Julio Perez Continues to Lead Field in Fundraising
Campaign Filings Show Strong Support from Broad-Based Coalition in 69th Assembly District Race
Santa Ana, CA -The Julio Perez for Assembly campaign announced today it continues to lead the field in fundraising, raising more than $68,000 in the period from January 1 to March 17. This brings the campaign’s total to more than $182,000 raised, which is nearly twice the amount of either of his two main opponents. The campaign also reported nearly $100,000 cash on hand – more than any of his rivals in the 69th Assembly District race.
“This campaign is about ending the political games and getting California back on track.” said Julio Perez. “My campaign has won a broad-base of support because of where I stand on the issues in my fight for working families. Our momentum continues to grow and I am pleased we will have the resources to wage a winning campaign.”
According to campaign finance reports filed with the California Secretary of State’s office for the period covering January 1 to March 17, the Perez for Assembly campaign reported receiving $68,070 in contributions with $94,545 cash on hand. In its 2011 year-end finance report, the campaign reported receiving more than $114,000 in contributions from nearly 300 donors.
The Perez for Assembly campaign continues to lead the field in endorsements, including support from classroom teachers, nurses and public safety.

Perez touts his $94K cash on hand, but doesn’t mention that Michele Martinez has $91K cash on hand. Seems like more “Puffery” from a wannabe politician
Yeah, Julio! Why don’t you brag on your opponents as well, silly?
This is especially insightful because $94K is not actually “more” than $91K, as he claims, unless one uses the operations of liberal mathematics. All right-thinking people must condemn Perez’s non-misstatement for its unquestionable accuracy!
Good. Maybe he can use some of it to rent an apartment.
It shocks me that this is what we have to offer in the way of canidates. Here’s a grown man, 33 years old who rents a bedroom in a ramshackle house. He is aparently riddled in bad debt has no political experience to speak of, yet raises nearly a $100 grand!!!
If this isn’t a messed up sytem I don’t know what is.
Did he ever settle the residency question. I know his publcist, Voice Of Orange County, showed a Ralphs card or something, but has he commented about it.
The Paco guy is looking better and better!
You need to read more before you write. Yes, the residency question is settled.
One good thing I’ll say about Paco is that I don’t get the sense that he’d approve of your supporting him by slamming someone over not being well-off. Perez has devoted himself to working for people who need help. As for “no political experience” — the fact that he’s raised well-over $100K (the $94K is just cash on hand) should tell you that you’re missing something.
What’s interesting in looking at the reports is seeing how badly Tom Daly’s fundraising sucks. He only shows 119 total contributions. Some of these are related donors. For example, seven contributions come from attorneys with Dick Ackerman’s law firm, Nossaman LLP and there’s also a $1,000 contribution directly from Nossaman LLP. Daly’s flunky Jordan Brandman gave $150, and Jordan’s dad gave $1,000. Disney Worldwide made two direct contributions, and there was a big chunk from the Disney-funded S.O.A.R.
All in all, this is a sad little list for a guy who is the only county-wide elected Democrat especially considering that he hired, Genelle Buchert, an excellent fundraising consultant and through this cycle had paid her company $15,000 in fees plus expenses.
What’s Daly’s path to victory if nobody likes him, or he is too lazy to make the fund-raising calls?
Silly Quimby — Daly doesn’t have to campaign himself! He has people for that!
(You know — probably SuperPACs that will be funded by the likes of SOAR.)
Oh, but the organization of coddled, labor-unfriendly, Anaheim hotels, S.O.A.R., loves him. Let me send you that press release, one of us needs to do a story on it. I say it’s time this blog got tough with Daly.
Sadly Daly won’t need to raise the kind of money that Michele and especially Julio will need to win this seat. Daly has great name ID already so he won’t have to do as much mail to get his name out there.
Julio and Michele to a much lesser extent are going to have to spend a lot more money just to get folked familiar with who they are. Daly is much better known.
Don’t worry if Daly feels like he’s threatened the money will come pouring in from his Republican supporters and the wealthy Dems that support him just because he has a “D” next to his name.
He doesn’t need the money now, he will make the runoff for sure. He do much more fundraising before November.
I dunno dude, both us Julio supporters and you Michele supporters mostly gotta get the area’s Latinos to the polls! That’s probably the only way to stop Daly.
He doesn’t have wealthy Dem supporters “that support him just because he has a ‘D’ next to his name.” The support is based on the policies he supports, which often just happen not to be progressive. The SOAR endorsement is an example of their “go-along” philosophy.
Maybe its time for the 69th to turn white.
Six year with a Latino man, 2 years with a white man, 6 years with a Latino man, 2 years with a White man (I think).
