Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva put up something on Facebook Wednesday and asked people to share it. Well, we can do more than that, Sharon — we can republish it!
On behalf of the educators out here…this next quarter (but probably longer) starts a new chapter in public education. There is a huge learning curve that students, teachers, and district administrators will be navigating, yet again, together!
As we embark on this thing called “eLearning or blended learning”, we are asking our Facebook friends to refrain from publicly scrutinizing their children’s teachers/schools/district for the way they are teaching, the lessons they’re assigning, or the decisions the districts are making. Instead, we ask you stand up for educators if you see this negativity on your timeline.
Please offer grace to your child’s teacher and other school personnel. I promise that educating & keeping your children safe is still their #1 priority. ❤️
They are about to navigate uncharted waters with little idea in what to expect. This is a crisis, not a time to be playing armchair quarterback. They love your kids and will be doing their absolute best!

Please copy & paste if you are a teacher … or support teachers. And fellow educators, YOU’VE GOT THIS! I believe in you! We are all in this together!
We here give Sharon grief at times because we really really want her to be great. It’s wonderful to be reminded that, on many issues, she already is. (P.S.: The NSA will presumably be trying to crack that emoji code.)
This is your Weekend Open Thread. (It is not an endorsement of SQS for re-elected. That will come later.) Talk about that, or whatever else you fancy, at an appropriate social distance from indecorous nastiness.
Sounds like some pre-excuses for what is going to be a *hit show.
*The Unraveling of the Trumpster? The boy is losing it. The boy has lost it? The boy is a mess and expects the United States of America to go along with his delusional understanding of life? Ah, but we had Jimmy Carter, so we know how Stagflation works….and grasp the concept of stupidity by Presidents. Anyway, we can rest assured that in 100 days we will know the results of that trial. Where is Perry Mason now that we need him? Sadly, our Economic downfall will be caused by having the Fed pump huge amounts of weimar Republic cash into the Stock Market…to try and save our Pension and Retirement programs…..which is only a short term fix that will fall like a rock off a high cliff. Then what? Easy, 60 million Americans without work…..and a Stock Market that will fall to Single Digits in no time. The Trumpster will try to blame Biden and Pelosi and Schumer and his last date with some Stripper. But the American people know better and eventually, the BK’s of the top 500 companies in America will kind of suggest that it was The Trumpster that made it all happen due to a total lack of Bi-Partisan Leadership. Ah, but by then how many will have died? The jury is still out, but not for long!
This video of “AOC’s Greatest Hits” is over an hour long — but you’re staying at home, so you have time! (Harley Rouda’s nameplate is prominently featured near the beginning.)

I’m gonna have to block out some time to watch that. Sometimes she says things just so perfectly.
Zenger, Ryan, you guys will fall in love with her. This is pure klepto-slaying.
Isn’t this fellow, Tim Shaw, the one endorsed by one of this blog’s administrators ?
“In a phone call Wednesday evening, board trustee Tim Shaw, who came into office just this month, agreed with Mijares that there had been a lot of confusion, and said that the guidelines were not forcing a return to schools.”
Short of being called biased, you have quite a collection of poster boys.

I have a name, Ricardo.
If you have something to say, say it.
He might be referring to me. I thought Tim might be a slightly better Supervisor than Chaffee.
But I never wanted him for School Board.
Slightly?
Seriously?
Slightly given that I probably wouldn’t agree with a lot of his votes and policies. But at least he’s honest and competent. That was my thinking.
I’m sorry to see that honesty qualifies as “slightly”.
That’s the kind of enthusiasm that puts Jordan Brandman in office over James Vanderbilt.
Not with me. I preferred Vanderbilt WIDELY over Brandman, because of BOTH policies and honesty.
BTW Chaffee and Do have been standing up for public health during this virus, against the crazy Wagner and Steel. It looks like Shaw would have been with Wagner and Steel.
Nope.
Chaffee and his wife aren’t wearing masks. They’re wearing face shields, which aren’t nearly as effective.
Don’t confuse actual public health improvement with grandstanding. Every little treat you throw that way emboldens their stupidity.
I don’t like the Chaffees and you know that. We are arguing over whether Tim would have been only “slightly” better than Doug as a Supervisor. Does Tim even wear a mask in public? I don’t know if he does, but it seems to be a point of partisan pride not to.
I don’t know if he does or not.
Doug doesn’t, or at least he didn’t at posted public events where he was clearly not social distancing.
But hey, honesty is slightly better.
Slightly.
Ryan, Tim doesn’t get any points for honesty since he swallowed the OCBE’s Swaim report whole.
I eventually ended up writing in Cynthia Aguirre’s name for the seat after Tim got the Law Enforcement endorsement(s). But I’m a lot happier with Doug’s performance on the BOS than Tim’s on the BOE.
I think that Ricardo may be talking about me, by the way. I’m glad that we’re sustaining him through the epidemic.
Ok, Greg.
Glad you’re happy. Thanks for chiming in.
Thanks for your thanks, But I won’t be happy until Shaw has to eat his 1/4 of the Swaim report.
Hey Tres Amigos, who is going to explain, or spin, the outrageous position taken by the Board of Education?
This guy Tim Shaw tried the “confusion” explanation, but wasn’t he aware of the overwhelming concern and evidence not to re-open the schools yet?
Anyone here a representative of anyone on the BoE?
*Looks left*
*Looks right*
Nope. Doesn’t look like it, Ricardo. Might want to find a different tree.
I tried to get Andy Thorburn and Vicki Calhoun on that board. While I thought Tim Shaw might be a better SUPERVISOR than Doug Chaffee, I figured (due to his strong connection to Bob Huff) that on an Education Board he’d just be all about charter schools.
