Happy Thanksgiving, beautiful people! Hey, we haven’t had an open thread in nearly a month, that will not stand, let’s remedy that situation. Furthermore, this just came across our “transom,” from a new group called OC Action, and it sounds like a good guide as we go forth to shop (or not) this Black Friday weekend:
Whether you work in the field or an office, run a small business or a kitchen, raise children or are grinding through school – your hard work fuels the 4th largest economy in the world. The California you’ve built should work for you – not billionaires and corporations.
Small businesses, workers, and families like yourself keep our state running, not the billionaires. Our wallets should support the people who treat us with respect, pay fair wages, and reinvest in our communities.
That’s why today we’re launching Buy California For California, a campaign to use our buying power to support community over cruelty.
Until the end of the year, we’re asking you to boycott businesses that profit from our pain and instead spend your hard-earned cash on the people from our neighborhoods, who really fuel our cities, care for their workers, treat customers with respect, and reinvest in their community.
As part of the national We Ain’t Buying it campaign, we are boycotting these three corporations for enabling Trump’s attacks on our communities and democracy:
- Amazon, for paying a fraction of what they owe in taxes while our communities are starved of health and other resources
- Home Depot, for colluding with ICE raids and kidnappings ,
- Target, for caving to Trump’s attacks on diversity and inclusion
Our dollars should reflect our values and support the real ones. The ones running the kitchens where generations of cooks feed our communities (yes chef); the artisans honing their craft on workbenches from the Bay to San Diego; the designers and textile workers that keep us clothed, and the community leaders that dare to dream boldly, no exceptions.
We know how hard you work to make a living, and where we spend our extra pocket cash matters. That’s why working people are uniting to take back our economic power. We’re putting pressure on these billion-dollar corporations at a time when they expect to profit the most. We’re done with them having a revolving door to the White House all to promote the policies and actions that are devastating our neighborhoods.
Will you join us in powerful, people-powered resistance? Here’s how:
- Sign the promise to boycott Target, Amazon, and Home Depot from now until the end of the year
- Commit to shopping Buy California For California. Use your hard-earned cash at local shops that make our state special this holiday season
- Uplift local businesses you love and trust, so we can list them on our registry, and others know where to shop too! Let’s build out alternatives to the big corporate box stores enabling Trump’s agenda, so that more people know where to spend. We shop where we get respect!
Sign the promise today and stand with us and the small businesses that build our communities.
We have more power than the billionaires want us to believe. We are California and we’re standing on business.
In solidarity,
Penelope at OC Action

Ada and Katie Porter should share the diet drugs with Ada’s son. They are so mean.
Perhaps Ashleigh Aitken should ditch the former Federal prosecutor moniker now. The DOJ is compromised.

