The new Arizona state law (SB 1070), which restores to the citizens of Arizona their constitutional right to protect their lives and property, has caused morally bankrupt politicians and pro-illegal immigrant groups to demand a boycott of Arizona.
What colossal chutzpah! Instead of boycotting the sovereign state of Arizona, we should be boycotting MEXICO! This lawless, third-world country has become a haven for drug cartels and common criminals. The truth is American tourists are UNSAFE while travelling in Mexico. The Mexican police are either in cahoots with or intimidated by the criminal element in that country.
In the past, we have taken cruises, either directly to Mexico, or stopped at Mexican ports on the way to the Panama Canal. No more. We will not spend our money or support Mexico until and unless they clean up their act.
Our next vacation, in June 2010, will be to the beautiful state of Arizona, where we will visit Flagstaff, Sedona, and Prescott. We look forward to spending our time and money there in support of the courageous people of Arizona.

I agree with the auther. The Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Scotsdale, are all great vacation spots. Show your support for this beautiful State and plan your vacations now.
Warning to all people of all colors !!! Stay away from Arianzona, I repeat Stay away from Arianzona !!!
Yeah, don’t worry, we already got that message from Governor Brewer. Nobody wants to go to Arianzona now.
After the genocide committed on people of color by the white racist of the United States of America, including Mexican’s, now they want to defend the immoral and racist legislation and not be attacked by people of conscience. It isn’t surprising that the racist war against Mexico and the taking of the Southwest dose not enter into the bigoted rational of their institutionalized racism. It is reflective of the ignorance and stupidity of the electorate and populace as a whole. How discouraging to have to educate children pointing out to them that this country was based on racism, genocide, and ethnic cleansing. This country is the most corrupt in the history of the world. I was born here, fought and bled for this country, but I’ll be damn if I allow my children to fight for or die for this corruption. I will not live the lie any longer.
Even if astronomy is not your bag (baby), try to get to Kitt Peak.
The world’s largest collection of optical telescopes is located high above the Sonoran Desert under some of the finest night skies in the world. Kitt Peak, on the Tohono O’odham Reservation, is home to twenty-four optical and two radio telescopes representing eight astronomical research institutions.

Be amazed.
Thanks for the tip, MG, but I think we should wait till after SB 1070 is found unconstitutional, as you yourself predicted.
the 9th division court of appeals wich is the most liberal courts of all already found this o.k 3 times . when the illegal alien activist tried to stop that other law wich escapes my mind right now . im all for this lets boycott mexico , los angeles , santa ana , all cities wich take in californias biggest inport ILLEGAL ALIENS .
Thanks for the tip, MG, but I think we should wait till after SB 1070 is found unconstitutional, as you yourself predicted.
I believe obama is an unconstitutional president, but that would never stop me from visiting D.C. during his regime.
You – seriously – a BIRTHER? Well I never! Hey guys, look – we’ve got a BIRTHER on the blog! Hey middleground. Come over here. Let me get my picture taken with you. This is so cool! Wait till I tell my dad!
Eddie,
Your anger is directed at the wrong country.
The USA:
1. Fuels the drug cartel wars and associated crimes in Mexico and in the USA by USA residents demanding and consuming the drugs.
2. The USA though subsidies to USA industries (oil, dairy, agriculture) has destroyed these industries in Mexico and assists these industries in the USA to bring cheap labor for them from Mexico legally and not.
3.The USA is weak on immigration control because the USA is now dependent on a influx of youth from Mexico to fuel our economy and support the aging baby boomers.
4. The USA is weak on immigration control because of pressure from different industries dependant on cheap labor.
Those that are ignorant and/or those with agendas ignore the real source of the problem for political, racist and economic manipulation.
MAYBE YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BOYCOTTING THE USA?
Let us get together for immigration reform. This is the solution, not the “Arizona Law”.
Those hell bent on remedies like the “Arizona LA” only expose their true agenda.
I live in Arizona and my skin is brown. People playing the race card is utter B.S! I fully support sb1070 because we have a BIG problem with illegals wether you like it or not. Enough is enough, if your here illegally it is a crime, plain and simple. This is not a new law, this is a federal law. AZ is simply adopting it. I love my state and I encourage anyone who supports this law to go to Gov. Brewers website and sign the petition to show your support!
