Republican Assemblywoman Diane Harkey is so horrible that many of her fellow Republicans have been trying to get rid of her, ever since she first got elected. Click here to check out the official Recall Harkey website.
So what can we do? How about supporting Judy Jones, the Democrat who is running against Harkey this November. Click here to learn about a fundraiser for Jones that is coming up on Sep. 26.
According to the Recall Harkey site, Harkey has:
- Threatened to sue her own constituents
- Demonstrated rampant paranoia
- Rewarded campaign contributors
- Bullied property owners
- Violated state ethics regulations
- Advocated for kickbacks
- Cursed out residents
- And Harkey’s businesses have been levied 14 times for unpaid taxes in amounts as large as $49,119.
Harkey’s legacy as a former Dana Point Council Member pretty much tells the rest of the story:
- a failed Town Center project;
- more government spending;
- more regulations;
- more city employees;
- fewer businesses.
Harkey’s husband got sued for a real estate lending scheme that lost a ton of money for his investors – and she got sucked into that mess as well. Click here to read about that.
And, as you might expect, we caught Harkey paying Red County editor Matt Cunningham to shill for her. Click here to read about that.
How better to send a message to the lame OC GOP than to boot Harkey by electing her Democratic opponent! Vote for Judy Jones!
It occours to me that the whole “Jerbal” thing has lost it’s steam.
Obviously, Republicans, nor concerned citizens give a hoot that this guy took $$$ to defend pedophile priests (reportedly for FREE TUITION for his own kids). He is a disgusting creep. A pervert in his own right. They bash Loretta for going to the Playboy Mansion. It would be along time before I allowed my kid to go to his daughters pool party with that sicko supervising!
He made more than a $100K working for a sham commission set up by uber liberal Rob Riener, yet Chip “Red County” Hanlon still stands by him.
His wife has hustled herself to NUMEROUS dem canidates in as a “Hispanic Outreach” expert, I can only imagine what that job entails.
Maybe’s it’s time we stap paying attention to “JUBAL” Scott Baugh has. That leaves Dan C. and Matt in thier own little world!
Maybe so my friend but it would be great to tee him off by knocking out Harkey!
Matt Cunningham outed sex-abuse victims.
Like any Republican voters read the OJ!
Red County just copied our Brea firefighter post.
Diane was great on the Fairgrounds issue. Like almost all legislators, she voted in favor of the sale back on that late night in July 2009, but she was very confused – she’d got the message all the other OC lawmakers got, that “Costa Mesa wants it sold” – we still haven’t figured out where that crazy message came from – and she went around all over the capiol that night – as an unknown rookie assemblywoman – trying to figure out what was going on, but eventually was convinced to vote for it as part of that year’s insane budget deal. As everybody but Jim Silva and Mike Duvall did.
Once we talked to her a few months later though, she became the most outspoken lawmaker for derailing the sale. She had the guts to say repeatedly, that a politician needs to be able to admit when they made a mistake, and put all their energy into fixing that mistake. I’d say she became the strongest of the OC contingent at trying to stop the sale of the Fairgrounds. She was a real fireball – an equestrian too!
Still, given all her other reactionary positions, I agree – vote Judy Jones. Just had to give Diane props for the one experience we’ve had with her.
She also took a stance against the HSR boondoggle (sorry Vern!)
I know, I know. Whadaya think I’m so wet behind the ears that I expect someone to agree with me all the time because she does once?
I think we’d agree that’s her showing spunk and independence twice, no?
