Ah, AnaheimBlog.net. It’s just the gift that keeps on giving.
Or as one of our Skadooshy nominees would say, the gift that keeps on grifting!
It’s been an entertaining week. What started off as a mere misadventure into mockery quickly developed into something more meaningful. Indeed, before our Juicing mission was complete, we would delve into the innermost sanctum of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. What would we discover in the dark depths of the kleptocracy?
Betrayal? Absolutely. Conspiracy? Of course. Accusations of criminal behavior??? YES!
In what can only be described as a stunning display of stupidity, Anaheim Insider appears to accuse city staff of violating the Brown Act, a crime, in order to perpetuate what’s obviously a lie about Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait:
Tait had long known about the framework of the MOU. He had even told Arte Moreno, in person, months before, that he was fine with the framework. That’s one of the reasons Arte ultimately agreed to the MOU: he thought Tait was on board because Tait had told him so.
In order for Mayor Tait to have “long known about the framework of the MOU” city staff would have had to leak information discussed in closed session to the Mayor, who had been excluded from discussion as a precaution related to a property disposal near the stadium within the prior year. Not only would that be wrong, this would be a crime.
Now, it’s one thing to lie about something to score political points. It’s another to implicate another in a crime in order to perpetuate a tall tale. Either Anaheim Insider is a liar who completely made up the story or someone at City Hall belongs in jail. Given that Arte Moreno formed a land development company mere days before the MOUs were signed and given that the contract authorizing the economic study supporting the MOUs was authorized the weekend before the vote, it’s highly improbable the framework existed in any appreciable time frame before it was approved last September. And, if it were, it’d make liars out of the four council members who ultimately approved the MOUs on the basis of the “substantial” economic benefits the Angels provide to the city, which had been concocted only hours before the vote.
So, I’ll leave it to you to conclude. Is Anaheim Insider a liar or did he just out a public employee for breaking the law just to make me look silly? You decide.
While our journey into Mordor was wrought with gloom and despair, I was surprised to find a light glowing ever so faintly in the darkest of all possible places.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it is true. Matthew Cunningham has . . . a conscience. BEHOLD, CUNNINGHAM EXPRESSES REGRET:
By the way, Ryan. You may have noticed that I’ve retrieved a number of your comments (and Zenger’s) from the trash and published them. Generally, I don’t like engaging with either of you and try to avoid it. Other commenters are free to do so. I don’t enjoy it because your relentless negativity doesn’t bring out the best in me, and I find myself typing (or being tempted to type) intemperate things I regret.
Going forward, I will continue allowing as many of comments as possible from you and Zenger, but I will edit them in the interests of polite conversation without removing the points being made.
In this my friends, you and I have made the world a better place. While we may be the devil that tempts Matt Cunningham’s soul into sin, like all sinners, he is free to turn back to the light. Let us all hope that he finds the light warm and pleasing.
With that, let us turn to the first OrangeJuiceBlog Skadooshy Award. From over 150 comments spread across two blogs I present to you our nominees:
Vern Nelson reminds Dan Chmielewski that Dan is supposed to be a Liberal, not a soulless douchebag who comforts the comfortable:
You remain the most pathetic creature that comments here, masquerading as a liberal while defending Rackauckas and Kring, and ridiculing candidate forums in poor neighborhoods for not having as big an attendance as an Angels game.
Oh yes, Skadoosh.
David Zenger:
Isn’t just it horrid how I’ve been forced to support a left-winger?
But really, what choice has the oligarchy left? But what about that $158,000,000 tax kickback to develop a hotel the free market couldn’t build? How did that advance anybody’s freedom?
BOOM! SKADOOSH!
Honorable mention from Mr. Zenger:
Why should Tait take the blame for the Angels (phony, by the way) talks with Tustin? Kring was the one who voted to give Moreno another three years on the opt out.
That extension was handed away with ZERO consideration, all based on the flimsy say-so of somebody named Charles Black who appeared to be working for the Angels.
Greg Diamond:
I forget what the “campaign to convince voters that Jordan Brandman was probably a criminal” was about at the moment, but if it had anything to do with the Wikipedia report then it had some serious validity. I have hoped that Brandman would have learned from that; some people learn slower than others.
Skadooshable.
Anonymous masked as “Arte Moreno”:
Sounds like Lucille’s leadership involves shooting people to save money as she said before the public during a city council meeting. What kind of leadership is that? Not one that I want to negotiate with.
OOOOOHHHHHHH. Wait. That just reminds me of how incredibly unqualified Lucille Kring is to hold public office. This isn’t funny at all. She actually said that allowing one of her constituents to die saved us the cost of a trial . . . and that’s always a good thing. Ick. No skadoosh.
Fiestainanaheim:
Orange County needs a new District Attorney who will prosecute police officers and politicians who contribute to his campaign.
I bet Mayor Paulido is really, REALLY hoping that didn’t skadoosh too hard.
Gabriel San Roman:
A white person is telling me, a brown person, that I don’t understand the definition of racism even though I, a brown person, have experienced it in Anaheim, where Matt, a white person, literally can not!
Matt, come on! What were you thinking? You might want to not lecture anyone on what racism is or isn’t for another year or so. Just sayin’. Skadoosh.
And finally, for reminding us that the root of what good politics is supposed to be . . . overcoming fear to do what is right and in the best interests of the people:
“Tait’s primary objective (with help from attack dogs like you) was to as a wedge to try and hurt his colleagues politically.”
Even if this were true, you now, finally admit that political fear kept the Feeb Four from doing what you consider to be the right thing.
Got it. Thanks
Congratulations David Zenger. That is one helluva Skadoosh. Not only do you remind us of what good politicians should do, you came up with a cute nickname for four people who suck at being even barely passable as a representative of their constituency. For the “Feeb Four”, this Skadooshy’s for you.
Now get to work people, it’s a new week! GO GET YOUR SKADOOSHY! Remember, you’re helping them grow.
I thought I would post this here because there was an absence of comments.
Did you all at Orange Juice Blog create a post about Naomi Klein to distract from what Naomi Wolf had to say throughout this last month.
You would not be the first media outlet to distract the public’s attention from Wolf’s calling out of the media being complicit in not questioning the supposed I.S.I.S. beheading videos. Which of course are completely FAKE!
That is not to say that “nobody died”.
Because how are we to know if any journalists or anybody at all actually died?,
If the videos are fake? –
and created by a U.S. funded and probably Israeli funded Private Intelligence Firm as propaganda used to promote the war industry and the Bullying of the U.S. Empire?
No Skadoosh for you!
nice Jesus picture there by the way.
Well, you know, I’d like to thank all the “little people.”
And by little people I mean DanCe, Cunningham, Todd Priest, Kurt Pringle, Lucies Kring and Dunn, Ann Murray, Eastman and of course Todd Ament, the littlest one of the greasy bunch.
And thanks to the editor for the Jesus pic, reminding us that the Deity must be on the side of Lorraine Galloway and her “prayer warriors,” even though she stole a house from her auntie and used the proceeds to buy a bowling alley.
Cue: It’s a Small World After All.

