No jump shots. No ferns. No memes. Not this time. I’m going to give it to you straight: If you need health insurance for 2019, the deadline to get covered is December 15. Go to https://t.co/ob1Ynoesod today and pass this on — you just might save a life. pic.twitter.com/8mHMsXGY0g
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) December 10, 2018
The 2019 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period has been shortened from 90 days to 45 days (UNTIL December 15, 2018 – five more days!), and the advertising budget to promote open enrollment has been slashed in the ongoing Republican effort to further sabotage the program.
THAT IS WHY YOU ARE SEEING ZERO ADVERTISING ABOUT THE ENROLLMENT WINDOW.
The 2019 Open Enrollment Period runs from Thursday, November 1, 2018, to Saturday, December 15, 2018. If you don’t act by December 15, you can’t get 2019 coverage unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Plans sold during Open Enrollment start January 1, 2019.
Please share this post far and wide. Someone you know may desperately need health care. AND the smaller the pool, the higher the premiums, which is exactly the opposite of what was intended when the ACA was passed.
Thank you!

“AND the smaller the pool, the higher the premiums . . . ”
This is false and a wild problem with the concept of health insurance.
The higher the risk, the higher the premium shared thoughout the pool.
The pool size doesn’t have much to do with premium, other than dilution of risk, which isn’t really solved by enrolling more people who are “desperately in need of healthcare.”
The Covered California website still shows the Jan 15, 2019 deadline. In addition to the agents listed in the post, applications can also be completed online and Social Services offices. See link below.
“You can sign up for 2019 coverage from Oct. 15, 2018, to Jan. 15, 2019. Individuals with special qualifying life events can enroll at any time of the year. Medi-Cal enrollment is also year-round.
Medi-Cal and Covered California use the same application. When you complete your application, depending on factors such as your family size, income and ZIP code, you will find out whether you qualify for:
A Covered California health plan, with or without financial assistance.
Medi-Cal.
County Children’s Health Initiative Program.
Medi-Cal Access Program for pregnant women
You can apply online on CoveredCA.com. This single application will let you know if you qualify for coverage through Covered California or Medi-Cal. You can also apply in person at your local county human services agency or by phone by calling Covered California at (800) 300-1506. If you need help applying or have questions, you can Find Help for free. Find a certified enroller in your area.”

I called one of those numbers I posted.
Dec 15 IS the deadline for if you want to be covered by Jan. 1.
You can still enroll between Dec 15 and Jan 15, but then you won’t be covered till March 1.
So, still a good helpful announcement!
Good clarification. Thanks.
GREATEST DEAL EVER
Nearly 1/4 to 1/3 of our income was going to health insurance for my family.
Also my son has a preexisting condition – he was born with a one in a million odd liver disease that is not invasive or dangerous.
Affordable Health Care cut my cost in half!!!
Get it.
Mike
It is important to point out that even after the Open Enrollment ends, some people could still apply and qualify for CoveredCA (Obamacare in California).
” Individuals with special qualifying life events can enroll at any time of the year. Medi-Cal enrollment is also year-round.”

One of the shortcomings of Obamacare, the high cost of some plans, are making people drop their insurance:
” Some people who from the start hated the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare as it is often called, will drop their coverage as a political statement. For people such as Farrell, it’s simply an issue of affordability.”
https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-obamacare-penalty-health-plans-20181203-story.html
As the article linked below states, the ruling of the Federal judge in Texas declaring Obamacare unconstitutional, does not change anything yet :
“Even the Trump administration’s head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rushed to assure Americans that the court ruling does not change anything immediately, and those in need of insurance can still enroll in Obamacare.”
https://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-pol-obamacare-20181215-story.html
A fella on MSNBC compared the Texas judge ruling to a dog taking a dump on your couch: It’s a mess, and it has to be cleaned up, but it does not mean that all couches are toilets.
*Here is some good news…..for the few, the proud, the rich!

OC SOS Board Approves 2,500-acre parcel for creation of
veteran –civilian cemetery
A veteran’s cemetery is one step closer to reality after the Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved transferring a parcel of open land to the Orange County Cemetery District. Orange County is home to over 120,000 veterans.
The deed would stipulate that the 2,500-acre parcel in Anaheim Hills would be utilized for a cemetery with a requirement that future details about configuration and operation will be decided by the Board of Supervisors at that time. The site is located near the intersection of the 91 freeway and the 241 toll road in District 3, represented by Supervisor Todd Spitzer.
The cemetery deed specifies that the property needs to be developed within 10 years and include at least 50 percent of the burial space reserved for veterans. A goal is to have the property designated as a national veteran’s cemetery, which requires state and federal approval.
The Orange County Cemetery District voted today to accept the parcel. The district will have the funding to create the cemetery in stages as it is currently debt-free and has 8 million in reserves.
Yeah I’m gonna write about that – the Veterans Cemetery coming to Anaheim! – unless Greg does first.
