Keep us safe, O Noble Dog, we beseech Thee
Apotheosis of State Power, we bow and tremble before Thee.
Take our Treasure, take our Youth,
Only let us not come to Harm.
The Bullets of the Malefactor only make Thee stronger.
My Lord is a German Shepherd, I shall not want;
Thou makest me to lie down in verdant Dog Parks.
Where can the Sinner hide from Thy stern Gaze and piercing Teeth?
Thou see’st behind Trash Bins, yea, even INSIDE Trash Bins.
Hunt down the brown unruly Hooligan
And supplant the Homeless Vermin into the Void
Where there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
In the name of the Gang Unit,
And of the Dirtbox,
and of the Ghetto Bird,
Amen.
I have heard people on the left decry the negative impacts of big business. I have heard people on the right decry the negative impacts of big government.
I say we have to be concerned about both. In fact, in many ways the problem is when big government picks and chooses business winners and losers, which almost always translates into a losing proposition for regular Americans.
There is a lot of truth in the old adage that if you want something to be done right, you should do it yourself.
With ever bigger government and those big businesses that are given preferential financial treatment by big government, it is harder and harder for the average person to be left on their own and not be impacted by the ever encroaching decisions by big government and the big businesses they decide they want to favor with preferential treatment.
So Vern your post if fine because it brings to the attention of the reader the problems created with the ever growing all powerful government entities at the federal, state, county and municipal levels.
My sincere hope is that one day enough people of good will on the left and the right realize that they have more in common than they now realize and work together to help take back our county from the politicians and the big businesses they have given preferential treatment to. I always think that people who only think in terms of being on the left or right are not getting the whole picture. We need to start thinking about the powerful insiders, which is big government and those big businesses they give special treatment to and the rest of us, namely the outsiders. If we the people can ever form a large coalition of good people on the left and on the right, we will unleash the greatest period in American history.
I would settle for a goverent that keeps in check the out of control rampant crime and corruption ALL OVER. Big Business isn’t all bad, just like not every latin male under thirty with short hair is a gang member.
Clearly, the $15. Per hour minimum wage deal was a give away to another type of special interest, oganized labor, who OWNS the state legislature.
I will say this, under the left, the little guy looks to get a little something out of it, at a higher price mind you.
You are absolutely correct John. Big Labor still has a lot of political clout. However, where labor has the most clout by far is the public employee unions especially the police and fire unions.
As far a little guy, which I assume you mean the minimum wage guy, not all of them will get something out of it. Only those that do not loose their jobs as a result of the much higher min. wage actually gets a benefit. The real problem is that until the wage hike goes into full effect, those workers will not know if they are one of the lucky ones (who still have a job) or the unlucky ones who are terminated.
Uh…how did this conversation get onto a post about worshipping the graven image of the Anaheim idolatrous cult of Bruno? I am so confused…
I’m confused too but I’m sitting back and enjoying it all…
*Chairman Vern, you are confused? Look at NB and ask yourself the question: Why do we put up “whacked out art pieces” in our Civic Center when we have the Statue of Reagan at Bonita Sports Park and a Statue of John Wayne is still in Burbank, when we could have gotten it – by just sending a truck to pick it up?
Thanks for clearing everything up, Ron and Anna.
^^^ . . . ugh . . .
Doesn’t John Wayne still stand outside his eponymous (LOVE that word !) Airport ??? (Haven’t passed through there in years-)
John Wayne was gay. Yes he was, you boys.
No – he was not gay Vern. But this is true –
“Wayne co-starred with Rock Hudson in The Undefeated (1969), even though he knew of the actor’s homosexuality. In this Civil War epic, the champion of political conservatism worked well with and even became good friends with Hudson, Hollywood’s gayest (although it wasn’t publicly known at the time) leading man. They remained good friends until Wayne’s death in 1979.”
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000078/bio
It was a reference to one of hundreds of great moments in the 1984 film “Repo Man.”
My favorite John Wayne story was from Frank Zappa when he was around 20, playing in a Hollywood club, and had never been out of California. An inebriated John Wayne, held up by two handlers, walked into the club and yelled at Frank, “Hey! I saw you in Paris! And then you sucked my dick!” His handlers dragged him back out. Frank entitled that anecdote, “Duke of WHAT?”
But my own anecdote, since you bring up Rock Hudson, was right after that actor died of AIDS, and I happened into a STRAIGHT San Francisco bar, and all these old geezers were crying in their beer and saying “I can’t believe it – I thought Rock was straight.” Like they were betrayed. Which is exactly what that Repo Man John Wayne clip gets across – straight guys NEEDING to know their heroes are straight.
Did you ever notice that dog is god spelled backward?
No, it’s true.
Let me try.
No, I get bog.
