*Have been thinking … hmmm … how many people died last year in the world? 36 Million! How many people have died of Covid-19 (the novel coronavirus) so far? 20,000! Meanwhile, the approach seems to be to target and kill the Global Economy.
Maybe we are just guessing or thinking out loud that it seems far too easy … to Full Stop the entire Western Global Community … virtually … overnight! The Dow Jones is going to hit nearly 15,000 in just a few days. Four million restaurant workers are out of work. Truckers have no place to get that late night cup of coffee. If you are 65, you have been identified as a Carrier, Victim, Killer carrying the CoronaVirus-19. You will not be allowed to eat out in restaurants or congregate with over 10 people. You are soon to become an Endangered Species! So, you have to ask yourself the question: Why? The future is full of evil empires and bad players, from Young and Restless to every new movie being provided Netflix.
Our world of course is changing. We are moving from Fossil Fuel to EV’s and AI’s. Electronic Vehicles and Autonomous Artificial Intelligence Vehicles, but why is it so necessary to sink our present economy? Because we will be moving to Crypto Currency as Mark Zuckerberg says is the future, along with all Wall Street Bankers. The times are changing and we are moving away from Currency and into Crypto Currency. The Trumpster wants to send out $1000 dollars to each man, woman and child……but since it takes $6000 a month to live…..One or Two Thousand bucks it not going to cut it. Each family is going to need $6000 dollars a month for the next seven months, but that will not quell the struggle for families around the OC. Every manufacturer of autos in the world has shut down. Every manufacturers of tires has shut down. All of their suppliers have ceased manufacturing products. Without immediately removing Tariff’s against Iran and China our economy is about to implode. We have reach Un-sustainability! The world will be coming apart shortly.
We enter the Crossroads….the place where the Rubber meets the road…….when people will have to compromise and genifleck and declare there position publically. We need to reestablish our businesses in this country immediately. Each day we delay is another month of dealing with a country out of touch and in Depression.
Killing the Global Economy is not a good idea using CoronaVirus-19!
Given that you (and I think your wife) are in the prime target age range for this disease, this post saddens me. You don’t seem to understand the power of (near)-geometric growth in prevalence statistics — which we can’t even trust in this country because President Schiesskopf wanted to avoid the factual data that would make him look bad — and so the chances are good that we’re already far along the path of Italy. I truly hope that you are not smitten by cosmic irony for publishing this. Please isolate yourself, if you haven’t already.
I have to say I agree. Why not take extraordinary steps to protect those at-risk or elderly but allow the economy to function otherwise? There are people who will die from lack of access to food, from not having money for essentials, etc. and then there will be the results of the bad economy after this is over.
*The Danes caught on early. They closed their borders for 30 days: NO one in and NO one out. If someone felt sick, they raised their hands and got immediately tested and were given results in four hours! Today, the latest D.C. Press Conference said: “We can’t test anyone just because they want it…” We leave our response to that mentality…. to all of you. The Dow is going down to 15,000 and our economy will become Unsave-able, as will the rest of the Western Economy. We have just one hope…that China does not dump the 40% of our National Debt that they hold. out of 26 Trillion……40% equals 10.4 Trillion which will kill our economy for at least 6 years. Kick Starting the economy after this kind death kneel will be challenging to say the least. The Farm Belt will be dust and our so-called service economy which includes Insurance Companies and Investor Banks are going to bit the big one. Tariffs on any other country at this point is totally outrageous and beyond stupid. But what do we know?

People die in bad economies. This over-reaction needs to stop soon or the results will be worse.

*Meanwhile, every member of Congress is unavailable by phone. We have literally shut down the entire government and now operate on Twitter Time! Time for another Revolution, be it here or throughout the world. If modern Medicine cannot protect us, we need to dump their funding for the foreseeable future. EPD is right on. You cannot shut down our economy. Come on Business Community…..open those restaurants, open the retail stores and face down these jack booted thugs. Hasn’t anyone heard of Quality of Life? Remember that? This is not living ….or even surviving…..this is a disappearing act.
Nonsense folks……tell our Congress to answer their phones ….while they are still on!
We haven’t even figuratively shut down the entire government. Government workers are exempt from shelter-in-place. Look at the nice graphic I posted up there.
France shuts down for a month every August without their economy failing. We can survive a few weeks, especially with the exceptions granted above.
Restaurants can be open for take-out. Grocery stores and some others can be open. Did you read what I had posted up there?
Id you still want to prove that there’s no danger, you can literally shop ’til you drop. I hope you won’t.

Yeah, your arguments are Capital intensive….that is for sure. The problem you might want to grapple with is this: (1) Every year in France they go on a vacation for a month. Paid that is! (2) Ask all your friends in the Restaurant Business from the Owners, down to the BusBoys and Dishwashers how they are doing and how long will it take to recover from just the current time off, much less if this goes on through May or September? (3) Ask all your Teacher friends, Real Estate Agents and all those working in the Auto Industry from Dealerships to Repair Shops…..how they are doing? They already say, this issue has caused a Global Recession. If it goes two quarters or more it will become a Global Depression the likes of which we have never seen even in 1929. Final rhetorical question: How many victims of CoronaVirus 19 had all their flu shots….that both contacted this Virus or died from it?
One more thing…..try to call any Congressperson or Senator’s Office and see if you can chat with anyone! Our Government is shut down….and only seen on Tweeter or TV!
And Congress is considering paying people directly during this crisis — like a paid vacation.
Restaurants are hurting — but they won’t be hurting less if this pandemic continues to intensify and persist longer. There’s a good piece in the NYT (I think) about how the best way to get money into the hands of small business is to postpone payments on their debt obligations, such as rents and credit lines.
My daughter’s professors and grandson’s teachers are still working — and his elementary school is doing an absolutely fantastic job of implementing distance learning that seems to be as rigorous as classroom learning. Needless to say, they’re getting paid.
Meanwhile, the rate of growth in the U.S. of new coronavirus cases is the highest in the world. You stop the bleeding first, before moving on to secondary problems. A train can run again even after pulling the emergency brake.
*Dr. D., check with local, national, international economists who say that 30% of all the businesses being closed including all types of shops will be closed down forever. This is an Urban Renewal story and designed to redistribute wealth back to the wealthy that can afford to buy up these properties at bargain rates. Remember Civil War Reconstruction? Remember The Spanish Flu deaths at the turn of the Century in this country? Remember the Depression of 1929? Even remember the Spanish Inquisition and Salem (so-called independently wealthy women) Witches? The fallout from this is going to cause a major upheavel in this country. Have you heard the latest Trumpster concept? Draft Women into the Military by making them Register for the Draft at 18 until they are 45. Are you ready to send one of your daughters to fight Iran? Happy that your family is staying productive for the time, but if this really goes until September……it will be more than a “See me in September” by the Happenings….moment.. They want to draft girls because of AOC, Ilhan and Primalla…..and others elected to Congress in 2018. Ask our pal Tulsi Gabbard…..she will tell you about girls in the Military…and what happens to them.
France is used to shutting down for a month every year. Plus they don’t necessarily grow the economy by shutting down for a month every year. They just do it because it gives them time to eat stinky cheeses and drive funny looking little cars. That stuff is important to them!