Timothy,
I do not see any post here throwing the race card. Your color of skin does not have anything to do with your ability or willingness with facing up to the USA’s involvement in the problem.
Simply, in my case I am presenting facts of the USA’s role in producing the problem.
From your post you are doing exactly what I said some do for political, racist and economic manipulation…..you are ignoring the source of the problem and hell bent on blaming a part of the picture you have a special interest in (Mexicans).
how about we do nothing! I’m fine with letting Arizona do what they want. Just don’t let it happen in CA.
Irvine Reporter,
Let Arizona do what? the “Arizoina Law” is a red herring.
the “Arizona Law” is a red herring.
Interesting statement, Doc. A red herring of course is meant to distract. Are you saying this law is meant to distract us from the need for immigration reform, or what?
I agree #10… Mexican Activist for,” immigration preference”.. are doing more harm than good for the so called “We are human”, Cause..
I was in Chicago this week end .. I was sitting beside a black woman, while on the train. In came a immigration reform protester, with a shirt that stated ” This is my land”, the lady turned to me and said…”If this is his land why is he protesting to stay here?”…. “Good Question”, I said!
Another guy had, “We were here first”, I was thinking …And these idiots want the Americans to welcome them with open arms?
I saw a sea of flags, the big ones, all Mexican!
Yes let Arizona do their job and hopefully we will follow suit.. Hispanic immigration (south of the border) has become not only painful to the wallet, but also to the ass!
Vern,
Absolutely. It is a distraction from:
The USA:
Attention is drawn away from the true guilty party. In doing so those not interested in a solution will appose IMMIGRATION REFORM in order to continue their interested in economic, racist and political manipulation.
Solving the issue through immigration reform does away with agendas based on economic, racist and political manipulation.
Here lies the difficulty in passing immigration reform. That is, the hurdles those with agendas will place so no reform occurs in order to protect their special interests.
Politicians need the issue to campaign on, Racists need the issue to fuel their hate and USA industries need cheap labor. Also those dependent on public services for employment need the issue for obvious reasons.
That leaves the rest of us to understand the problem and the agendas those that oppose immigration reform have. Understanding this, we the majority voters can then unify and pass immigration reform. It is good for the nation.
Quote from a Star Trek movie(Spock). “The needs of the many supersedes the needs of the few”.
We have just got to the point of ‘ NO RESPECT” for our Country, community and city codes. The Mexican Consul Alejandra Garcia Williams was protesting with Solorio at the Plaza de las Banderas, last Saturday.
Please drive on North Broadway were the Mexican Consulate is located, for your information, they are doing business of Photos and Copies, posting big banner , not paying the 8.75% california taxes and what about a business license from the city of Santa Ana.
Land of Oportunity, yes…….the Mexican way.
Lest boycott” NO MORE MEXICAN CONSULATE IN SANTA ANA.”
Art Lomeli, Some of your statements have some merit, but if Mexico politicos had taken care of their constituents, they wouldn’t be coming here. Why don’t we have this problem with Canada? I think the answer is corrupt Mexican government.
See Forbes article 2009: http://www.forbes.com/2009/10/05/mexico-city-class-drug-war-opinions-columnists-joel-kotkin.htmlf
The real flaw in the logic here is that some folks believe that the violence and illegal activity is due to undocumented workers. In reality, violent crime is down in Arizona but the media and the hard-liners in AZ make sure that if an undocumented worker is involved, it’s big news, but the facts are that violent crime has slowed in the last few years in AZ. The law passed isn’t going to stop the real problem which are drug runners and smugglers, It isn’t even going to slow them down.
There was a great article in the LA Times featuring an interview with an ex-Phoenix cop who had to deal with these issues. (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/immigration/la-me-0502-lopezcolumn-20100502%2C0%2C2732982.column)
And he said it very plainly after a white cop was killed: “I told people that it’s not whites or Hispanics who killed Marc,” he said back then. “It’s drug-dealing cop killers. The issue isn’t ethnicity — it’s crime and drugs.”
And this is the real problem with this law is that it doesn’t address the real issue, at all.
I’m all for fairness and equality. We should adopt the exact same immigration policy as Mexico! It’s called Mexico’s General Law on Population; look it up. It includes such charming provisions as Article 67, which reads in part: “Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal … are required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the country, before attending to any issues.” Additionally, those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care, among other requirements. As a foreigner visiting Mexico, you are required at all times to have on your person proof that you are present in Mexico legally either under visa, residence permit or citizenship.