*References to the Duke……are at best “guess-ta-ments”. We actually met with the Duke on the “Wildgoose” in 1970 in Manzanillo, Mexico. The Duke told bunches of stories for three hours all about how he and Ward Bond would clear the bars in Panama – in record time. The Duke
was a Gemini however and may have enjoyed watching Rock Hudson having his way with various extras and day players. Just guessing of course!
Perhaps we should ask the Newport Beach art folks if, to celebrate the debut, we can re-install their “Bad Dog” in front of City Hall ? Surely a treat for the artsy-craftsy Museo crowd across the street ?
*Do not say the words Scott Peotter in vain…..Good Grief, first our ever present Bunny Cult….which every school child loves and adores – even at Easter. But the bizarre “works of art” placed around our Civic Center Mall in Newport Beach…..are amazing pieces of dog poo in our opinion.
Maybe modern art is just not our calling. Maybe the folks on our Cultural Committee in Newport Beach just miss visiting San Fran and NO CAL when they get the opportunity. Bruno? Why not? The three legged Frog is supposed to bring great wealth. Perhaps, the three legged dog will bring a better protected community of Anaheim.
Thanks for the view from a distant orbit.
In Anaheim “It’s a Dog’s World”!!
Speaking of creatures on and off their leash:
http://www.anaheimblog.net/2016/04/07/council-elections-2016-steve-chavez-lodge-files-to-run-in-district-1/
The kleptos are dredging up this zombie and pretending he lives in lowly West Anaheim.
Ah! Looks like young Connor’l have to wait.
I would have loved to be there when the useless Brandman delivered the bad news to his just as worthless protege: Sorry, but Curt already has a supine lackey for District 1.
Not if I have something to say about Steve Chavez Lodging in West Anaheim District#1
Don’t worry. I’d bet the farm he never sleeps a night in West Anaheim. Unless someone makes him.
Wow that the exact text of lou correas bed time prayers as he prays to send his fellow Chicanos to prison at the hands of APD and DA T Rack.
Busted!
See ? History may not repeat itself, but it sometimes rhymes,(Mark Twain ???)
In an earlier decaying Empire,(check Wikipedia) the Roman Emperor Caligula supposedly appointed his favorite horse, Incitatus, as Senator, then Consul, though accounts differ.
“According to Suetonius, in the Lives of the Twelve Caesars (121 AD), Incitatus had a stable of marble, with an ivory manger, purple blankets, and a collar of precious stones. Dio Cassius has indicated that the horse was attended to by servants and was fed oats mixed with gold flake. Suetonius also wrote that it was said that Caligula planned to make Incitatus a consul, and that the horse would “invite” dignitaries to dine with him in a house outfitted with servants there to entertain such events.” – Wikipedia
After the Unfunded pension Liability got added to the budget, horses are too much to support, (except for the perpetual rent forgiveness to Rancho del Rio Stables) so a dog will have to do ?
Unrelated, but any merit to coining an Anaheim term of “Porta-Lodge” for one who pops up and can be re-installed wherever needed at the moment? I thought the last known sighting from these pages was somewhere in the Plutonium Triangle ? I can’t keep up.
Yes, we were expecting Steven Albert in the 5th.
But the wordsmith is slavering all over one Steve Faessel in that district. “He pretty much bleeds Anaheim,” he wordsmiths. I retorted, “Not if we can keep him off the council, he won’t be able to help Murray and her allies keep bleeding Anaheim.”
Lorri Galloway is looking about 50-50 for moving into the 5th (where her ESCRI has been working for decades) and running there. I don’t know what to say about that. She was a good councilperson up thru 2012. And she assures me “my politics is the same as ever!” But she shook a lot of our trust in her in 2013-14.
If she does this, the Pringle crowd would be smart to drop their support of the unknown Faessel for the familiar LoGal. We’ll have to watch the wordsmith’s page for clues if that happens.
The two most important things are for Moreno to beat Brandman in the 3rd, and Lopez to beat Kring in the 4th. Then we’d at least have a majority of honest people.
It’s too early to do much analysis of Anaheim yet. I still expect that much of what we’re seeing how may be feints. You or I (or both) should cover it eventually, though.
Around here, we let them retire with dignity.
If there is some of the REAL stuff left in Fullerton, Anaheim may have to come borrow some. It’s hard to come by here, and certainly not enough of it to go around.
Is this the WOT?
Fine, I guess it is now. Nobody made one. Ricardo had suggested we use this:
Even better –
Gov. Scott responds to viral video of citizen calling him an a$%hole
Come on, folks. Do you really think Rick Scott is any worse than Hillary Clinton?
Let’s all stop rooting for the home team and wake up before it’s too late.
Aren’t you tired of being divided and conquered yet?
Let’s all push for a Trump/Sanders ticket in 2016. Now that’s real ‘hope and change’ you could believe in.