Then you’d look just as silly as Matt.
Speaking of, I want to do some residential and commercial infill development. Which of you two want to lease me your home for a dollar?
I’ll keep all the profit and give your house back in 2080. After all, this is a no-risk investment for you.

How about this scenario, Ryan: the city pays for all the stadium renovations, pays Arte Moreno to develop part of the parking lot and manage the development, and then takes half the profit over a certain amount? Would you consider that a good deal?

It’s an improvement, but not equitable. Using the numbers available, that has the city putting up $380,000,000 to Moreno’s what, $185,000,000?
I’d need more. But, an improvement. Why the city would completely release Moreno from his obligation to maintain the stadium is curious.

Interesting. You consider it an improvement for the CITY TO PAY for the stadium renovation rather than the Angels; for the city to PAY Moreno to develop/manage the parking lot development, and in return the city gets half the profit the development MAY yield, IF that profit exceeds a certain amount.
I’m glad the city hasn’t hired you to negotiate the deal. Moreno would take us to the cleaners.

You can read, correct? Seriously. I’m asking in honestly, because this comment of yours is just atrocious.
What I actually said is that the exchange wouldn’t be equitable and that I find it curious that the city would relieve Moreno of his obligation to fund repairs.
I mean it’s right there, man. Black and white. Plain as day.
Why is this an improvement? Because AT LEAST the city would get some return on its investment. In the MOU, the return was zero. This is larger than zero, hence an improvement. I also said I’d need more, but again, larger than zero is better than zero.
This isn’t that hard. I too am glad the city didn’t hire me to negotiate with the Angels. I’m grossly unqualified, but at least I can read and do math.
Lord help us if they hire you.

That’s too funny.
How about this scenario:
Moreno pays for maintenance (deferred or otherwise) as required under the existing lease.
Moreno BUYS the property at market rate and does anything he wants with it. City gets out of land banking business and capitalizes asset.
Moreno agrees to extend the lease a MINIMUM of 25 years (instead of the proposed 7 years).
******
Come to think of it, we ought to sell him the stadium too. Then he can demo it and build another one if he wants – another concept that somehow wormed its way into the discussion although the MOUs say nothing about such a scenario.
Moreno can name HIS team any damn thing he wants.
BTW, the MOUs said NOTHING about required renovations although somehow the figure of $150,000,000 was concocted and our fine stable of “journalists” ran with it like it meant something.
I put in a PRA request for the list supporting that number. Nothing.
Surprised? Nope.

