Are Kring and Galloway About to Tear Each Other to BITS? On Slates and Slurs and Sloppy Seconds

Our evening’s amusements begin with video and slates. The video details the bankruptcies, moral and ethical and financial, of Lorri and Mike Galloway. The slates represent the inability of one Lucille Kring to pay her bills, or to be precise, for others to cover the bills they talked her into! (Again.)

Let’s get the slates out of the way.

I detest repeating rumor, but I have this from more than one source JUST arms length away so I am going to call this one plausible and let you all decide.

Here’s to a fair fight!

It is understood that Team Tait is being offered participation in last minute slates … spots had been held for Murray and Eastman’s council races, and I understand those to be paid. And the slots set aide for Kring’s 2 x 4 crack across the head at Tait….well they are suddenly available, and being offered to Tait. A lot of them. Do slates “discount” their wares for last minute? Much like late arrivals at the Farmer’s Market, do the slate vendors cut the price to get SOMETHING this close to quittin’ time? The slate vendor doesn’t want to send with an unpaid slot any more than a farmer wants to haul a load of tomatoes back home again. There is just so much pasta sauce one can enjoy, right?

Because of my involvement with CATER I stay WAY out of the high level campaign stuff, for fear of compromising Tait’s ability to discuss legal issues,  but this is one time I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at Holder and Lewis right now!

Can anyone verify the slate story for us?

I don’t know if Tait would buy them and show up with Eastman and Murray, they are as likely to claw him on the mail as they would in person, but you don’t want to offer that to Galloway either. If anything the 460s were due today so we will wait and see who is spending.

Galloway was surely offered the spots first, right? After all she claims to be a “consensus builder” so why not start with mail?

We (OJB and friends) have been guessing at a Disney-Galloway alliance, far more likely if Kring has indeed been dumped. Frankly Galloway/Disney would have been laughable in 2008, but Disney has too much on the line to just leave their future projects to actual DECISION MAKERS and not flip to the back of the book for the answers in advance…Kring has always been a non-starter, for all her blustering of being the veteran politician she tanks at anything above a Council seat, and folks are getting tired of her even THERE.

Disney is backing District Elections (interestingly I understand SOAR did NOT want to back District Elections and at least one Board member was seriously lit to see the Disney-funded Districts lawn signs, as she had not been told firsthand! SOAR is more independent than Fitzgerald would like the world to believe, at least in ideaology. Financially they are seriously still running on the umbilical cord of Le Mouse, so SOAR is welcome to oppose District Elections, they just won’t get any funding from Mom and Dad (Carrie Nocella as Mother figure?) And Disney is not going to support Districts while giving money to the bigoted white lady who says all the wrong things about them…

An alliance with Galloway, as sick as it seems, would be plausible in the convoluted machinations of Burbank. Both Kring and Galloway are hated for the SAME prior decisions like the SunCal ridiculousness that started SOAR (in retrospect we should have let Frank Elfend have his deal, it diverted under $10MM in TOT from the Resort’s revenue stream, a laughable amount today in light of the roughly ONE BILLION DOLLARS in crony capitalism that will siphon resources from Anaheim over time.)

And in another twist, if you are delusional enough to believe that God told you to run for the Mayor’s seat, then having your arch enemies welcome  you into the fold and offer assistance fits with your “miracle” world view, as in “Hell and half of Texas just froze over, and Disney is backing Galloway”…

IF … and this is total conjecture which I do not usually engage in here, looking for discussion more than anything else, and maybe dislodge a nugget from someone who knows more than I do….but IF Disney supports Galloway and Districts (which fit better than Districts and Kring) it will mean the complete and total destruction of SOAR.  They will simply implode, as these started-as-grassroots-morphed-into-PR-tool groups tend to do over time anyway. Ah, cheer up, maybe you guys can keep the Red Cards for one more year….

Does Disney care? Is SOAR the girlfriend the whole world knows has been dumped but has not been told? How have those Bold Wine with Bold Leaders fundraisers done? Anyone have time to check that?

Seriously, when was the last time The Mouse took that ride out for a spin anyway? Mail for Murray hit today from SOAR, but otherwise their ability to create a crowd of any size or credibility is minimal, even the Keep the Angels “rally” at City Hall drew less than 10 SOAR members I saw, (and they offered FREE t-shirts and pizza!) and their members connections to Vacation Rentals that don’t (yet) pay TOT (competition against the hoteliers who FUND SOAR) and create one big fat CEQA lawsuit waiting to happen … there is a showdown lurking beneath the surface anyway.