There’s other fun stuff in there explaining exactly how the government of Mexico feels about immigration to their country. You’ll find it a fascinating read!
Yeah, and the LA times, is so FAIR and BALANCED-NOT!
The real flaw in the logic here is that some folks believe that the violence and illegal activity is due to undocumented workers.
MQ says:
Really what logic are you looking at??
People smuggling is very much part of the violence.. drugs, people .. Which one do you want to pick??
I need wonder woman’s rope again!
Hey you , get a clue!
sparky it only matters if a white man implements immigration… Stupid is in it!
Mexico, it one of the most racist countries on the planet… with one of the most elitist and racist people on the planet…
A decent of the spanish who still have that elitist upper crust head that was cut off in spain!
I am not racist, But i am anti-elitist and anti-brat!
fed-up,
you said:
“Art Lomeli, Some of your statements have some merit, but if Mexico politicos had taken care of their constituents, they wouldn’t be coming here. Why don’t we have this problem with Canada? I think the answer is corrupt Mexican government.
See Forbes article 2009: http://www.forbes.com/2009/10/05/mexico-city-class-drug-war-opinions-columnists-joel-kotkin.htmlf”
Yes corrupt politicos in Mexico are a factor in Mexico’s economic down fall. It is not THE reason. There are corrupt politicos in every country including the USA.
Corrupt Senators and Congress members facilitated corrupt corporate CEO’s to nearly bankrupt the USA as corrupt Mexican politicos facilitate corrupt corporate USA CEO’s and corrupt USA politicos to destroy industries in Mexico that were responsible for the formation and maintenance of Mexico’s middle class. This occurs for their mutual economic benefit.
Corrupt CEO’s and Corrupt USA politicos will destroy our middle class soon if we let them, which will transfor us eventualy into a third world country….no better than Mexico.
We should fix our corrupt issues before we point fingers, for the sake of our future.
Corrupt USA politicos have engineered a debt to China that exceeds our national product. In effect China owns the USA.
You have a simplistic explanation of the problem. You cite Forbes as a reference. You understand that Forbes is a publication for corporate America. Hardly a source to objectively state corporate America’s involvement in the economic destruction of Mexico.
You also seem to be part of those that ignore the USA’s part in the immigration problem as others in this thread continue to do for Economic, racist and political manipulation.
We do have illegal immigrants from Canada. They look like you I suspect, so they do not offend you.
If all illegal immigrants looked European had your culture and spoke English you and others probably would be concerned with other issues.
I for one am really looking forward to watching how this is all going to work out, for decades I hear people complain about illegal immigrants taking their jobs and their children‘s future.
I really want to see all the illegal immigrants gone from the whole state and see how it works out, I believe this is a really smart way the government is testing a theory, is it true that illegal immigrants are ruining the country?
Will this get rid of the bad apple?
There should be a job for every single person in Arizona and their unemployment should be at 0.00% by the time all illegal immigrants are gone, drug addiction should drop down big time also, no more drive by shootings, no need for welfare or unemployment checks, big savings for the state and no more drug smuggling really this should really solve all problems in the state.
