From the Fullerton Rag (“The Voice of Some People”)…
Back in May the Rag reported that Fullerton City Council member Jennifer Fitzgerald, during the Council’s May 1 meeting, requested that the council agendize an item to consider replacing Fullerton’s Library Board of Trustees with the city council members themselves:
“I do want to bring the library board code sections up to date. I want to add to that we institute a new organizational structure for the library board that calls for the appointment of the city council members to serve as the trustees to the library board and to form a library advisory commission.”
At the time no other member of the City Council commented on her request, letting it pass like the ravings of a demented relative at the dinner table. When asked privately about it, another Council member responded that no one else supported the idea. But, five months later, the item has nonetheless made its way on to the Council’s September 18 meeting…

Honestly, what I most want to see from Fullerton Council candidates is that they will take the Counter-Fitzgerald Pledge, which goes as follows:
“I pledge that I will never be part of a 3-2 (or 4-3) majority on any vote of the Fullerton City Council in which Jennifer Fitzgerald is also part of that majority, and if I find myself to be the decisive vote with Fitzgerald in such a majority I will immediately change my vote to place her in the minority.”
Paulette, Ahmad, Jose, Vicky, and Ybarra, and Sebourn and Silva, take this pledge! Spread the word to them, agents of Countering Fitzgerald, and get them to comment here!
For folks somewhat out of touch with Fullerton politics, it would be helpful to see a comprehensive, independent review of the conduct that so roused your ire. I’m thinking of a very similar piece on Murdock’s role in Brea, and who/why he was brought down.
As for the library, anyone who says, “I do want to bring the library board code sections up to date” without specifying what is out of date is exercising disingenuous, cowardly bureaucratese in an opaque power grab.
Fullerton Rag at least offers a motive: “…Fitzgerald’s support for selling the Hunt Branch Library and her other recent outlying suggestion that the Orange County Public Library system take over Fullerton’s century old plus library.” Still, if the only use for the library is for a church…seems to me there’s a problem.
There aren’t any code sections out of date.
*Ding ding ding*
Looks like we have a winner.
You’re on that board, aren’t you, comrade?
Yessir.
So JenFitz is angling to supplant our Ryan – this means WAR!
Hopefully it means we all just take a deep breath and work whatever the problem is out.
But, mattresses are an option.
That’s not what means war. Fitzgerald’s whole policy agency and Pringle’s top remaining thrall is what mean war.
I have proposed the “Fitzgerald Pledge” for Fullerton City Council candidates, which I think boils down to this::
“I will never be part of a vote where Fitzgerald and I will both be part of the deciding majority.”
In other words, Fitzgerald’s funders should know that whenever her vote would matter, they will lose.
“I pledge that I will never be part of a 3-2 (or 4-3) majority on any vote of the Fullerton City Council in which Jennifer Fitzgerald is also part of that majority, and if I find myself to be the decisive vote with Fitzgerald in such a majority I will immediately change my vote to place her in the minority.” – Nickolas Wildstar, Fullerton City Council Candidate District 3
YOU ARE RAD DUDE.
Are you running for Council though?
OK, I looked it up on the Registrar of Voters’ Candidate Log (warning – 188-page PDF!):
Former Libertarian Gubernatorial candidate Wildstar is running against … Jesus Silva and Greg Sebourn!
Nickolas, I hate to break it to you, since you are the only candidate who’s taken the pledge and all, but: I don’t think you’re going to win. That’s the toughest City Council race in Fullerton — and (without looking at the expenditure forms, but just going by quality of candidates) I don’t know that there’s a tougher one in the whole county.
(Then again, you did run against Gavin Newsom and his competitors, so it’s pretty clear that you’re used to long odds.)
Thanks Vern! You’re definitely radical yourself
And yes I am running as a District 3 Fullerton City Council candidate. Hopefully people will support me over the incumbents and give the city a chance to actually get some new representation that cares about residents.
As you’ll see from the Newsom recall, Nicko is now a radical … Republican.
(And not the good kind from Reconstruction.)
Thank you, Nickolas. Who are you running against again? (I’m not playing coy; I actually don’t remember right now.)
Your absolutely correct Greg! I’m running against Greg Sebourn and Jesus Silva who are both currently sitting city council members. I’m excited to see if voters who are fed up with their rhetoric will actually support someone else for once. Wish me luck my friend and stay tuned!
*Neo-Nazi American Bund Brown Shirt Volunteers of America. Heck, sounds like a wonderful organization to us. Do you have to buy your own uniforms or do they provide you with them when you take the Blood Oath? “The Library today…..the World tomorrow!”
Americans Unite……”there is still time brother!” Why don’t they want to take over the Water board or the Sewage Plants? Something that could make a difference? What? They couldn’t find evidence that the Library Board Members were skimming the Late Book Fees they were charging the public? “OH my…..” .as Dick Enberg might say!