Apparently, they are now attacking Dr. Jose F. Moreno (1) over the quality of an independent expenditure mailer that he had nothing to do with because it is independent.
And they’re attacking Tait for not mentioning the desire to renegotiate a lease that expires in 2029 in his State of the City addresses.
I picture them all huddled in a corner, drunk and frightened, straining for ideas.

Indeed! How many times during 2011 and 2012 did we hear Tait say “I’m confident Anaheim is getting an NBA team this year!” Does anyone doubt that if Curt Pringle had still been mayor, Anaheim would have closed that deal? And before Zenger and Cantor start gnattering, no tax dollars would have been necessary to do it.

“[The portions of this comment consisting of petty, gratuitous, non-pertinent sniping have been edited out; consequently, there was nothing of substance or worth remaining.]”– M. Cunningham
Why use one adjective to get a point across when you can use three!
Vern, we need a “Talk like Cunningham” Weekend Open thread. Commentor who fits the most adjectives and adverbs into a single sentence while making no more than two points wins.
And yet it sees the light of day, here, where many, many more people will read it.
And there was nothing there about setting teddy bears on fire, setting up mock religious shrines, working for strip club owners or outing the victims of Catholic clergy sex abuse.
When Jerbal tried lecturing me on racism, I responded. Now it may appear to be uncensored but the tidbit where I called him “city hall teddy bear man” or something to the effect magically disappeared!
City Hall Teddy Bear Man.
How about “Teddy Bear Boy” since he is obviously the boy of Terry Condon and the APO who most likely put him up to that really stupid stunt.

And how much of those feel-good items could be purchased with the $158,000,000 raid on the General Fund to build a hotel that the free market won’t touch?
And speaking of big numbers, how about Pringle’s monument to High Speed Rail – $200,000,000 of ripped off Measure M funds for what is essentially a virtually useless glass barn with twinkling colored lights?
Sorry Mr. Insider, but 50 grand is chump change in the oligarchic circle you travel in. Of course in that circle it’s public money wasted. Tait is spending his own.
BTW, when did personal wealth ever offend you?
Oh man, ya’ll got to love this. Anaheim Insider gets upset about Tait campaign spending. Asks how that money could have been spent . . . Forgot a few facts . . .
Conspicuously absent from this post . . . Curt Pringle spending thousands donated from a children’s trust (no joke) to attack Tom Tait, spending from the Kring family trust to attack Tom Tait, or the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce repurposing $30,000 of dues to attack Tom Tait.
Now, gee, I wonder why that was left out?
Don’t you get the sense of petulance born of frustration and impeding disaster is setting in over in Pringletown?
Too bad they have no sense of humor and no sense of shame. I don’t think It’s going to end well for Teddy Bear Boy.
But come on, you literally take money from a “Children’s Trust” and repurpose dues from an organisation and your have the balls to question how another campaign spends their money?
That’s a special kind of stupid.
It’s all about projection with the Cunningham Crew — and with that post, they’re projecting harder than ever.
Think of all of the preschool tuitions and Boys and Girls Club scholarships that could be funded by diverting the money used to pay for ‘wordsmiths’ like Matthew Cunningham to socially beneficial uses instead.
Think of all of the small businesses in Anaheim that could be helped by the Chamber of Commerce actually boosting Anaheim as a place to do business, rather than spending their money on nasty ads in the Anaheim Bulletin, and their effort on providing Arte Moreno with lists of reasons as to why he needs to leave.
… you could play this game all day long, even though it’d be pretty depressing to do so.
BTW, what is that squamous green thing growing on Cunningham’s face? It’s not another Ellisian amphibian transmogrification is it?
Time will tell. I promise — it will tell.
Man, do you guys remember when Lucille Kring also opposed the GardenWalk deal and also wanted to let the people vote on hotel subsidies? Those were good times! The things people say before they’re elected . . .
Anyone want to discuss what made her change her mind? What’s the saying, promises made promises . . . Kept? Nah, that can’t be it.

