SUNDRY OBSERVATIONS:
- Elder has over 50% share of the early VBM vote. Imagine if that holds up in OC — or even statewide? Think that might raise his profile a bit, make him a bit of a hero?
- Nickolas Wildstar, starting out 44th out of 46, has just learned a think or two about how Orange Countians feel about being jilted! YOU ABANDONED US, WILDSTAAAAAR!
- Without his ads in the OJ Blog, I don’t know whether Anthony Trimino even makes it to 1000!
- Looking at their current standings, doesn’t “Steven Chavez Lodge Beating Angelyne” have a ring of plausibility?
- Elder has more than twice as many votes as the top Democratic Kevin, the top Republican Kevin, and Cox combined!
- Among the Democrats, it’s: Bitcoin Paffrath, Recovered Addict Dr. Brandon Ross, Pot Policy Maven Jacqueline McGowan, Seeming Cult Leader Holly Baade, Hate Speech Protecter Daniel Watts, and — coming in just ahead of Caitlin Jenner — Berniecrat Joel Ventresca!

Geez. I guess the California GOP is Larry Elder’s now.
I mourn the loss of a half-sane California GOP. Now proceeds the PRI-ification of the California Dems.
Yikes. I’m a lifelong O.C. resident. Troubling times.
Anyway, just dropping by to add another thanks from me (for pointing me toward Dan Kapelovitz) in another round of elections. I got lost trying to sort out that long second page, and the CA Dems message wasn’t helping.
Glad that “No” won and the anti-vax nonsense didn’t. Yay!
“Bang Bang….the Witch is dead!” “Lola” by the Kinks! “Thousand Miles from Nowhere!”
“It was a Crime of Passion” by Ricky Van Shelton. “Small town Saturday NIght!” “Teardrops” by Santo and Johnny. “They call him the Streak” by Ray Stevens.
If “Larry the Elder” is the best they can do…….2022 is going to be a very tough year
for the Red Star Trump Republicants. See….even Rush Limbaugh could have been
put on the ticket and gotten more votes. We wanted Mary Carey…….but not enough
write-ins to qualify. Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo!
“Where did he go? What did he do? Oh come on Yogi, let’s go down to Jelly Stone Park and Rob Picnic Baskets?” (The Republicants seem to be in great disarray?)
Note that the final Orange County results — including write-in candidates! — have been inserted at the bottom (at least for now) of this post. They are in easy-to-find orange. Kudos to the OCROV for what looks like a well-executed election.
Statewide results look they probably won’t be ready until the 30-day period is over. If you know the Registrar of Voters for San Joaquin county, tell them to get a move on!
Final results are now up. Elder got 3,563,867 votes, 48.5% of the vote in the replacement race, 38.9% more than his nearest rival (Kevin Paffrath), 2,857,089 more votes than his nearest rival, and 5.04 times as many votes as that nearest rival, and 6.04 times as many votes as his nearest Republican rival (Kevin Faulconer).
This could not have happened without Gavin Newsom’s support — so congratulations to Newsom for building up this major threat to Democratic support among minority voters!
Paffrath got 1.8 times as many votes as the next Democrat, the surprising (doctor, lawyer, recovered heroin addict) Brandon Ross. Both of them now have political futures.
The top-ranked non-major-party candidate was 15th-place Dan Kapelovitz, who bested 16th-place Libertarian Jeff Hewitt by almost exactly 14,000 votes and top-ranked NPP (and superannuated nymphet) Angelyne by 18,475.
The third- and fourth-to -last candidates, Republican Nickolas Wildstar and Rhonda Furin, both have OC ties (though Wildstar has moved on to hotter pastures). Republican Steve Chavez Lodge was to top-ranked OC candidate, finishing 28th out of 46, which is not that bad if nobody knows about it. With just a few more ads in Orange Juice Blog, Daniel Mercuri could likely have moved from 37th to 36th in the final rankings, avoiding a spot in the bottom 10, but we still appreciate his patronage, which may have been enough to give Vern the money to buy a taco. (Or not.)
