Lies Trump Is Spreading to Save Republicans Ahead of the Midterms
Trump is brazenly spreading lies to save the GOP in 2018
Posted by NowThis Politics on Wednesday, October 24, 2018
Well, take it from us: You’ll feel a lot better when you hear that the celebrated Baby Trump Balloon is coming to OUR COUNTY this Sunday afternoon, at the fabled Sasscer Park in Santa Ana – they’re apparently combining its appearance with a rally in favor of Prop 10 which is a little bit of a shame for any of you Trump critics who might not believe in rent control, but.. come on, it will still be a cathartic and unifying experience that you can tell your great-grandkids about. From the Facebook event page:
Backbone Campaign and Backbone San Diego will be bringing our Baby Trump Balloon to Santa Ana on October 28th for a rally in support of Proposition 10! The rally is being organized by Our Revolution SoCal OC, SACReD – Santa Ana Collaborative for Responsible Development, Latino Health Access, and Tenants United Santa Ana, and will feature local speakers talking about the need for rent control and housing justice in our communities.

500 West Santa Ana Blvd.
Date/time: Sun, October 28th

About Prop 10:
Prop 10 repeals a law called “Costa-Hawkins”, which has been on the books since 1995 here in CA. This law severely restricted rent control in CA, and actively allowed for rent-controlled units to be decontrolled. If Prop 10 passes it will allow for cities and counties to create new and effective rent control laws again for their communities.
While average wages across the state have been steadily increasing, many folks find these moderate wage gains are not keeping up with the increases in their rent. Too many times we have heard stories of landlords increasing tenants rents with no justification, or stories of tenants being evicted for no reason, just so the landlord can increase the rent on the next occupant to extravagant amounts. Prop 10 is a necessity, because our middle, low, and fixed-income communities need stable rents!
Many of the largest Wall St. landlords have dropped millions upon millions of dollars into advertisements to defeat 10. Notably, close Trump ally, Stephen Schwarzman, and his investment firm, the notorious “Blackstone Group” and their subsidiaries, have donated nearly $7 million to anti-Prop 10 campaigns. The fact that they are spending so much to defeat 10 is appalling, and is made more appalling by the fact that this directly comes out of YOUR RENT MONEY. This money they are spending to defeat 10 should be going to building maintenance, and funding construction of new affordable units; not into defeating a measure which will help the very people who call their apartment units home.