Please, help me out here. I am genuinely confused. You say that Mayor Tait chose to attack his “conservative Republican council colleagues.” But all I see here is Gail Eastman and Kris Murray. (Maybe Lucille Kring too? I haven’t looked at the whole thing.) Where are the conservative Republicans?
You couldn’t possibly be referring to Eastman and Murray, who in 2012 voted the AMEA such a generous deal (apparently in return for OCEA backing off the “Let the People Vote” drive) that even unionist John Leos characterized it as “excessive.”
You couldn’t be talking about the councilmembers who have literally become the posterchildren for crony capitalism in Orange County – something I’d been led to believe was not a conservative thing at all.
No, it’s impossible that you’re talking about the council duo whom the OCGOP refused to even CONSIDER for endorsement due to their bottomless hunger for public employee union funds? No, couldn’t be.
Well, is Kring on here somewhere? Could you be referring to her? The one and only enthusiast for a utility tax (Measure N?) The lady who prefers for suspects to be summarily executed by agents of the state rather than giving them the supremely conservative right of jury trial? No, that makes no sense either.
So, please tell me WHAT conservative Republican Tom Tait is attacking here, or has ever attacked? We would really like to hear about it! Thank you.

Mr. Zenger – your comment regarding Tait’s personal wealth is inaccurate. His company, in fact, makes a most excellent living from city incentivized projects promoting public-private partnerships throughout the United States.
Take, for example, the many and lucrative paydays Tait has made and will continue to make from the City of Garden Grove – a direct competitor for Anaheim tourism dollars.
The fact that Tait inserted himself in this conversation at all (much like in the Angel’s negotiations due to his land interests) is unethical in my opinion. Remember Tait’s personal wealth stands to gain by servicing GG hotels while squashing economic growth in our own Resort District in Anaheim.
The truth here is that this mayor has worked hard to viciously attack his opponents on this matter while doing his utmost to hide the facts regarding his personal wealth and motives from the public.
Mayor Tait is the worst and most divisive mayor this city has ever known.

Sandy Day is real! I remember her well – a big loud lady who calls herself Hispanic. One of the new breed of Pringle Hispanics. Fitzgerald notoriously referred to her and Gloria Mae (sp?) as Disney’s two little pigs, which won him no friends. One of the most strident and dependable anti-districting voices on the Districting Commission, where she was (I think) one of Kris Murray’s appointees.
I stood in line behind her last year to speak (I think) against the Gardenwalk Giveaway, which Sandy spoke for. When Cynthia saw I was up after Sandy, she quickly texted me a bunch of info, chapter and verse on Sandy’s SOAR membership and the perks she gets from Disney. That deflated Sandy’s presentation somewhat: “The lady who just spoke before me didn’t mention it, BUT…”
It’s funny how the Kleptocracy resents Tait for being paid to actually do real work – unlike the huge paydays Pringle gets for puppeteering votes for his clients and never even leaving his office.
Ah, to be a Master of the Universe!
How exactly do whatever Garden Grove interests Tait supposedly has benefit from the departure of the Angels to Tustin, Irvine, Walnut, Glendora, Downtown LA, or the Simi Valley? This flat-out does not make sense.
So tell me, Dave — is it now a Republican thing to go after wealthy just because they’re wealthy, even if they do good works with their money? How else does one interpret this immaterial material?
I think Todd is trying the “populist” approach by attacking Tait’s supposed family wealth.
More fun!

Totally Agee with jack on this one. Zenger is just plain wrong. Classic misdirection and scare tactics. The mayor’s record speak for itself. If he’s had a change of heart on his own past votes, say so and explain yourself. What I find odd about the hit money is that it’s against the council race. Doesn’t tait have enough to worry about in his own race without diving into the council race? I guess someone has to keep beating up girls.

Actually Tait has very little to worry about in his race. The latest poll I’ve seen has him at a solid 54% with only 18% undecided. The others get to share what’s left.
By the way, referring to Murray and Eastman as “girls” is quite demeaning to the two of them.

So much for David “I’m always honest” Zenger. You have been patently dishonest on this subject. You can’t give away money that doesn’t yet exist. Anaheim has budgeted no expenditures based on that $158 million. It is not being taken from any aspect of city services.
When and if the GardenWalk opens, 70% of the TOT revenue will effectively pass through the city’s coffers for 20 years and capped at $158 million. This deal will generate $484.5 million in new TOT, of which $255.6 million is retained in the general fund.
But no GardenWalk deal, no GardenWalk hotel…and new TOT revenue: $0.00.