Why yes. Yes I do.
Shall we start with the Medicare Fraud?
Hillary Clinton makes Rick Scott look like Little Lord Fauntleroy.
Please….let’s get real.
In the way she or he screws over regular people?
No. Get real.
Does taking Big Bucks from Wall Street and Third Wold dictators in ridiculous, do nothing speaking fees (and who knows what ll else) mean screwing over “little people?”
I guess it depends on one’s perspective. It doesn’t from the Clinton Foundation’s cash flow vantage point.
As Garry Wills recognized in his follow up to Nixon Agonistes: look for the cash nexus.
Diarrhea kills thousands every year.
I try to be as objective as I can by superceding political favoritism. I really can’t stand either major political party.
I just can’t take anyone seriously who claims Hillary Clinton hasn’t made a career of screwing over regular people.
All those wars that Hillary Clinton supported in the ME have not only screwed over regular innocent people – it wiped them off the face of the planet. Hundreds of thousands of them.
A vote for Hillary is no better than a vote for George W. Bush.
Come on, friends. Let’s promote some objectivity here.
Yet Ziegfried supports a candidate who, among other things, wants to send 30,000 troops into Iraq and Syria.
Objective my ass.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-gop-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/03/trump-iraq-syria-220608
Trump didn’t start or promote the illegal wars like Hillary. Trump has been against ME intervention for the longest time. He’s the only Republican who criticized Bush for going into Iraq. Remember?
Trump and Sanders are the only 2 candidates who aren’t members of the political insider establishment club.
Votes for anyone else are votes for the status quo.
If you want more status quo – vote for Hillary.
But if you do just be honest enough to admit that you’re pro-status quo.
And don’t dare complain when Hillary does the same thing to you as Obama did.
He wants to send 30,000 troops into the Middle East.
Get over yourself.
As far as the dog goes, what did you expect?
We’ve been living in a quasi-police state for years.
When you take your dog to the park don’t forget to bow down to Bruno.
Paul Ryan could be the GOP nominee, according to an analyst who says that:
“• Though an apparent long shot, Ryan did emerge from a crazed Congressional food fight to become Speaker of the House. As such, he’s right behind Joe Biden in the line of White House succession. He says he doesn’t want the presidency, but he also said he didn’t want the Speaker’s job.
•Despite his outward appearance of civility, Ryan is a vicious corporate reactionary, an Ayn Rand fanatic with a brutal far-right agenda that includes (though he denies it) destroying Social Security, Medicare, labor unions, environmental protections and much more. A Ryan presidency would be a global catastrophe on more fronts that can be listed here.
•Ryan has plenty of negatives as a candidate. And the Kochs earlier pushed Scott Walker, who failed miserably. But at 46, Ryan is more than two decades younger than Hillary. He has a family, speaks reasonably well and comes off as deceptively sane. With unlimited dark billions at his disposal, a well-calibrated running mate could make Paul Ryan hard to beat.”
http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/are_you_ready_for_president_paul_ryan_why_20160410
I think he’d run with Nikki Haley. And they’d have a good chance of winning. And disaster would ensue.
Wouldn’t Trump go independent, and take half the Republicans with him?
After what just happened in Colorado probably more than half.
Nobody, Republican or Democrat, with any fairness in their bones would allow an outsider who didn’t lift a finger in the primary fight to step in front of the line and steal the nomination from candidates who struggled to garner millions of votes from the Republican base.
Not much different from the dems with their superdelegates tho.
If Trump doesn’t reach 1237 he will fall just short of it. To take the nomination from him and give it to Ryan (a liberal in conservative clothing) would destroy the Republican Party.
It would go down as THE dumbest thing the RNC has done in the history of the GOP.
But those in the establishment who profit off the corrupted status quo are likely capable of such idiocy.
Don’t necessarily bet against them.
He’ll take 20% to a third, and 15% of morons on the left that think “winning” is the President’s actual job.
I’m guessing the nod goes to Cruz. Sucks, but that’s better than Trump. Barely.
He may be too low-energy to do that.
Unless we’re talking about a Trump Presidency, let’s not use the word “disaster”.
Don’t forget.
A vote for Hillary is a vote for the status quo.
She’s deep in the pockets of Wall Street, loves to promote war, accepted contributions to the Clinton Foundation from foreign despots while SOS, took many $225,000 honorariums from the Wall Street banks for speeches then refused to provide us with the tapes or transcripts, showed scorn for the female victims sexually abused by her husband, left the Ambassador to Libya twisting in the wind as he was murdered by terrorists then lied and blamed the uprising on a video produced by an LA film producer, etc…
Trump’s going to have a field day with Hillary at the POTUS debates if the RNC doesn’t steal his nomination. The material is endless.
There are some really great things about the status quo.