Long term repercussions:

Kring put it ALL on the line for her new best friends. She burned every bridge she had other than within their sick selfish structure, and if they have now thrown her from the palace into the moat, not even the caretaker will fish her out as an act of mercy before the gators show up. The GOP is lost to her, done, she was humiliated at the last meeting she attended, when just 2 years previously they had granted her grace and mercy even AFTER signing the Baugh Manifesto no union money pledge with union money sitting in her campaign account! Kicked to the curb there, and no money will come her way from anyone who wants GOP friendships in the future.

New allegiances Kring had forged in 2012 with those who had always ranged from dislike to detestation with her figured the enemy of my enemy is my friend — and if she hated Pringle so badly as she claimed to over lunch with me (and others) then maybe we could make something work. Nobody is EVER going to turn their backs again on “I didn’t put it in my campaign literature” Kring…

Now let’s just say that the Angels’ Stadium deal that the Pringle Ring most cared about — that is, not the distraction of the Stadium, but the real lucrative prospect of looting the land around the Stadium — is going downhill fast.  No inside information is being presented here; just a possibility given the demise of the MOUs.  Let’s also suppose that the Charlie Black connection — Charlie Black, whom Kring, incredibly, just said that the City should rehire — has an unsavory whiff about it (or that something else does.)  That’s all we’ll suppose for now.

We know the Curt-ster, and he is not going down for anyone; years ago it was his staff that went down in flames.  Denny will never go without a job as long as Curt is this side of an orange jumpsuit, or dirt — and we won’t talk about Rhonda’s, uh, “reward”– but if the waste product hits the cylindrical cooling unit on the Angels back room deal, look for the lowest face on the totem pole to go down for it.  Who better than the Council member popping in and out of office, taking off just enough time to work in the private sector as a real estate attorney NOT subject to reporting requirements, and then back into office … and out again … and she is known to be close to the Angels organization and its various leaders?  Oh yeah, and she is EXPENDABLE.

When one is depending on a crack team composed of Todd Ament, Matt Cunningham, etc., you put a buffer in between you and any stupidity. Is Lucille Kring the little rubber washer keeping facts from rubbing the wrong way further up the machine? Well, let’s see if someone actually steps in and buys those slates for her — and it was all an ugly rumor. If that happens, I will issue the first apology for running with a rumor. I can only say that there are things that make that fit that I can’t talk about yet.

A youtube video was sent out yesterday —

— via private email feeds, although everyone I know who got it, got it from a different source, so we do not yet know who put an old 90’s era video onto YouTube over the weekend. Odds on favorite would be Lucille Kring, hoping to take out Lorri Galloway and Tom Tait — and now she may have that much more reason to do it.

The video shows an old City Council meeting starring a private detective who had been hired to investigate the Galloways and the Eli Home. The investigator came to “Mayor Daly era” Anaheim City Council and blasted the Galloways with both barrels, ironically loaded with Lorri and Mike’s self-created buckshot. Going to the LA Times article http://articles.latimes.com/1995-03-03/local/me-38407_1_eli-home referencing the meeting (special thanks to the Google fairy for the “in-depth” research) we find this — where we see that  back in the Tom Daly years, a much younger Tom Tait (fewer knife wounds in the back) made a statement;

“While Councilman Tom Tait said such allegations were “irrelevant to a land-use issue,” Councilman Lou Lopez wanted the matter investigated. Mayor Tom Daly said he had reservations about the encroachment itself.”

Tait was correct:  they were discussing the installation of a block wall, there is no legal reason to prevent a block wall because you think the people building it are skanks. Galloway’s attorneys were pretty active back in the day (they LOST but they were active) and there was no way to not approve a land use decision based on reports of moral bankruptcy or any other kind. But this would be exactly the kind of juvenile use of ancient news that has never stopped Galloway from rising to the top in the past (no comments about something floating in the punch bowl, this is a family-oriented political rumor grinder.)

So who was responsible for posting this video and shopping it around?

Kring has extra incentive to be as ugly as possible right now. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and it sounds like Lucille has been burned BADLY AGAIN by the Pringle Ring, which had already bait-and-switched her into one suicide run against Lou Correa, then bailed on the funding.  (At least this time she didn’t put up her own funding with the promise of later fundraising. So she can be taught. Or Ron smacked her hand when she reached for the checkbook.)

Act 1 Scene 1: An elevator door opens to the luxury lobby of Pringle and Associates, and Lucille Kring steps off the elevator. Curt, at his affable best, greets her personally…

“Lucille, so good to see you. Really, you NEVER come to see me.”

Lucille: “Well … Curt, you never INVITE me, in fact last time I think you said something about ‘get out and let me fumigate’…”

Curt: “Water under the bridge, really…”

Turns to his guest, who is just leaving, “You know Lucille Kring don’t you? She is going to be Anaheim’s very first woman Mayor. Step into my office, Lucille, and let’s talk about your future…”

While just out of the scene in another set piece, we see Lorri Galloway slip out the side door of his office, and into the shadows, smiling….