So I have to wait until I’m actually robbed to complain about armed robbery?
Is that what Kring and Eastman and Murray believe? Really? So much for public safety!
What’s the argument that “the deal will generate $484.5 million in new TOT”? I’m sure that this must not overlap with the TOT generated by the Stadium Grounds Giveaway and the Convention Center Expansion and the Streetcar and ARTIC and … — right?
Could anything else have been on the land — say, a hotel from one of the many others around who didn’t require receipt of $158MM for building one?
In the Kleptocratic ontology “TOT” has a rather talismanic value; rather like the shibboleth – “economic engine.” Just keep saying it, just keep saying it.
True conservatives are wary of all taxes being collected; we don’t rejoice when government receipts are up.
P.S. you don’t really expect Kleptocracy revenue projections to mean anything anymore, right?
And of course your observation about the land generating revenue from some other, non-subsidized use is right on. I used to use that very same argument against Redevelopment project projections back in the good old days.
With regard to ARTIC, I don’t think anybody is even pretending that it’s going to be revenue generator. It is hoped, I believe, that we will be soooo enchanted by the blinking Christmas tree lights that we will not ask what happened to the $200,000,000.

Leftist Jose Moreno (L) and conservative Jose Moreno (R)
Left-wing academic Jose F. Moreno 1 must be worried about conservative GOPer Jose Moreno 2 taking away votes. His physical and online campaign materials emphasis his middle initial “F” in order to differentiate the two candidates in voters mind.
Now, there is a phone-banking operation calling voters, identifying itself as supporting Jose F. Moreno 1 and telling them that Jose Moreno 2 is only on the ballot to throw off voters. Phone-banks cost money. If significant resources are being diverted towards combating voter confusion rather than into voter persuasion, then threat posed by conservative Jose Moreno to left-wing Jose Moreno must be fairly serious.
Anaheim David Zenger (blocked)
Sounds like a smart campaign strategy to me. Moreno is going to need every vote to upset well-heeled incumbents.
By the way, when are you going to do a story on how much your Moreno has spent, you know, to show what a genuine candidate he is.
*******
Good to see Cunningham now admits HIS Moreno is only a threat because he has the same name, which is also the only reason he is on the ballot.
Shiny-face pretend Jose hasn’t shown up to ANY of the candidate forums thus far, from what I hear. I believe his work is done, after getting his name on the ballot. I never did get an answer, last week, about how they (either Matt or the Anaheim Hills forum people) counted only “five active council candidates” – has fake Joe officially turned in his resignation to the only people who matter, those who recruited him?
There’s a fake Jose Moreno out there?
Helloooooooooooo???
He (or someone pretending to be him) popped up on Pringleblog last week to challenge my assertion that he was a phony candidate and that his sole purpose in the 2012 69th AD election was to get Daly in. Which is exactly what happened.
Quel surprise!
Quite entertaining to see Cunningham praise him out of one side of his mouth while admitting his only value is to torpedo the real candidate.
Well, looks like we are totally banned over there now. I agree with Dave, Matt had a brief temptation toward open debate and had his chain yanked by some superior. It’s sure BO-ring over there now. Interest will wane, and Cynthia and Fitz should be happy.
It’s just hysterical. “We support freedom! Unless you don’t agree with us. Then we support shutting you up by any means necessary.”
DPRK much?
It also begs the question, who’s really running the blog?
Well, there is still no problem. Just copy/paste and republish over here like I started doing.
I notice Cunningham finally started using his own name to attack Mayor Tait. He’s better hope Pringle keeps feeding him table scraps or it’s going to be Hard Luck Flats over at Suite C.
Please send check to vern Nelson for the uptick:

I’m enjoying all the traffic the OJ guys are sending here. And I keep asking a question over there that they refuse to answer. If outsiders have to stay out of Anaheim vis-à-vis CATER, why can CATER stick their nose into the San Diego Convention Center expansion?

For all the posts those paranoiacs publish about Anaheim Blog, the Orange Juice Blog certainly lacks juice in terms of generating any traffic here. Yesterday, exactly one person clicked on their link to AB. Today it is two.
Anaheim David Zenger (blocked)
Congratulations. You’ve just doubled your readership.
Uh, when did CATER ever say that outsiders “have to” stay out of Anaheim?
Even if there were such a principle We got involved in the San Diego Convention Center expansion because I wanted to do discovery on some issues there that were common to Anaheim. Moving up the trial date and being buried in paper put an end to that. Too bad — I had some interesting plans for them, plans leading to a name we all know.
Hey, Matt — those people clicking OJB’s link are, so far as I know, only me! The links are disguised — using pseudonyms, in your honor — so as not to drive up your pathetic traffic and possibly endanger our own readers. I keep them where they are for my own convenience. I’ll click on yours again at 12:01 just so that you know it was me.
(I’m actually disappointed that a second person apparently found the link to Matt’s site — but then again Matt could be lying about it. Now probably everyone is going to go looking for it!)
Cunningham opines:
“Lincoln Club of Orange County Calls Measure L A “Union Ploy” And Urges A “No” Vote”
“Well put. The Lincoln Club is a conservative, rather than partisan, organization of successful business leaders “who share a common belief in the virtue of a government which is limited.”
Anaheim David Zenger (blocked):
The Lincoln Club? That’s the same organization that endorsed our mayor, Tom Tait!
Too funny! Cunningham tells his side of the story to one of Pringle’s “anonymous” handjobbers. Hey, Ryan, we really got under their rancid hides over in Pringleville!

