s doing is pissing off more voters and making them wonder if they should even put a second vote in for Melissa Fox, who has been conspicuously absent from her colleague and competitor’s defense. (Anyone who has evidence to the contrary that Fox is lifting a finger to show Democratic solidarity, please pass it on — I’ve looked for it and haven’t seen it.
This should END — if it hadn’t already done so — the question of whether it makes sense to vote for poor used-and-abused candidate Shiva Faravar, who is being used by some oafs and demi-oafs to convince people not to vote for Khan. SHIVA FARAVAR IS IN NO POSITION TO WIN OR DAVE GILLIARD WOULD BE SPENDING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MONEY AGAINST HER AS WELL! (I mean, hell, with her name he could go racist on her using both Hindu and Muslim attacks — and if there’s one thing that Gilliard seems to love more than making up fake stories about “underpants” it’s a nice chewy racist attack!)
Here, take a look at Disgusting Dave’s “Late Independent Expenditure” numbers and see if you can find the names “Faravar” OR “Fox.” Only ONE of the candidates is in any position to get in the way of Dave Gilliard’s no doubt increasingly grumpy funders, and her name is FARRAH KHAN!

I HOPE to have time to explain why Dishonest Dave is going after Roman Reyna — but I’m too busy protecting VULNERABLE ANTI-POSEIDON CANDIDATES RIGHT NOW, ROMAN! (Learn who your friends are!)
Look, Irvine voters — and this goes for the rest of you as well. This year, to an especially horrific degree (now that they’ve really figures out how to make use of Citizens United), major donors like Disney in Anaheim, Dwight Manley in Brea, and Developers of various stripes giving to Gilliard to screw up Irvine AND Costa Mesa are going wild stuffing kite-sized, lying and insinuation-packed, glossy mailers into your mailbox. And this makes your job as a voter REALLY EASY!
If you see a mailer like that — especially if it’s from the California Homeowners Association — JUST VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE BEING ATTACKED! At a minimum, you’ll be helping to rebalance karma by compensating for the vote some poor sap who believes everything they read so long as it’s bigger than their head.
And in Irvine this year, that means that you REJECT the disgusting and racist mailers and VOTE FOR FARRAH KHAN!
It’s the only way to make sure that the disappointed and ANGRY big donors “discipline” Disgusting Dave Gilliard for blowing their election. And, seriously, that is something we should ALL want to see after this godforsaken political year!

Two days ago, Melissa Fox posted the following statement on her Facebook page:
“The attacks on Farrah N. Khan based on her religious beliefs and ethnicity are despicable and should be denounced by all residents of Irvine, especially all other candidates, and I condemn them without reservation. Irvine is blessed to be among the most diverse and fully integrated cities in the nation. There are no ethnic, linguistic, religious, or cultural enclaves in Irvine: every neighborhood reflects Irvine’s harmonious ethnic, linguistic, religious, and cultural diversity. That is the Irvine I love. Those responsible for these ugly attacks on Farrah based on her religion and ethnicity are adverse to what makes Irvine such a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. They should be ashamed of themselves.”
Good.
Is she still working with Shiva Faravar, knowing that Farrah can win the seat and Shiva can’t? Because if she thinks that Farrah is mainly her competition for the second place slot, and she wants to freeze her out, then it does raise the question of why Gilliard isn’t attacking her as well.
“There are no ethnic, linguistic, religious, or cultural enclaves in Irvine”
Ha, that’s funny.
Damn, that slipped by me. That IS funny! She needs to get out more.
Maybe you ought to disclose that every candidate you promote is your daughter’s client. She helps pay the rent right?
Thanks, dear coward, for the opportunity to make a disclosure.
Yeah, she does pay her share of the rent. And she’d be able to do so even if she worked in a different job. (She has a second job that she could do full-time if the need arose.) She doesn’t need her candidates to win for her to pay rent — although she is privileged to work for, pretty much exclusively, candidates whom she does want to win.
It’s not remotely true that I endorse or promote only candidates whom she (or, more broadly, her now-three-person firm) represents. To the extent that it’s true that she represents candidates that I endorse, that’s mostly because she represents almost exclusively Democrats and I am usually constrained to endorse only Democrats. (So that’s real sinister there!) It’s also the case that I don’t actually know most of who she represents. In the past, her firm has represented Melissa Fox, for example; I don’t know if they do now — and I don’t care. I’m going to say the same things about Melissa either way. And Melissa is adult and rational enough to decide to let my daughter or her business partner work for her if it makes sense, without worrying about me.
