About Greg Diamond
Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that.
Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too.
He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.)
His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
I’m resigned that it’ll eventually be Romney. But, the longer we keep them fighting the better. Santorum or Gingrich or Paul or whoever will be constantly trashing Romney for his flipfloppy unreliability, and for being a closet moderate, and that will stick for the general. Because it’s true.
It’s been wildly entertaining to watch these people try to “out-conservative” each other. I’m thinking that these candidates are going to lurch so far to the right that by the time one of them gets the nomination, they’ll be anathema to independents. In other words, damaged goods.
Buddy Roemer, former Dem Congresscritter turned Governor of Louisiana, where he switched parties mid-term. He went on to become a banker and aspirant to return to political power. Some of an old-fashioned Republican: not insane, but unprincipled. Think Haley Barbour.
But the point of his candidacy, and the reason he’s been on Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz so many times even though he’s conservative, is his refusal to take corporate money. Or any contributions larger than – I forget – a very modest sum.
Thus, I’m not sure the word “unprincipled” is fair. Unless you know some other bad things about Buddy that I don’t.
Predictions:
Ron Paul: 31%
Santorum:28%
Romney: 26%
Gingrich: 6%
Perry: 4%
Bachmann: 3%
Huntsman: 1%
Roemer: 1%
Daily Kos consensus predictions on who will win (not vote %, as I have above):
Santorum: 36%
Romney: 30%
Paul: 29%
Bachmann: 1%
Huntsmann: 1% (probably meant as a joke)
Gingrich: 0.7%
Perry: 0.4%
As of now, based on Google’s summary:
Santorum: 24%
Romney: 24%
Paul: 22%
Gingrich: 13%
Perry: 10%
Bachmann: 6%
Huntsmann: 1%
I know I once ate at a Pizza Club in Harlan.
Shittiest pizza in America. NO LIE.
88% in:
Santorum and Romney with 25% apiece; Santorum slipped ahead by 50 votes last I saw.
Paul is at 21%. What reason was there for Paulites not to vote for Paul? Maybe that’s just it for him.
Gingrich and Perry still at 13% and 10%. They might still have the chops to go on to the South.
Bachmann’s 5% is terrible. She was leading Santorum just a little while ago, now this. She should suspend her campaign.
Huntsman-badger is at 1%, but he don’t care. He’ll be chewing into Romney soon.
With just under 92% of the vote counted, Santorum leads Romney … by eight votes out of 55,550+ for the two combined.
I demand a recount!
Please, let Santorum get the nomination. Please.

Well Bachmann is out. I wonder what sort of prank god is going to play on her in his next chapter.
She can now go back to her 23 foster kids, gay husband, and swatting at the bats flying around her head.
Do I need to send you pics of Occupy Rose Parade? And OC participation?
YES YOU DO, DOUBLE – I!
Who the hell is Roemer: 1%

Historically he’s been unprincipled; maybe he has reformed and gotten over it. That would explain his only getting 31 votes there yesterday.
RAPFARTS ONE TERM PRES .. its coming enjoy its about CHANGE . yes change after he has messed up this country ..