Hey, where did the two cray-crays go? First they spend the whole commenting, and now they’ve vanished? They’re moonbats, but it’s amusing to read them out-crazy each other

They’ve been put in time-out. Opposing viewpoints are welcome. Zenger and Cantor were basically squatting the comments section by deluging Anaheim Blog with comments, most of it just snark. They’re spammers. Apparently, they are able to spend the entire day commenting on blogs. They saturate the comment moderation queue, and I have neither the time nor patience to accommodate their attempt to flood the zone. If they want to spend their work days swapping conspiracy theories at Orange Juice Blog and telling each other how in-the-know they think they are, they can do so at Orange Juice Blog.
We saturated the comment queue! Well the line wasn’t very long. Three of Pringle’s employees and the certifiably insane James Robert Reade. What an upstanding crew of regs.
Kudos to this guy.

Matt,
You smell bad.

Also, for the record, no one spends “their work day” commenting on your blog, Matt. While you may get paid to shill, the rest of us do it on our own time.
Stop trying to drag people through the mud to satisfy your own inadequacies. The attitude expressed on your blog starts with you.
Sniping? Matt should award you guys medals for diplomacy for not mentioning that he outed sex abuse victims in every. single. post.
Heh, heh. Well, I guess sniper gets the next Skadooshy.
Well, done sir, whoever you are and whatever you IP address might be!
He did that? Wow. The same creep who set a mangled teddy bear on fire and then set up votive candles around it? That guy? Yikes, what a loser.
Cunningham did WHAT? He set up votive candles around a mangled and burned teddy bear to make fun of the mourning of grieving mothers? SAY IT AIN’T SO!
Oh yeah, you had all forgotten about that? Read all about it here:

He was probably just still sore that me and Cynthia had caught him carrying the water for strip-club owners:

That’s a good story too.

Have you seen this guy’s house?
… this is really the saddest part of the whole Matthew Cunningham Story. The guy spends his entire life on the make, and all he’s got to show for it is a slice of average mid-level OC suburbia — something that a lot of other people have managed to get without continually prostituting themselves in the process. Cunningham may think we’re all haters, but for me, it’s more about pity. (The hate comes when Mr. Small Government thinks he’s entitled to a share of my tax money, funneled through his richer and better-connected friends, to write a blog lecturing me about how those friends deserve *even more* of that tax money.)
Biff is wonderful, I wish we saw more of him. (or her)
(vern, do i have to explain facetiousness to you again?)
Not at all, juice brother; do I have to explain deadpan?
I’m not a big fan of making things personal, but one of his buddies took a really big fat swipe at me this week that was WAY over the line.
And you are going to post about that, right? You’d better, we’re counting on it…
You know it.
DUDE! YOU’RE SATURATING THE QUEUE!
Don’t saturate my queue, bro. Don’t saturate my queue!
MY QUEUE! You’ve RUINED IT!
(Cut to Curt Pringle behind the curtain) I’m melting! Melting! What a world . . . What a world. . .
Why’d he leave ME out? I’ve been banned as well.
Hey, Matt! That was me checking in through OJB’s secret link to “your” site just now to read all, uh — let me do the math here — twelve comments to your last six posts. Tell your perspiring overlords that their new strategy for the site is working and that no one is making fun of you.
They never learn.
On a slightly (and only slightly) different topic, Chumley has this to say about Galloway not being at the Anna Drive Candidate’s forum.
That was very much not my understanding at the time. I was told that she had another event, but that it wasn’t a political event. Anyone else remember or otherwise know?
As for the Mayoral Candidates having “crashed the party” — uh, they were as much invited as anyone other candidate. (And their showing an interest in what their potential colleagues on the dais had to say is hardly a bad thing — except perhaps in the mind of an increasingly desperate “PR professional”!)
It was some event about being FILIPINO.
Not a word on Gale Eastman and her intellectual dishonesty. Not a word on Kerry Condon’s straw man attacking a police commission. Not a word on the Chamber pouring tens of thousands of dues into attack ads organized by Curt Pringle.
Why?
Because it’s only …. Because intellectual honesty is only necessary when you’re not being paid. Right.
Anaheim Jack
Pretty clear law enforcement is firmly aligned against Team Tait. Would love to hear the Mayor respond to why the DA and his own police force think he needs to go.
To be clear, we don’t need Cantor and Zenger to invent facts or Diamond/Nelson paranoid conspiracy responses. I would really like to hear the mayor or someone speaking on behalf of his campaign explain why he has lost the confidence of law enforcement.
Reply
Ryan Cantor
I don’t invent facts.
I simply correct errors with basic math and reading comprehension on this site.
I’d suggest your question is directed at the wrong people. Considering Lucille Kring has said that shooting residents is preferable to spending money on trials, I’d love to know what exactly she’s done to earn the support from the DA and the Police Union.
I mean jeez, do they agree with her? Shoot first and don’t ask questions later?
Special kind of stupid. Yeah. Uh…..
TAIT.
FAMILY.
TRUST.
Julie Tait’s husband, Mr. Kindness-as-a-way-of-life. Love him, cheer him on for standing firm in the face of genuinely evil self-interest, but THOMAS Tait isn’t going to hit anyone, even on glossy paper.
Tait. Family. Trust. Either kids who were just handed a very nice income generating property are paying it forward, or back, with a big fat black eye and the message NOBODY talks to our Dad like that….
…or look twice at the courtly gentleman sitting in the corner at the party, nearly unnoticed in his quiet demeanor but taking it ALL in and processing it with the same sharpest-mind-in-the-room that built one whopper of a legacy in a cutthroat industry….damn I love that guy.
Cunningham really IS that stupid isn’t he?
In a (not) shocking display of Anaheim Insider’s complete disregard for basic ethics:
Anaheim Insider
Ryan is sensitive on this subject because the “deal” I’m referring to is a very, very, very generous tax sharing agreement his employer has with the city in which it is located. Ryan enjoys a direct financial benefit from what he denounces elsewhere as “crony capitalism.”