I really want to see if the beautiful state of Arizona is going to pull this off and become one act to follow or it is going to bust big time, are the people of Arizona are prepared to clean their own toilets and pick their own vegetables straight from the soil where is grown>?, are all those Arizonans just waiting to get off welfare or unemployment get off their buts and start doing the jobs all the illegal immigrants are doing right now? WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE, I am waiting and really hope for the best…….and BTW there are a lot of illegal immigrants that are not Latinos and not all Latinos are crazy trouble makers
First off they did not amend the law to just appease protesters, it was to make sure it was protected from any bleeding heart court!!! And gee the “May Day Demonstrations” the numbers were quite low if the reports were accurate!! Look at the polls! The majority of American Citizens support this bill and some hope their state considers something similar. Clearly other states are overrun with illegals also and are fed up with the abuse of their tax dollars, the crime and blatant disrespect for our laws and country! Can you see another country react so softly to illegal immigrants walking around with their own country’s flag protesting the laws of the country they invaded? This is a country with laws just like every country, follow the laws or go to jail and be deported. It’s a shame the repercussions of the illegal’s actions are causing a problem with their children and families but what did they expect by breaking our laws, a fee pass? Why do some people feel they deserve a free pass, they are not above the law and citizens sure don’t get free pass when they have broken the laws!! And what about all the people who have gone thru the process the legal way, their efforts show they truly want to be here by respecting our laws and deserve to be here. The ones who ignore our laws should be thrown out for breaking our laws PERIOD! THE LAW IS THE LAW!! This law is not about race it’s about people breaking the law, bankrupting states and not respecting this country. It can not be compared to the MLK boycott they have nothing to do with each other. I’m sure as the law is implemented many other nationalities will also be caught here w/out proper paperwork and sent home. If the Federal government wasn’t wasting time figuring out how to control of its citizens, bailing out big money who failed in their greed and they were doing the job they should be doing we would not have this nation wide problem. . If any boycott should be done it should be towards the Federal Government who refuses to create reform on immigration. Arizona is only trying to protect its citizens by legally enforcing the Federal laws in place which in fact are neglected by the Feds. If they were protecting our borders like they are suppose to be doing we wouldn’t have to wonder who’s coming across the border to harm us. If you feel you must protest AZ because the state government finally got fed up with the Feds ignoring the problem than so be it! If you’re so supportive of these illegals than invite them to your state, support them and bankrupt your own state, they already did ours. And how bout the millions of dollars the Feds owe AZ for doing their job? Ya want to help out on that too? Come on if you want to support them then stand up to the plate and support them pay their past due bills!!! Get real people the majority of the people who are against this bill are illegals and their families who probably have either illegal parents or grand parents…Anchor Babies, friends of the illegals and special interest groups whom we all know the damage special interest groups can do when they get on a band wagon. Wasn’t it special interest groups that took God out of so much of this country; Way to go!! Don’t let loud misinformed groups influence your decision read up on how many pregnant women cross the border just to have their babies here on US soil and of course let the people of the state or the hospitals foot the bill!! Check out how many hospitals that have gone under due to the large debt from the illegals. Now the citizens have less medical help! Look at the big picture not just what you hear, do the research and than see if you feel it’s right as a individual citizen of the US to protest against our law & state!! PLEASE Get Educated on the situation before you make a decision on what’s truly right! Don’t just follow the bleeding hearts who know nothing about the situation in Arizona nor the true details of the law which DOES NOT ALLOW RACIAL PROFILING. Read the law don’t just assume what you hear is true. The past has proven too many times what the news reports is not the whole story!! Don’t follow the crowd off the cliff. God Bless Arizona and the US.
AZBrat,
You are passionate about your belief. Never mind it is based on ignorance.
“If any boycott should be done it should be towards the Federal Government who refuses to create reform on immigration”
If you truly believe this why not pursue this and not spin your wheels with a unconstitutional law.
You also seem to be part of those that ignore the USA’s part in the immigration problem as others in this thread continue to do for Economic, racist and political manipulation.
You hear about this Doc?
http://azstarnet.com/news/local/border/article_35ef6e3a-5632-5e58-abe7-e7697ee2f0d5.html
That murdered rancher, Mr. Krentz, the big impetus for this whole Arizona bill – “They’re murdering US now!” Law enforcement is now saying the main suspect is “a person in the United States, not in Mexico.” They cite “a desire to quell the fury over illegal immigration and drug smuggling.” Not quite enough for me to base a whole story on yet, but I’m keeping my eyes on this and waiting till we know more.
The mind goes back to: Gulf of Tonkin; Reichstag Fire; Remember the Maine – all phony incidents to start a war that people wanted.
Vern,
If true that drug smugglers are responsible the correct response would be to publicly address the war on drugs at the consumer side.
Legalize or abstain will cure the drug violence. Too simple ha? The issue as you see is complicated with group agendas.
To Art Lomeli: You really made some wild assumptions about my culture and heritage. Neither of which I was writing to you about.
First of all, the article in Forbes was about a Mexican citizen who runs a school in Mexico. I thought the article was a first hand perspective. Perhaps you didn’t bother to read it because it was in “Forbes”.
Second, my reference to Canada was not a reference to race or culture, it was in reference to their economic status.
