There’s a video out now of a campaign event where Barack Obama defines the term “Romnesia.” Here’s the link. Don’t click it yet. (Note: this is as of 2:10 p.m. Friday. If you’re reading this later than that, use your own judgment.)
I tried watching the video and immediately my computer time-traveled back half a decade or more. Every 10 seconds, I was getting maybe 1/8 of a second of footage. I remember from the old days what must be happening. Something like ten billion people — yes, I realize that that’s more than exist — must be trying to watch the thing at once. Then my computer made a sound that was not a signal that it was breaking, exactly, but sort of a Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter sound — I’ll let someone else find and post a link to that clip (you know which one I mean.)
It sounded sort of like the sound that I expect that Josh Romney was making inside his head when this photo was taken of him.
I had to shut everything down. When I started it up, a special blue screen that I’ve never seen before came up and I had to promise to it that I’d never do that again.
So, I’m going to wait a while before the next time I try to click that video. It’s here for you, though. And if you want a transcript because you just can’t wait, it’s over here.
P.S. You probably think I’m kidding. Would you risk the life of your computer or phone on it?
Am I the only one who wonders who is running our country with all this campaigning going on? Exactly how much time is spent actually working while these politicians are in office?
I respect you alot Greg but all I can think about is the ton of bullshit that comes out of the mouths of all the candidates. They make promises they cannot keep.
Take the pre-existing healthcare statement. Sure insurers have to take people with pre-exsiting conditions, but no mention that insurers decide how much to charge them and that IF the person can afford the premium, can they afford to get medical care because of the high deductibles and co-pays? The ones who make out are the insurance companies.
How about this agreement between the owner of the Olive Garden and Red Lobster?

or another story about Darden Foods only hiring part time employees to get out of paying any employee healthcare benefits.

This will become the new trend. Everyone works 29 hours a week so companies avoid the penalty and requirement to offer insurance, but employee will be mandated to buy private policy. Less money in paycheck + high insurance premiums or crappy low cost insurance that covers nothing = unhappy citizens.
I don’t think employers should have to flip the bill for insurance premiums. They are ridiculous expensive and will continue to go up. Single payer is the only way to go; medicare for all. That way we all share equally, but I don’t think Americans are ready for that because some view themselves as superior to others. They want to get the best medical treatment for themselves but they don’t want their gardener, nanny, etc. to get the same benefits.
The cost of healthcare is ridiculous as well. The cost of my Pet Scan that took about 2 hours total is $9,000. I saw the bill. I do that 2 times a year and that doesn’t include the 3 doctors I saw that month to discuss the same results. The same tests in other countries are nowhere near that.
And since I am on a roll, I will include the need for personal responsibility. Anyone with a pulse knows that fast food is bad; so is smoking and recreational drugs but people do it anyway.
