A vitamin-enhanced super-banana, to be tested on Americans will take place in the US over a six-week period. Researchers aim to start growing the fruit in Uganda by 2020.
We do not know exactly when these bananas will be sold to the (unsuspecting) public, so it could be today or next week. AND we do not know which brand of banana will be genetically modified (GMO). We are not allowed access to such information. The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), along with the biotech companies are suing to make sure we don’t know what foods are GMO. The GMA and biotech says you don’t have a right to know what you are eating or feeding your children.
I strongly recommend you BOYCOTT ALL CONVENTIONAL BANANAS and only buy organic bananas starting today. We need to continue to send a strong message to these corporations, that we will not buy their unlabeled GMO foods. Let all those conventional bananas rot in the grocery stores’ produce department.
I guarantee you store managers won’t be happy about that. They will stop buying them and buy more organic foods. Let’s be honest, grocers don’t care what they sell to the public either (GMO, NON GMO, organic), BUT they do care about their bottom line. If they can’t sell conventional bananas because customers stopped buying them, store managers will stop buying conventional and stock up on organic. Stores are in the business of selling and if something doesn’t sell, they stop buying. It’s called “supply and demand.”
I am not a lab rat and neither is my family. Are you? The biotech companies believe we are and have no problem testing their unlabeled GMOs on us, without our consent, and our government has no problem allowing them.
BOYCOTT ALL CONVENTIONAL BANANAS! And be sure to tell your produce manager why you are.
In case you didn’t know, corn, papaya, Rose’ pineapple (Del Monte), yellow squash and zucchini are all genetically modified and are unlabeled.
No more banana twinkies for King Kong.
On second thought, it’s probably too late for him …..
It would surprise me if Banana Twinkies and actual bananas share any chemical relationship-
One could “organically grow” gmo crops, if I understand the USDA correctly. Say it was organically grown using methods acceptable to USDA and be in complete compliance with the law. The citation below says nothing about the seed stock, but it might someplace else. I was sort of surprised to be honest and thought I should pass it along.
USDA Blog, Organic 101: What the USDA Organic label means.

*They don’t tell you how much mouse brains they mix in either!
‘ships – There is only a really – really – really – really – tiny, infinitesimally small amount of rat shit and brains allowed ….. in just about everything you eat.
unfortunately you are correct about that Skally. I just thought of another thing. If the GMO banana was developed in Australia, why aren’t they testing it on Australians?
*We agree……probably just has a lot of Kangeroo e-coli……mixed with some some amount of Dingo Brains and Jabberwocky hair.
The page you linked says quite clearly: “As with all organic foods, none of it is grown or handled using genetically modified organisms, which the organic standards expressly prohibit.”
The US and China colluded to feed GMO rice to kids in China without their parents knowing???? Oh, that can’t be right. Our government would never do something like that.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2201536/GMO-How-China-US-secretly-tested-genetically-modified-golden-rice-children.html
The golden rice dna was injected with vitamin A…. where have I heard that before? Oh, that’s right bananas…. what could go wrong? Six weeks should be long enough to find out any long term effects….
if we didnt have GMO’s where would be get our fruit loops from
Aaaaggghhh!!!!!!! I can’t take it!
I know I said I wouldn’t comment anymore, but SOMEBODY on this blog needs to step-up and fact-check Inge.
The REASON bananas are being genetically modified is NOT because of vitamin A enhancement but because the Cavendish banana which accounts for 95% of exported bananas is going extinct due to fungus.
People can debate the pro’s and con’s of GMO’s but you need to start that debate with FACTS and not some Alex Jones style conspiracy theories.

There is also a breeding project for vitamin-A rich banana: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/gm-banana-designed-to-slash-african-infant-mortality-enters-human-trials-9541380.html
It is intended for production only in Africa. The amount of bananas exported from Africa to US is 10 kg for research purpose. Anti-GMO-activists are often saying that gmos are not studied enough and that’s why they try to ban all gm including gm-research.
I recommend you all look up the difference between a gmo banana and a non gmo banana. For that matter, you should look up other fruits too! I guarantee that it will change your mind about gmos here’s a link:

*Whoa, a real blast from the past. Chichita Banana, United Fruit Company, American Fruit Company and seven Banana Republics later……you gotta wonder whether the Drug Cartels have always been running things for the last 50 years in Central America. Guess we need to do some research on the banks laundering of the Banana money…eh? The great thing about this article….is that General Mills has changed their behavior. Now if we could only get Kellogs to do the same thing……..probably…not ever going to happen.
