Does the sudden demise of Thomas Gordon’s campaign for Ward 6 on the Santa Ana City Council, for his failure to collect enough nomination signatures, mark the end of the Era of Usual Suspects?

Santa Ana’s Usual Suspects ruled our city with an iron fist, for too many years.  But look at the November ballot.  Sure, they still have Councilman David Benavides, who is running unopposed, and they have his sidekick, Councilman Carlos Bustamante, but that’s it.  Those two are seated at the little kids’ table…

Mayor Miguel Pulido has turned on the Usual Suspects.  And his top challenger, Alfredo Amezcua, has only raised $8,200 so far.  Pulido already has $45,000 on hand.
