WHAT IS LOVE? Presenting Trump at the Roxbury!

Posted by The Huffington Post on Friday, August 7, 2015

There are plenty of things to talk about in the world right now, but only two of them are apparently mandatory. So let’s be like every other respectable media outlet today and invite your thoughts on the Republican Debates and the end of Jon Stewart’s tenure on The Daily Show.  We have some inspirational photos for you related to each theme.

GOP JV Debate - empty auditorium

This was the actual audience in Cleveland prior to the Republican’s “Junior Varsity” debate. When you find yourself rooting for Jim Gilmore, you know that you’re taking things too seriously. Anyway, the consensus winner, who will be elevated to the varsity league: Demon Sheep!

And…

Daily Show - Correspondents at Finale

There are literally as many former Daily Show correspondents in this photo as there were audience members for the Republican “JV” debate, but that damned Rob Riggle, who didn’t have the sense or the decency to move to the back or at least against the wall, is blotting many of them out.

Plus, because this is your Weekend Open Thread, you can talk about anything else you’d like, within reasonable bounds of decency and discretion.

And Anaheim Insider wants to remind you-all of two events tomorrow (Saturday) that we announced early last weekend:

Please try to come out Saturday August 8, BEFORE YOU GO TO LAGUNA WOODS FOR THE JOHN DEAN TALK, to help out our friend, the persecuted and inspiring neighborhood activist Yesenia Rojas, at a classic Anaheim yard-sale fundraiser at 710 Anna Drive.  Her young friend Guera writes on the Facebook event page:

An amazing community member from the city of Anaheim needs our help to raise funds for her recent legal issues. She has done a lot for the community and we refuse to see her go anytime soon. Please help us by donating clothing, toys, electronics, household objects, etc that can be used to be sold at this yard sale! If you’re able to donate money wonderful! But if not all of us have those few things we’ve been meaning to take to goodwill but havent had the time to. Please donate to our yardsale and also stop by and check it out you might find some great stuff. If anyone has donations please message my personal facebook and let me know. See y’all soon ! (:

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