I am not authorized to comment on issues impacting the company I work for. You know that, I know that, and asking me to do so just shows what kind of slimeball you really are. Turning that into an issue to score political points against me (i.e. someone who really doesn’t matter) not only represents a piss poor understanding of ethics, but it also speaks to your affinity towards pettiness.
Congratulations on being a jerk. You’ve earned it.
Has he admitted to being Todd Priest yet? Or has he denied it?
Say what?
“Anaheim has been asked to cover up criminal actions by a number of Judges in Orange County and Sacramento County, and Mayor Ton Tait has been happy to oblige, and silence me with force, up to and including murder.”
My “snarkiness” (i.e. trenchant relevance) gets me banned in Pringleville. This shit gets published.
Well, so does “Matt smells.”

Bam!
I kind of wish Matt would let Zenger and Cantor back in so we could read their whiny comments.
********
Well, what about it, Mr. Profile in Courage? Your little claque kind of wants us back.
He went from promising to publish our comments to an outright ban in what, three days?
Regardless of demand, we’re not going to see any dissenting comments published there until Matt receives approval from the boss.
yes, one does not get the impression that Matty is calling his own shots.
It’s been about seven years. Ever since he got that $200 an hour gig with the Rob Reiner tax redistribution commission listening to the radio and whatnot.
And he’s got the nerve to call Moreno a socialist.
According to The Wordsmith, the candidates are now all speaking French:
“All candidates responded with a quick “non” to each tax…except Jose Moreno. As Anaheim Blog reported earlier this month, the left-wing Democrat responded to each question about imposing a new tax or hiking an existing one with ‘Open to the idea.'”
Of course GHW Bush also said “non.” Then he did it.
Speaking of taxes, Lucille Kring is on my sample ballot pitching a Utility Tax in Anaheim.
Pringle employee Anaheim Insider recently laments”
“This is the same Tom Tait who at October 7 council meeting said he “looked forward to working with his colleagues” on the negotiating a deal with the Angels. How can the Mayor say he looks forward to working with his colleagues and in the next breath say they’re dishonest and must be defeated? Which is it?”
Well, Hell, even a pea brain like Anaheim Insider should have got the thrust of Mayor Tait’s comment. He wants TWO NEW COLLEAGUES to work with. And of course his current colleagues are dishonest (and/or incredibly stupid – I’ll let the Chamber of Commerce decide) and must be defeated
Get it, Todd?
Oh no, but they never attacked Tom. This is all his fault.
Well, at least when they lie, they lie big.
Who is “Anaheim Mom” another of the Anaheim _____ characters who Cunningham let’s slander Tom tait, an honorable and decent man?
October 29, 2014 at 8:19 am
Anaheim Mom
The more I read and see, the more apparent it becomes that he is just a wretched human being. I pray he is not reelected but sadly he likely will be and that is terrible for our city.

