Kobe on His Last Leg and Torn Rotator

Kobe down.

*Kobe Bryant has done more in his NBA career than anyone might have ever expected.  Kobe single-handedly facilitated Pau Gasol and some other fine Laker players to the NBA Championship in 2009.  Today, after scoring more than 32,000 NBA points and ranking 3rd in NBA history it probably wouldn’t be totally disappointing for Kobe to retire with honor.  We understand that Kobe wanted one more National Championship, but it has become more than obvious that the pieces are not there in the Laker organization to achieve that goal this year or next……the last year of his contract.

Having said that; Laker Byron Scott had already reduced Kobe’s playing time due to the rehab from last years Achilles problem.  Father Time seems to have written Kobe a short note:  Time to rest up big guy!  Let’s face it, Professional Sports in general is brutal, no matter what sport you are engaged in from track and field to swimming, to baseball, football or even snowboarding as Shaun White found out last night in Aspen, Colorado.  Kobe has been incredibly blessed, lucky and is still considered one of the NBA wonder players.  His years of excellence have not been marginalized by either his competition with Shack O’Neill or even the accuser in Denver, Colorado.  Kobe’s luck has been amazing!  Playing on the the great Olympic Teams and together with his many individual accomplishments and Championships….perhaps he can spend more time eventually playing golf at Pelican Hills with the other rich and famous.

The time has come for Kobe to become the successful businessman that everyone expects of him.  He soon will be opening offices in Newport Beach and in addition will be pursuing a greater role for his Foundation work; “The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation”.  Perhaps Kobe will do some “Cameo Performances” on Sports Center with Shaq and Charles – or doing Investigative Reporting with Bryant Gumbel….on Real Sports for HBO!  Who knows what the future may truly hold for one of the greats of the game.  Our dream is that Kobe takes the short money and allows the LA Lakers their space.  Someday, perhaps the Lakers will ask Kobe back to fill an important role in the Laker  Management Organization.  If not, we will certainly find fault with the Laker organization and leadership for their total lack of vision.  But then, the Lakers did get rid of Jerry West and Phil Jackson who are still considered supreme members of the NBA knowledge and intelligence.

We do warn you that his shoes are expensive!  To Kobe, Vanessa and the entire Bryant Family and Friends we wish them every good success, but Kobe save your self and your fans – answer the memo from Father Time –  We need to retire in 2015!  We actually need to retire….today!

Kobe may be on his last leg and torn rotator, but we still love him!  One last reminder Kobe:  Even Brett Favre retired…finally!