Weekend Open Thread, Baby!
The Katy Bear Tur interview is delightful.
The fantasies you trolls indulge in…
Sorry, Vern, I hid it. Mocking my name is one thing. Stealing my email address to post is another. No jollies for the identity thief.
“Baby Trump” is the next best thing to the real “Baby Trump”!….actually better!
At least Baby Trump isn’t a terrorist, unlike the fat fascist bastard blimp the big orange baby is based on.
For those who missed it, the Dodgers won the first double-header in World Series history last night, though it only counts as one (18 inning) game.
At 7 hours and 20 minutes, it was only 46 minutes shorter than the longest major league baseball game ever, regular or post-season, in which the White Sox beat the Brewers 7-6 in 25 innings on May 8, 1984.
Yeah but didn’t the Doyers cross some picket line or something? Now we’re all rooting for Boston.
I’m not rooting for Boston
Ocean View School District Gina Clayton-Tarvin just put out this statement on the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting:
V’imaru Amen.
Meanwhile Jordan’s been poaching my friends, believe it or not! People I thought had good judgment – they’re calling me and saying “He’s much better than you think – you should hear what he promised us! (And about those signs of yours, they’re really upsetting him…)” and that’s where I stop them.
Of COURSE he tells you what you want to hear, he’s great at that! That’s why he refuses to speak in public, then he can’t be held to anything. He has SKIPPED EVERY FORUM, and he’s showed up at every Council meeting just to he seen and hasn’t said a word. Actually last time he spoke at council was in the spring, AGAINST the living wage – shortly before he spoke at DPOC and promised to SUPPORT the living wage to get the Democrat endorsement.
And – HERE’S THE KICKER – my friends say, “Oh Jordan would love to do a District 2 forum but James refuses.” Now my rule of thumb is, if Jordan says the sky is blue, it ain’t. So I checked with James and of course it was a lie, James would love to do a District 2 forum and so would Duane.
So that’s my mission now – a League of Women Voters District 2 forum as early as possible this coming week. And we’ll see if Jordan agrees to it or not – James and Duane are ready.
When they say “you should hear what he promised,” have them tell you and put it in the other post.
It’s confusing. Kelly Gates posted all over the place, “I’m voting for Gracey and you should too” but it seems the Gates don’t live in the OVSD. Michael Gates stated they have property in the area and therefore a vested interest.
But don’t you have to actually reside in a district to vote in that district? And if so – shouldn’t the Huntington Beach City Attorney and his wife know that?
Are the Gates’ lying to try and influence a school board election? Are they announcing their intention to commit voter fraud? Or is their live in home in fact in the OVSD?
Michael Gates never clarified. Hope this can be cleared up. It is an honest inquiry.
Ballsy move too, to back a holocaust denier even after yesterday’s synagogue massacre.
She has a right to her opinion no matter where she lives. I don’t agree with her but she has a right to speak
You’re not getting it Elaine. If she said “I’m voting for her” but she CAN’T legally vote for her, not being in the district, that is some sort of problem.
Agreed. That’s the larger, underlying issue. But dishonesty to voters with intent to manipulate and influence a school board election seems a pretty serious ethics violation for someone holding an elected position as city attorney.
This is not a first. Gates singled out city council candidate Dan Kalmick and wrongly accused him of misusing the city logo on public forums with 10’s of 1000’s of voters. Again, this is the city attorney. He later plead incompetency and removed the post. But the damage was done.
Mrs. Gates has accused Briscoe of leaving “very, very threatening” messages on her husband’s cell phone. And making “inappropriate” comments to her in a secluded hallway. Where is the proof? Why is this only being brought up now right before an election?
If these messages are recorded let’s hear them. Where is the police report? Why were there no consequences for sending, “very, very threatening messages” (that are recorded) to the city attorney?
Mr. and Mrs. Gates are raising a lot of questions with their recent behavior. Including late night posting of photos showing them kissing and drinking while taunting a female elected official and local mother.
Last sentence – what what what? Link please.
It was on the OVSD Public Forum. Heard he deleted it. It was SUPER creepy. But there are screenshots floating around. Pointing out that it was on a forum for parents of children in the district (which he’s not) and that’s not what anyone is wanting to see.
“That’s a Bingo”
This is the guy that Rackauckas is thought to have chosen as his successor. Egads.
Yep. Prior to that photo Gates posted a different one, “toasting Gina” with his wife hanging on him. They were (according to Gates) on a Catalina get away. It must have been very romantic because he spent that night on facebook harassing Gina on the OVSD forum. The thread did not go well for him and he deleted it but I am certain someone has captured that one too.
Yes, Elaine. Opinions are for everyone no matter where they live. Voting however has geographical boundaries. And lying. Well. Lying is lying. You can “support” someone in an election who is out of the district that you live in. But that does not mean that you can legally VOTE for them. And claiming that you intend to vote where you do not have a primary residence is problematic.
It’s especially problematic because some entitled sorts of people don’t just claim that they’d do it — they’ll actually do it.
What happened to the Chumley post?
It’ll be back Nov 7. With the documents.
Hmm…
You’re a reporter. You want them sooner? Call people. Plenty would talk.
Things at Liberal OC are now getting too weird even for me.
First, Chumley eliminated my ability to take a screenshot of my comment as it was submitted for publication and going into moderation, which I do mostly for takedown notices just in case I ever feel like suing him and his sicko anonymous commenters.
Second, Chumley eliminated my ability to comment there under fake email addresses — again, admitting publicly that they were me — apparently by blocking my IP address altogether. (He later noted that some other people seemed have learned to fake their IP addresses. Yikes!)
Third, Chumley allowed the publication of a comment that flat out stole my identity to make comments about Lou Correa, such as that he was the worst member of Congress, stronger than I ever have made or would make. People, including Ricardo Toro, were fooled and rattled.
Fourth, after I asked on Facebook for someone to set the record straight about the Correa comment (as I could not), someone — I don’t know who it was, as they seemed to be using their own fake name — did so.
Fifth, Chumley replied with a comment stating that he still thought that the fake comment had been from me, in part because it used an email address that I had previously used there.
Sixth, I submitted a comment using Chumley’s name and email address — in the text of which I stated up front was by me using his name and email address — that I presumed would never see the light of day because, after all, I believed that my IP Address was blocked. I stated that this was to remind him of what he already knew — that on his site it is trivially easy to use someone else’s name and IP address. (WORST IDENTITY THIEF EVER!)
And then, as you can see from this screenshot take within the past hour, this happened:
Chumley printed the comment where I noted that his reasoning that the anti-Correa email was really from me because it used my name and an email address of mine (which I presume is one that I’ve presented publicly elsewhere), which means that he had to approve it from moderation. If he read it at all, he had to know two facts pretty quickly: (1) that it was not from him, and (2) that it was in fact from me, showing how vulnerable his site was to identity theft.
And yet, presented which evidence that should have convinced him that (combined with my denial) the anti-Correa comment was identity theft — he still left the comment saying that he thought that that the anti-Correa comment was from me up there!
Did he just not read the cocomment before he approved it? Is he first going to learn about it when someone tells him about this comment? Is he going to admit how easily the comment could have been identity theft and an attempt to frame me for what I didn’t do? Is he still going to leave it up despite my demand? Is he going to … apologize?
I’m still shocked that the thing unexpectedly saw the light of day — after all, unlike his own comments, it didn’t appear right away, but first languished for perhaps a day in moderation — but if this is the only way that I can get my takedown notices onto his site, then … so noted!
It seems that a case could be made that the Gates are abusing Michael’s position as city attorney in order to influence local elections. It’s all documented. First Michael Gates posts his city council candidate endorsements. And it is revealed that a fundraiser was held at his home for his picks and a high school drop out bigoted lying school board candidate. Soon after Mrs. Gates posts, “Mom’s for Gracey” and writes, “I am voting for Gracey and you should too” But Michael Gates will not answer direct inquiries as to whether the Gates are even eligible to vote in that school district. Unsubstantiated accusations of “inappropriate comments” and “very, very threatening messages” are included in the post against one of Gracey’s opponents. A man who also defeated Gates in court. Somewhere in all of this Michael Gates posts incorrect information asserting a legal violation against city council member candidate Dan Kalmick who is an opponent (again) of the candidates he supports. Not content to just spread misinformation and accusations this election, Gates then makes a late night inappropriate antagonizing post to a female elected official and threatens her preemptively for election in 2020. Is that what this guy is getting paid for? Is it contributing to a civil community? Is it ethical? How is any of this behavior serving the city as a whole?