Around the start of the 20th century, Jane Addams and Josephine Shaw Lowell established the National Consumers League. A few years later, Florence Kelley—who had previously worked with Addams at Hull House—became its first general secretary. In Heather Cox Richardson’s Wednesday post, she mentions an important quote from Kelley: “To live means to buy, to buy means to have power, to have power means to have responsibility.”
One principle to consider is boycotting Bezos whenever and however possible. This has become easier in North Orange County now that Barnes & Noble has opened at the intersection of Imperial Highway and the 57. There’s a useful app called Goods Unite Us, which tracks corporate stances on progressive issues. According to the app, Barnes & Noble executives donate to Democrats 98% of the time and strongly advocate for campaign finance reform.
I rely on Goods Unite Us when making choices about everything from shoes to food. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover local businesses, so we have to depend on each other for that information!
Last I checked Ada has only out raised Pulido by $100k, 300k to 200k.
This must be the same 300k that the DPOC must be short of in fundraising so far this year.
Let’s face it Hoffman and Johnson aren’t drumming up many donations during their tenures as the help of the local dem fan club.
Nonetheless, I’m rooting for Pulido!!
As of today, ada Briceno has raised 405k and mark pulled has raised 288k.
My three litmus tests for what kind of Democrats we need in the assembly and state senate (given that we’ve already got a pinche super-majority) are:
Will they vote for stronger rent control? (Cost of living, period, without an extra percentage)
Will they help to whittle away at the police officer bill of rights?
And will they push for single-payer healthcare, a serious bill that spells out the funding.
The Democrat caucus in Sacramento is full of “Democrats” who won’t do those things, we don’t need more.
I could go many paragraphs on my problems with Ada. On a personal level, she voted to uncharter my Club. Yet… I think she’s more likely to vote the right way on the above issues than Pulido. So… impasse. I’m glad that’s not my district.
Pulido came to our Club and was real friendly. Frances Marquez and Derek Tran think the world of him. He is “most qualified” they say… which doesn’t necessarily mean most progressive. I asked him about rent control, he said he’d get back to me, and he still hasn’t.
I’m quite certain Ada Briceno was in on the fake candidacy of Tony Castro that cost Oscar Valadez the election against the odious Ahmad Zahra in ’22. It was orchestrated by her political director, Ajay Mohan, who, not coincidentally, was up to his neck in Scott Markowitz in ’24.
Some people thought a guy named Aaruni Thakur was the mastermind of the Markowitz fiasco and that he had accomplices. He suddenly quit his job on the FSD Board a few months ago for no stated reason. And now Zahra is claiming that he isn’t running for re-election. Of course Zahra has several albatrosses around his neck.
Ah, like I said, there could be many more such paragraphs. Of bad things Ada has done (since 2018 when we thought she was the cat’s pajamas and all of us progressive Dems supported her against Beth Krom to lead the DPOC.)
I keep wanting to list a few things but it would be hard to know where to stop. (And then I would have to include a few paragraphs of good things too.)
And then add that she’s still probably the progressive in the race.
I have never yet met a politician I really had any faith in to do the right thing consistently. There are just degrees of ambition, cupidity, and megalomania.
Progressives especially leaders like Ada are so tolerant of disparate viewpoints in the party aren’t they Vern and they never really follow through on their initiatives. “Do what I say not what I do and if you disagree you are out.” So inclusive and diverse.
Ada “All show, no go” Briceno!
Ada playing tricks. Pray do tell.
Yeah that Muslim Latino collaborative Ada was touting really pushed back against Trump and Ice.
Marc Pulido has raised almost twice as much as the COPD year to date.
That pencil necked twerp pearlman invited me to join his tik tok bulletin board. No thank you.
Clearly some democrats in orange county do not appreciate the right to speak freely.

What do progressives and Jewish Zionists have in common.
1. When you talk on them (or Israel or transgenderism) it’s hate speech but when they talk on you, it’s free speech; and,
2. They sure like trying to cancel folks that don’t share the same beliefs as them.
I think Pearlman quit TikTok or he got booted. Haha. Pencil neck twerp.
Did CNN really need another “white” Jewish news anchor? Not very diverse.
How Jewish is CNN? Wolf is a former AIPAC operative, John King converted to marry Dana Bash, and Chalian – the Armenian – is half Jewish. There are more examples.
Between former law enforcement and intelligence officers and Jewish Zionists as news anchors and contributors
, this outfit is barely a news agency and more a propaganda shop.
OC has a poet laureate. Who knew? Who knew?

Umm, year to date, the ocgop have spend more then the copd has raised. If we are winning, no doubt it’s not because of the copd. They can’t fight themselves out of a paper bag.

What happened to Greg Diamond?
To my understanding, last I heard, he was being held in CECOT, El Salvador. He sent me dozens of missives that I was supposed to print over the last six months, but I just now noticed them in my spam folder. And I am too overwhelmed and busy to post them right now but I’ll get to it.
I guess that means he WON’T be defending GCT in her defense. Methinks Mommy’s going to need to need to take out a loan for her defense!
She stepped in it big time, Pearlman is scrambling along with the Sentinel dude Bixby.
Mardahl! You popped your dirty illiterate little head back up. Thanks for reminding me, I’ve gotta write that piece about you before the year’s over.
My old buddy? He still won’t meet me in person, and I’m a feeble old man.
It’s a holiday in El Salvador.
What was he teaching the locals how to farm?
THE COLD SONG. Written around 2019. From my Songs of the OC Homeless. I finally have a good recording of it – with Annemarie Randle-Trejo singing, and produced by Jacob Cohen! What a team. Eight more songs to go.
Quite dramatic.
I’m not sure but Pearlman may have extracted himself from TikTok over blow back from being drawn in to the Tarvin Twining controversy in HB. He is such a foolish tool.
