I received a copy of recently elected Supervisor Shawn Nelson’s newsletter in my electronic in-basket Friday afternoon.
Other than the redistricting issue that we reported on here, the thing’s all about art walks and pets of the week and the Lion’s Field astro turf. Sort of light in the loafers, issues-wise, but I guess we can cut Nelson some slack since he just got into office a few weeks ago and may not have much to report. Still, the puffery on events and wonderful County parks, etc. really needs to be condensed into something a lot more substantive.
Oops, got the date and the month wrong, too!
Anyway, here it is:
I enjoyed the newsletter and I don’t mind a little positive information given all the negative news we face each day. Here, here well done Mr. Nelson!
Your tax dollars at work. ‘Nuff said.
One of the few things that Moorlach’s been doing is bagging the pablum newsletter and sending out fairly regular emails tied to news events or issues he was directly involved with — this works well for him and I get much more detailed and focused information than the slop sent out by the other Supes. He generally will respond to emails too. For reasons unknown, Moorlach’s production of all this has been way down this summer.
Nelson should consider that, even if he has to dictate it to someone on his staff who can transcribe it. No one gives a shit about ribbon cuttings.
“No one gives a shit about ribbon cuttings”
Don’t write about ribbon cuttings and critics will say nothing new has opened or been dedicated, etc.
Keep up the great work Shawn. Some of us do care about the good news items as well..
I would mostly like to hear about mishaps and injuries at ribbon cuttings.

I would agree with Vern and add that I especially enjoy hearing about mishaps involving those giant scissors!
Looks like the work of Denis Bilodeau. About what I expected from him.
