I have stayed out of the immigration/illegal immigration/DREAM Act debates until now. We’ve heard the term “secure borders” and “immigration reform” from the rabid anti-immigration activists at Tea Party rallies and other assorted events the past few years. At first, I thought these overzealous folk were making too much of a big deal about letting people come here, achieve the American Dream or get a decent path to US citizenship. Thanks to the efforts of fine Americans like Tom Tancredo, Chelene Nightingale, Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the pride of Stockholm, Allan Mansoor, I have seen the error of my ways and have decided to conform. I will now be joining the angry mob toting pitchforks and torches telling those funny accented citizens that we speak American here. I also look forward to Orange Juice founder Art Pedroza and other activists in the community calling me a hater as I write up this anti-immigrant screed.
Like the aforementioned, I also believe the flow of illegal immigrants are the biggest threat to our national security. If we don’t stop the invasion of these people from coming over our borders, America as we know it today will become a 3rd world country. The time is now to secure our borders and tell these illegal immigrants to “take off!” Border security needs to be job #1.

If we don’t stop these people from coming over our borders and influencing us with their culture, our children will lose their American identity, speak with funny accents and end up looking like these alcoholic dregs of society. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!!
It’s all about jobs for Americans. Otherwise people like this will be taking million dollar NHL jobs from hard working American hockey players. It was bad enough that we lost the gold medal Olympic hockey game to the likes of….. these people. Did I also mention that the Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings are outsourcing their jobs to these people?
Do you want to lose the World Series trophy and cede the title of America’s Pastime to these people again? It’s bad enough that we have to sit through their national anthem when they come to play the Angels every year. 
Maybe losing the title of America’s Pastime and the World Series trophy isn’t a big deal to you. But how about losing the title of “Budweiser: The King of Beers” to these people?
Are you angry yet? Is the thought of losing the American way of life to the likes of Bob and Doug MacKenzie, the Toronto Blue Jays and Wayne Gretzky making you ill? How much longer can we let these uninvited guests influence our culture and our children? Remember we speak American here and don’t use the stupid metric system. You don’t want the metric system, do you?

Now that I have read your contempt for immigrants (spec. Mexicans), I suppose I should share your sentiments for people who come into my land through illegal means. Since my spouse and I have some Chippewa as part of our ancestral lineage, I speak for our ancestors who were part of the original Border Patrol and say to you in monosyllabic English words that you can understand (I’m assuming that you are of Anglo-European descent)….

Mexico took a major hit with their Macquiladora manufacturing once China and other far east nations cranked up their low cost labor. Manufacturing once was sent to Mexico in the 1970’s to 1980’s has since been shifted across the Pacific where total costs were low enough to overcome the disadvantage of shipment by sea competing with overland trucks entering the USA in TX and CA.
In that sense Mexico has the same problems faced by labor in the USA . Loss of jobs.
As to NAFTA I voted for the candidate with the “voodoo stick” named Ross Perot. He opposed NAFTA which for those of us who follow manufacturing (and acronyms) translates into “No American Factories Taking Applications”
In promoting NAFTA it was pointed out that Mexcio was the leading trade partner with the USA. Today they have fallen behind Canada and China
NAFTA was a corporate Republican scam that too many corporate conservative Democrats – most notably President Clinton – joined in on. I’m glad me and Larry agree on the issue of trade, at least in this case.

This was to be but one leg of the North American Trade Corridor moving goods from Mexico to Canada
This super freeway was to be one quarter mile wide and may have condemned over 500,000 acres of private property in Texas.

When you buy into the process of citizenship in a republic, you concede part of your power to the republic. It is very different to have a business where people except a paycheck every two weeks and you have not the funds because you just paid 15,000 to State fund and 10,000 for liability!

AUSTIN – Texas faces a budget crisis of truly daunting proportions, with lawmakers likely to cut sacrosanct programs such as education for the first time in memory and to lay off hundreds if not thousands of state workers and public university employees.
Texas’ GOP leaders, their eyes on the Nov. 2 election, have played down the problem’s size, even as the hole in the next two-year cycle has grown in recent weeks to as much as $24 billion to $25 billion. That’s about 25 percent of current spending.
The gap is now proportionately larger than the deficit California recently closed with cuts and fee increases, its fourth dose of budget misery since September 2008.

If Mexico was like Canada or any other western nation, none of this would be an issue. The Mexican government is corrupt and doesn’t take care of its people. Fix Mexico and our problems will be much less than the problems we have with Canadians abusing the U.S. border. Why? Because Mexico has nicer weather and if all things were equal, there would be fewer people trying to flee Mexico than Canada.
