Robert Scheer on “The Surveillance State and the End of Privacy,” Thursday night, Laguna Woods.

Legendary OJ friend Jonathan Adler invites us all to a very special event this evening that you should really consider NOT missing:

Please fwd this invitation to all those in your club, group, and other contacts who’ll be glad to get their “Robert Scheer fix” right here in O.C. (unusual for him) this Thurs, 4/10, 7pm (doors open 6:30; venue details below). His talk is titled “The Surveillance State and the End of Privacy,” then Q&A.  If you know anything at all about him and his audiences, you know he’ll also talk about a lot more stuff that’s on his mind!

If you’ve heard Scheer (e.g. at OC Progressive Summit Feb. 1, Progressive Caucus at the CDP Convention, “Left, Right, and Center” on KCRW, etc.) or read him (on, Huffington Post, The Nation, his books, e.g. “The Great American Stickup,” earlier as an LA Times columnist, way back in Ramparts Magazine, etc.), you know his talks are a trip. (If he weren’t so serious a writer, I think you’d agree he could be our generation’s great Mort-Sahl-like stand-up, not just incisive but really funny too.)

And if you’ve not yet heard or read him, what are you waiting for? Just take my word: Come. You’ll be glad you did. Here’s where & how:

Clubhouse 3 Auditorium, 23822 Avenida Sevilla, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.  Click here for a zoomed-in GoogleMap “pinned” to that venue, with directions from anywhere you type in.

Community is gated. You’ll need to print out, fill in, bring & hand in the Gate Entry Slip at the bottom of the fine informative flyer at this link:

Thanks for passing along this invitation. I hope to see you there.