Anaheim Mom
Why is this man blaming our former mayor for his mistake? Really makes me question his integrity as an editor and spokesperson. He seems very young and incapable of the role he plays at the paper. Someone should advise him to own his mistakes. I for one still appreciate Mayor Pringle and do not like to hear him disparaged.
Reply
Uh, oh! I believe Anaheim Mom is none other than Anaheim’s former Mayor-For-Hire, Curt “Sowed the seeds then, reaps the harvest now” Pringle. Who else would actually appreciate the guy who almost bankrupt Anaheim?
Hey, you know who we really need to appeal to? Women under 55.
How do we do that?
Let’s just make one up!
Brilliant. Have another cracker.
SQUAWK!
Today Anaheim Insider has become hysterical his/her panties in a wad over a mailer that rightly describes Kris Murray’s financial interests in big projects that her employer, Willdan Engineering, will undoubtedly benefit from – HSR topping the list – the very pretext used to waste $200,000,000 on ARTIC which is being used as the pretext to waste $350,000,000 on a little choo choo trolley..
Comically he/she decides to compare Mayor Tom Tait’s business development in – wait for it – Tustin! A city in which Tait has no opportunity to vote on projects that benefit himself and his company. Hilariously this idiot then proceeds to explain how Tait’s driving the Angels to Tustin will benefit himself, as if we didn’t know that 1) the Tustin Move is huge and transparently obvious head fake; and 2) the Move was made faintly plausible by Murray & Company giving Arte Moreno ANOTHER THREE FREAKING YEARS TO PLAY THAT CARD.
For Skadooshy, I nominate this gem from Voice of OC Adam Elmahrek:
“Some say its because Disneyland, the so-called “Happiest Place on Earth” wouldn’t be so happy if Anaheim’s current business-friendly council majority were to be upended, which is a distinct possibility given that it is far from certain that Republican councilwomen Kris Murray and Gail Eastman will be among the top two vote-getters.”
Today, Slanderer for Hire, Cunningham observes and asks (rhetorically, one presumes):
“The sad, perplexing irony of all this is these dedicated left-wing political interests working to elect Moreno and pass Measure L are benefiting mightily from the assistance and collaboration of the Tait Family Trust, Howard Ahmanson and the OC GOP’s Local Elected Official of the Year, Tom Tait. And for what?”
Since honest commenters are not permitted on Curt Pringle’s “blog” (but those who slander our Mayor -Tom Tait – are welcomed no matter how low they go) I shall endeavor to respond in this forum.
Some things are more important than political ideology, particularly when intentionally and cynically magnified into bogeyman hysteria. Honest government is at the top of my list – a government that doesn’t pick winners based on who their “consultant” is; government that doesn’t squander HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS on pet projects that awarded based on who the contractor’s “consultant” is; government that bargains honestly on behalf of the citizenry and not on behalf of their billionaire “other party”; government that doesn’t run up debt by subterfuge, end runs, fake premises and budgetary flim-flam. In other words, my priority is klepto-free government in Anaheim.
So I voted for Jose Moreno (the real one, not the fake one the Kleptocracy dredged up to siphon votes away), even though I disagree with a lot of what he represents politically. The fact that he supports Mayor Tait is very telling, and quite reassuring.
Cunningham tosses off terms like “leftist” and “left-wing” and “radical leftist” so frequently that he renders them effectively meaningless. Hack.
What is really hilarious is that he used to make hundreds of thousands of bucks billing $200 an hour as a do-nothing “consultant” for one of the leftest programs in the State – Rob Reiner’s tax-redistribution Children and Families Commission. And he gets really bent out of shape whenever anybody reminds him of that fact.
Scratch “hilarious” and replace with “ironic.” There was nothing funny about that rip-off.
Well when Matt Cunningham’s not outing sex abuse victims, or suckling at the teat of left-wing programs, or being laughably sanctimonious, he is a bit of a scholar when it comes to sad, perplexing irony.
Scholar? Poet. Bard.
The water board met Thursday night. Besides promoting conversation, A desal plant was promoted for HTB too. And not one person spoke against that plant.
What water board?
Not a business meeting but a informational meeting
WATER SUPPLY & CONSERVATION
The City of Santa Ana (the City) and the Orange County Water District (OCWD; the District) will come together on Thursday, October 30, to share with Santa Ana residents and businesses, the steps they are taking to ensure continued water reliability and quality. The meeting will take place in the Santa Ana City Council Chambers from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will be a collaborative discussion regarding OCWD’s groundwater cleanup projects, the drought, Orange County’s water supply, water efficiency and rebate programs, and resident concerns.
