“Last week California’s senior senator, Democrat Dianne Feinsteincosigned the ballot argument against Prop. 19, The Regulate, Control & Tax Cannabis Initiative of 2010, which would allow adults 21 years or older to privately possess and cultivate marijuana for personal use,” according to the L.A. Times.
Fail.
Ironically the California Young Democrats signed on to support Prop. 19. And there is the rub – this initiative is going to bring young voters to the polls. But decrepit Democrats like Feinstein and California Gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown are siding with the Republicans on this measure.
Why would Feinstein and Brown want to prolong the failed drug war?
If Brown loses to Meg Whitman we will know why that happened.
By the way former United States Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders has agreed to endorsethe ballot measure, and her name will appear in the California voter guide.
Elders gets it. Brown and Feinstein? Not at all.
When it comes down to it. Very few of the “ELECTED ELITE” Democrat or Republican will end up supporting this iniative. No matter how reasonable it may be.
Di-Fi is in her seventies, she is a millionare tied to BIG money. She is not going to support this…………just yet. She’ll be dead when they leagalize it but if she lives ten more years she would jump on the train.
The Pot train is moving slowly, but it is long with lot’s of heavy cars and SIX BIG locamotives in front and a couple more engines who will join and push from the back. Unlike the GAY MARRIAGE train that is trying to RUSH THROUGH THE STATION. the pro dope guys seem to be more paitient and strategic.
As an aside, If Matt Cunninghams canidate for Senate Mr. Huffington had beat Dianne, we’d be looking at a HOMOSEXUAL, Pro – Marijuana, Anti- Oil Drilling Republican.
Makes you wonder?????
I think my age allows me to have an opinion on political parties. Neither one is really worthy of the People’s representation. Let’s face it, the people only have the power for one day (election day) and, after that, the politicians quickly show their lies & do as they please.
Well Vern, this is another proof that California Democratic party is everything but progressive.
Just good old bloševiks who steal, rape and pillage.
Have any brain cells that actually work there, Stan?
Sure, I am using Vern Nelson’s cells. Seems to work.
If so, perhaps you can supply some facts to support your usage of the terms “rape” and “pillage.”
DiFi also went against Prop 5 in 2008, which was erroneously dubbed “The Drug Dealer’s Bill of Rights.” For some reason, I don’t see throwing $40 billion a year nationally into a sinkhole as a model of fiscal conservatism (hear that Don Wagner?). To DiFi’s credit, at least she doesn’t claim to be a “fiscal conservative.”
Potheads need to pay more in taxes, a lot more.
So I will vote YEA on the tax the potheads prop 19, they are too stoned to know any better.
I assume you’re just kidding around, unless you don’t know that millions of Americans enjoy pot and are not “potheads” as implied in your foolish little sobriquet.
The Democratic Party establishment supports the drug war — which assaults youth of color more than anything else.
Gabriel,
Very true. One of many reasons that I am a Libertarian and not a Dem.
And one of the reasons I am a Democratic Party INSURGENT.