You know, like not being dead.
Finally, if Trump doesn’t get the nomination it’s because he didn’t earn it. I know he and his cabal are used to having things handed to them after some crying and complaining, but minimum standards are minimum standards.
Even if you’re Donald Trump. You don’t get the minimum, you lose. That he doesn’t respect that and is already blaming others for his failure is a fantastic foreshadowing of his terrible Presidency, that of a very loud whiner who makes frequent, obvious, and catastrophic mistakes.
“You know, like not being dead”
That doesn’t even make a lick of sense. But I guess when you’re desperate those are the sort of responses we’d expect.
The dems got fooled by Obama twice. Now they’re leaning into another right hook with Hillary.
You can’t fix stupid. You can point it out. But you just can’t fix it.
Oh, and Paul Ryan who didn’t even compete or someone with many fewer delegates than Trump would’ve earned the nomination? Get outta here.
More innane remarks.
“You can’t fix stupid. You can point it out. But you just can’t fix it.”
. . .
I’ll just leave that right there.
Trump’s going to have a field day with Hillary?
You can’t be serious.
First, he wears more makeup and uses more hairspray than she does. Second, his grasp of world politics is elementary at best.
He surrounds himself with thugs, and is serial liar. He’s a misogynist and a racist. He is the most ridiculous excuse for a politician outside of the third world that we have ever seen. And don’t forget, he eats pizza with a fork and hangs out with Sarah Palin.
Hillary would destroy him in a debate, but, hey, I’m for Bernie.
I’m actually glad to see that Ziegfried’s faith in The Dumpf hasn’t been shaken, I was worried that the last couple of weeks might have taken a toll.
I guess no amount of blatant misogyny, appalling ignorance and tantrum throwing can penetrate and appall a Dumpf supporter’s grey matter.
So go Dumpf, go. You’re the man us Dems want to run against.
Those folks who were active in Occupy Wall Street and intend to vote for Hillary have to be some of the biggest hypocrites on the planet.
But as Americans you have a perfect right to be a hypocrites. So go for it!
Then you can declare that you were against Wall Street greed before you were for it!
And that will exonnerate you.
Ya know, your self-righteous act is wearing thin. Just sayin’.
The OWS people that will vote for Hillary is much smaller demographic than the racists who will vote for Trump.
Which group do you want to be associated with ?
Trump is a racist? lol.
Did you read about the racist skit that featured Hillary and deBlasio at a high-brow dinner in New York?
They were running on “CP Time”. Short for ‘colored-people time’.
Now who’s your racist? lol.
Now go ahead and make excuses for the home team!!! lol.
Trumpfried, building a wall to throw all the Mexicans over, refusing to let Muslims into the US( including US citizens) beating the crap out of black people at his rallies, welcoming the KKK as his supporters….now that’s racism.
The GOP is so mad at him because his dog whistle is broken. How dare he actually verbalize their true feelings.
And you so vehemently defending him. You’re a sad little man.
The joke was — as de Blasio explained — that he had intended it to mean “Cautious Politician” time.
The most interesting thing about it in my opinion is not that they told a joke that was supposed to make you think “oh, he said something racist” only to then make it seem like an innocent mistake — Hardy Har-Har — but that when it became controversial Hillary immediately disclaimed any responsibility for it and threw de Blasio under the bus. That’s what she’s like to work with, folks!
The interesting thing to me was the lack of judgment shown by both Clinton/deBlasio and their staffs.
That was a rehearsed skit. Why would politicians even go there in such a racially sensitive society? The potential for disaster was huge with very little chance for an upside. Incredibly stupid. Clinton’s advisors must have manure for brains.
No surprise to me that Clinton immediately started wagging her finger in deBlasio’s direction. She has a history of doing that. It’s always somebody elses fault. Even when she gets caught in a lie.
It’s a shame that Hillary is the frontrunner. The Democrats have some hidden talent who are so much more qualified than Hillary minus the baggage. But the Clinton machine hogtied all the competition. The thought of the Clintons moving back into the White House is deeply disturbing.
*We are totally amazed that we actually agree with the RC, anon, anonster and trainspotter……all at one sitting. Will have to check to see if we have enough beer
in the frig. Loved the make-up and hair spray comment a lot. Ted Cruz of course
was “the First Offender”, then came Rubio and Trump. Even Kasich is wearing dark underliner mascara. Who is doing the consulting for wardrobe and make-up for these rookie nutcases? “You’re Fired!”
Just spotted in OC Reg – Bruno goes to the Great (Dog) Park In the Sky !
http://www.ocregister.com/articles/bruno-716304-police-dog.html
Yeah, looks like Greg is working on a piece.
Many of us are eager to see the result of the ballistic test on the bullet inside Bruno – was it from Robert or was it friendly fire?
