In a sign of growing desperation, Alfredo Amezcua’s mayoral campaign has hired human signs to stand on the corner of 17th and Main St., in front of the Norm’s Restaurant.
This is ironic since Amezcua is supported by the Usual Suspects, which include Debbie McEwen and Julie Stroud. Both of them have been very vocal opponents to the use of human signs.
Stroud in fact used to scream about human signs at every single Santa Ana NICE Committee (which was not nice to immigrants) meeting.
I am pretty sure these guys were paid human signs. I spoke to them and they had no idea who Amezcua is. It was just a job. In which case Amezcua violated the Cal/OSHA Outdoor Workers Heat Illness regulation. Only one worker had drinking water and they were not provided with shade.

If they are friends of Amezquas I say call out the gang unit!
Art,
this posting is funny…at least I can laugh at something for now!
1) If you check the picture they ARE in the shade …see the sun in the background. Plus they are wearing caps.
2) If they need more shade or water…they are in front of NORMS…within a few steps of more water…and in case of EMERGENCY as we said in the Marines…Improvise – Adapt – Survive! They can use THE SIGN as Shade (if they tilt it just right.)
3) I will be going out in a few minutes and be a VOLUNTEER HUMAN SIGN, near my house near corner of Newport and Hazard (in Santa Ana)…nobody asked me to be a human sign.
P.S. Whatever happens in this race…we should ALL be prepared to support whomever our ELECTED OFFICIALS are…in Fed/State/District/City Offices and School Boards…once in office our elected officials work for ALL of us irrespective of party affiliation, and they NEED both our support…and our “magnifying glass” to keep a close eye on them, and hold them accountable.
But again, Let’s ALL Unite as Citizens!

LOL! But don’t let McEwen catch you acting as a human sign! She might call the cops!
She can bring me some “ICE” and Water if she is worried about my health or possible heat exhaustion.
Oh by the Way I WILL be a volunteer HUMAN SIGN for the ALFREDO AMEZCUA campaign.
Goog for him!
First results in: Amezqua is going to do worse than John Raya! Looks like Amezqua couldn’t even get his extended family or fellow gangbangers to come out and vote for him!!! Good Night Al!
Pobrecito Al. Maybe he and his daughter can share their experiences of running for political office.
“Oh by the Way I WILL be a volunteer HUMAN SIGN for the ALFREDO AMEZCUA campaign.”
Hey how’d that work out for you Francisco? Doesn’t look like your efforts paid off too well for Amezcua, the “usual suspects” and the Coalition of No.
Sean:
I was FOR supporting something – the ideas that Alfredo Amezcua was sharing, and NOT necessarily about being AGAINST something or AGAINST someone…What I had difficulty was understanding or hearing from our Mayor and about his ideas.
And how did this work out for me…As I said yesterday,
“Whatever happens in this race…we should ALL be prepared to support whomever our ELECTED OFFICIALS are…in Fed/State/District/City Offices and School Boards…once in office our elected officials work for ALL of us irrespective of party affiliation, and they NEED both our support…and our “magnifying glass” to keep a close eye on them, and hold them accountable….But again, Let’s ALL Unite as Citizens!”
Additionally, I had the opportunity to learn more about Alfredo Amezcua and his ideas and to see him and respect him as a community leader.
And although Alfredo came out “second” in this race, I know Alfredo has “first” place ideas that should be considered as Mayor Pulido and the City Council deliberate about how to improve our city…I think this will be ensured if our Elected Leaders are considerate of and inclusive of dedicated and capable community leaders.
The passion for the future of our youth and our city continues!

“I know Alfredo has “first” place ideas”
Francisco,
Can you please share with us what those ideas might be. The Amezcua campaign failed to articulate them during their dismal campaign. Al ran a smear campaign based on attack after attack. He never told us would he would do for us, he just kept saying he wasn’t Miguel Pulido.
You do realize that many of Al’s biggest supporters are some of the biggest bashers of the poor and immigrant community? One of the folks that held a fund raiser for Al wants people that are forced to resort to digging through trash to survive to be arrested. Real progressive agenda there Francisco.
I agree with you Sean! I’m no expert on politics but I’d say Al needed a few less human signs and a lot more human voters!
Why did Amezcua lose? Because his supporters couldn’t vote from jail!
