For those interested in something very up to date, here’s someone transcribing the police scanner on Reddit.
And here’s another such Reddit scanner transcription that’s still ongoing as of 12:45 a.m. That thread continues here after 1 a.m. Pacific.
Here’s a Google map showing unfolding events overnight in (so far as I can tell) chronological order.
This Boston TV site seems to be highly respected among people following the story tonight as a live news aggregator.
Black cap bomber dead, with suicide IED detonating on his chest after he’s shot.
4:00 a.m.: White cap bomber on the run, possibly holed up in a building. Identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, age 19, younger brother of the black cap bomber. They’re from Russian area near Chechnya, in U.S. for >1 year as lawful permanent residents.
Black cap has been identified as his older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, subject of this fascinating post in Slate.
About Greg Diamond
Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that.
Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too.
He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.)
His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
Too early for this shit – dumb shit ASSHOLE!
You have no idea what is the target of this lampoon, do you, Grumpy?
Oh man, normally I try hard to appreciate any humor that targets OC BOS members. But this really trips my crap meter, just not funny. In fact, as much as I love to be critical of the BOS, any suggestion even in jest that Spitzer or Nelson had anything to do with the Boston bombing is just sick.
To mock a tragedy in this manner is low class.
Perhaps I just don’t “get it” – but I will accept that. I don’t get it.
I think Greg/Miss Info is attacking the media, particularly CNN and the Post, because of something irresponsible they have done in their coverage. Not attacking the Supes.

Hint: it’s not Nelson and Spitzer (well, only mildly and tangentially Spitzer for being a mic hog in tragedies, but that’s not even 1% of it.)
“Irresponsible not to speculate…” – classic Noonan line.
Let me reiterate – FUCKING ASSHOLE!
You may surely reiterate — it’s most of what you do.
I get that there has been confusion. I get that there has been misinformation. I get that the press generated reporting that was later shown to be in error.
Have a little mercy, afterall two bombs went off and hundreds of people were hurt and three died. There was panic, pain and…yes confusion.
That said, I don’t find this literary effort to suggest criticism of the press via a “story” using identities of two board members to be interesting, intellectual, inspiring or illuminating.
It is idiotic.
Time and place. Time and place.
Thank you for your feedback.
Thanks Miss, for providing contrast to your really good articles.
The decent thing to do.
From Slate:
The only thing that stopped Tamerlan Tsarnaev was that he ran out of ammunition.
