Republican Assemblyman Van Tran has challenged Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez to four debates, according to the O.C. Register.
Tran’s fellow Republicans, Don Wagner and John Campbell, have so far refused to debate their opponents, Melissa Fox, Beth Krom and Debbie Tharp.
What are we to make of politicians who hide from the voters? In my opinion, that alone is reason NOT to vote for them.
Sanchez ought to be able to handle Tran, after years in Congress, you would think.
Wagner loves to pontificate and Campbell is selling shirts about “joining the resistance.” C’mon boys, man up and debate!
If these politicians refuse to debate their opponents, that will tell us what they think of the voters.
Would love to see Campbell get some hard questions, like why he supported TARP.
Go read Wagner’s candidate statement to see how he really feels about voters.
Um, actually Don’s candidate statement is pretty ok. Of course, it is only a few words, and therefore completely incapable of showing his real positions on all the issues that matter.
Here it is:
Top Priorities if Elected
* Fight the growth of state government in terms of overspending, over taxation, over regulation, and unsustainable public employee union benefits.
* Reduce the scope and complexity of numerous California Codes, including the Education Code, the Labor Code, and the Revenue and Taxation Code.
* Grow the conservative/limited government presence in Sacramento to stop the reckless regulating, spending, and governing of the past decade.
Key Endorsements
* California Republican Assembly
* Family Action PAC
* Congressman Dana Rohrabacher
I can get behind all of that stuff I think… Too bad he’s a Republicrat. Also, he’s a social conservative and thinks that he has every right to legislate what you do in the privacy of your own home with your own free time. Of course he is a big drug warrior, and as everyone knows, drug laws, being invasive as they are, require a great deal of government to enforce. So I don’t really see how he can say that he is going to “Grow the conservative/limited government presence in Sacramento to stop the reckless regulating, spending, and governing of the past decade” while at the same time supporting a massive war against our own population. The drug war doesn’t just cost lives, Don, it costs money too. And it takes a lot of government to commit all of those civil rights violations.
You absolutely CANNOT say that you are for small government while at the same time saying that you support the war on drugs. It is an oxymoron.
The Republicrats and Demicans are obsolete. The damage is done. They need to get the hell out of the way and let us go about the business of cleaning up their damn mess!