It is true that it turns out that some of the candidates about who I’m most excited DO end up hiring her firm — but I don’t usually know it in advance. I didn’t know that she represented Diana Carey, for example — but I was delighted to find out that she did. Same with Farrah Khan — I think that she may have mentioned it but I hadn’t paid attention to it because it didn’t matter to me. As I saw more of what Farrah did as a candidate, I got more enthusiastic — and after that is when I realized the link.
If you think that I support Jose Moreno over Jordan Brandman, or Bao Nguyen over Lou Correa, because their payments theoretically defray some small portion of my rent — rather than ON THE MERITS — then you’re an idiot who apparently hasn’t read much of my writing over the years.
And now come the time for me to tell you to Go to Hell, because I don’t really like typing Fuck Off as many times as I’m going to have to say it right now to your ragged ass.
When I encouraged her to try working as a campaign Treasurer five or so years ago, she was 20 or so and not that interested in politics or political debate. I told her that she didn’t have to debate anyone to be politically active (although by now she’s perfectly capable of it when she chooses), and that there were lots of other ways to serve. For example, I told her, my perception was that there was a lack of affordable campaign Treasurers for Democratic candidates — and that by providing good services at a reasonable price she would be doing more to help good Democrats win office than a whole bunch of yammering people like me. Then she was lucky enough to find that, following the Kindee Durkee scandal, Tammi McIntyre wanted to open a firm to do this more broadly than she previously had. They already knew each other slightly through me and got along well, because my daughter (like her younger sister) is basically devoid of prejudice, so she agreed to give it a try.
It turned out that they were a great team — and that their clients by and large very much appreciated them (and still do.) And it turned out that there was even more of a need for those sorts of services than I had imagined. And so lots of Democrats (and a stray independent or two) have found that they could relatively inexpensively take care of a part of running for office that is seriously daunting. (I don’t know if I could have done it without her, and I didn’t even raise all that much.) Her taking to the profession like a duck to water, and helping Tammi grow her own business, has been a wonderful thing for the local party. I’m very proud and even somewhat thrilled at the relatively small role I played in bringing their firm into existence. And I know a whole lot of decent politicians who would agree. The ones who aren’t decent, by the way — a Solorio, Correa, Daly, or Pulido, among others — usually keep their distance from her anyway because they don’t want to be associated with me, which is a real bonus for both her and for me! That “self-selection” on the part of clients is the other reason that there is a correlation between her clients and candidates I like — they are discouraged from hiring anyone associated with me, because I don’t like them. And yet there are consultants with whom I disagree, ones who work with some of the above, who work very well with my daughter’s firm and send lots of business her way. That’s fine! I’ll still slam their other clients if I think it’s right, or even her clients if I think it’s right — but my serving as a sort of “wolfsbane” for her work is a happy (if unexpected) result of my stances.
Now, I have to wonder, why did you write this comment? (This is going to be the “GO TO HELL” part.)
Not, I presume, because you think that I actually favor candidates because her firm handles them — there are some clients of theirs with whom I am literally barely on speaking terms. (But I want her to do her job well even with them, because that’s what it means to be a professional.) If you do think so, then go to hell.
Likely, I presume, because it’s an easy way to cast doubt on the independence of my thinking about them. (Chumley does this all of the time, I presume because that is what HE would do in my position — in other words, it’s projection. He fundamentally does not get the idea that some people take positions, even ones to their personal financial detriment, not because they get paid off but because they actually BELIEVE in things and in people. So, go to hell.
Probably, I presume, because you (like all of the anonymous commenters at Lib OC and Anaheim Blog and sometimes Pedrozaville and even here) think that my feelings are easily hurt by being smacked at by anonymous operatives. You’re one of those, so go to hell.
Perhaps because you are either not a Democrat yourself and want to disrupt the smooth operation of the local Democratic Party, to which my daughter’s firm contributes — in which event, go to hell — or because you’re from the faction of the local Democratic party that cares pretty much only about its own small, scabrous, and corrupt core of insiders, in which event GO TO HELL. (Although, when you’re sadly sitting by yourself wondering what you’ve made of your life, sucking up to political oligarchs and ogres, you probably already have at least a toe in hell already.)
Finally, you may be one of those people — Chumley is one of them, and someday his children may discover what sort of an asshole HE is — who want to make my daughter unhappy because you think that badgering her it’s a good way to get to me. And, if so, then FUCK YOU!
(Sorry — that was supposed to be “go to hell,” of course.)
Thanks the enjoyable break; it has really pumped me up to get back to blogging!
You are one presumptuous mother fucker.
Oh, look — it’s the “Adam and Norberto’s balls in your mouth” guy calling me “presumptuous.”
You’re darling! And look what a rise you’ve gotten out of me! Why, I can barely type a word!
