The 2010 Major League Baseball All Star Game arrives with much fanfare today in Anaheim, where Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz won the Home Run Derby yesterday.
I expect that some of Orange County’s wealthiest elite will be there, along with folks who bought season tickets and a lot of out of town visitors. There will also be protesters there.
Activists will be there today to protest next year’s MLB All Star Game, which is scheduled to be in Phoenix, Arizona, home of the dreadful SB 1070 racial profiling law.
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig predictably issued a statement indicating that MLB has no intention of moving the game elsewhere. However, many of his own players and managers disagree with that notion.
Fifteen players have spoken out against the bill: Jorge Cantu, Augie Ojeda, Michael Young Frank Francisco. Alexei Ramírez, Adrian Gonzalez. César Izturis, Heath Bell. Rod Barajas, Scott Hairston. Joe Saunders. Bobby Abreu, Yorvit Torrealba, José Guillén, and Kyle McClellan.
And White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen has already said he will boycott the game if it is played in Arizona.
There is also word that the Minutemen will be at Anaheim Stadium today, which means there will be six or so angry people there – likely including Lupe Moreno – the Santa Ana resident that Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides recently tried to honor at a Santa Ana City Council meeting.

Sad that upholding existing law becomes a grounds for protest. Either have the law changed or abide by it – it really is that simple.

Some that are undocumented may hop the fence with stadium assistance if the stadium needs cheap labor. This is how it works nationally.
You know some industries like the dairy industry actually pay the crossing of the border for their cheap labor needs and then deduct it from their pay checks

The protesters are not advocating anything illegal. On the contrary they are advocating the rule of law by protecting the US Constitution and through Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
On the other hand you advocate profiling, violation of human/ civil rights and torture of alledged terrorists. These actions are ILLEGAL. What part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand? Why do you not uphold the rule of law like the protesters you dislike?

This is not how SB1070 works. Nice propaganda on your part though. SB 1070 makes being undocumented a state crime. The law then gives officers the right under suspicion of a crime , being undocumented, to stop question, detain and deport. In your example the stop does not need the speeding part as undocumented is a crime. Suspicion of beign undocumented is all required for the stop.
Most Police Chiefs do not support this including those in Arizona.