You are very racist in your comments, and this is not at all about race. I think if the Latinos that are here, legally or illegally, would stop focusing on race, together we could get alot more done.
The problem is that those that blame Mexico exclussively for the illegal immigartion problem perpetuate the perception, if I can call it so, of it beign a race issue.
You completely ignored all of this, very consistant for someone with an agenda:
The USA:
I read the article it is why I posted my statement. It was a superficial discription of a family in economic distress without depth into the reasons for it other than Mexican political corrption.
Your statement about Canada is that their government takes care of their residents therefore no need for them to come illegaly to the USA. That assumption is wrong as I pointed out. There are illegal Canadians. So my assumptions about you are from my perception coming from your statement. Both countries produce illegal immigrants but your concern is only Mexican.
Many would consider your statement racist and would like for those like you to stop focusing on Latonos. Latinos are ready to work together on Immigration Reform when you all are ready.
Imagine that even one-third of the anger and vitriol currently being hurled at President Obama, by folks who are almost exclusively white, were being aimed, instead, at a white president, by people of color. How many whites viewing the anger, the hatred, the contempt for that white president would then wax eloquent about free speech, and the glories of democracy? And how many would be calling for further crackdowns on thuggish behavior, and investigations into the radical agendas of those same people of color?
To ask any of these questions is to answer them. Protest is only seen as fundamentally American when those who have long had the luxury of seeing themselves as prototypically American engage in it. When the dangerous and dark “other” does so, however, it isn’t viewed as normal or natural, let alone patriotic. Which is why Rush Limbaugh could say, this past week, that the Tea Parties are the first time since the Civil War that ordinary, common Americans stood up for their rights: a statement that erases the normalcy and “American-ness” of blacks in the civil rights struggle, not to mention women in the fight for suffrage and equality, working people in the fight for better working conditions, and LGBT folks as they struggle to be treated as full and equal human beings.
And this, my friends, is what white privilege is all about. The ability to threaten others, to engage in violent and incendiary rhetoric without consequence, to be viewed as patriotic and normal no matter what you do, and never to be feared and despised as people of color would be, if they tried to get away with half the shit we do, on a daily basis.
Boycott Mexico!!! Yes I will! What part of illegal do they not understand Oh wait THEY CANT READ ENGLISH!!!
We cancelled our trip to Disneyland and are going to AZ in October. Trying to plan another trip there and spend more in AZ!!! Keep strong Patriots!!!
I also canceled my trip to Ireland and instead I am going to Arizona.
Come join me!
“Imagine that even one-third of the anger and vitriol currently being hurled at President Obama, … were being aimed, instead, at a white president, …”
Not hard to imagine – goggle: George W Bush liberal hate
You will find thousands of examples of liberal hate of a white President by folks of all colors.
I can tell you this Joe Arpaio will do everything to make sure your trip is a good one in Arizona.
It is amazing to me that the ones that have suffered the most due to the rapid influx of illegals in to CA are the ones complaining the loudest about Arizonas new law. Maybe it’s because they are afraid of the backlash they will experience if they agree with our immigration law, or is it because they need someone to do their work while they are at the beach tanning. In Arizona we think America belongs to Americans, while CA will not let their people have guns to defend themselves. Arizona sees the writing on the wall. Now that may sound a little radical, but I think that is what it takes today to protect your family from, as you can see, the illegals promising to take over state by state and CA is half way there. As for Mexico they have no laws, unless you are an American then the wrath of their old indian gods will come down on you and the old ways show in their temper. Try to cross the border without your proper papers, after they take your money they will take you to jail. If you are lucky they will take you to the border, if they don’t you will need to call home for more money. What do you think would happen if the US would do the same to a illegal Mexican, you would be facing an uprising by the latinos in this country. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Boycott Drugs!
I agree with Art. I don’t want to boycott Arizona or Mexico, I’d like us all to boycott drugs from the Mexican drug cartels.
Living in AZ, born & raised in CA.
Boycott drugs and the Pope!
Actually, now that I think about it a little more, it all comes down to the Pope. If the Catholic Church didn’t preach non-birth control, Mexico wouldn’t be overpopulated and their country would be able to sustain them, and they wouldnt be tryintg to get to our county so badly. So….fight global overpopulation and boycott drugs and the Pope!
Epilogue—-
We just returned from a 1-week vacation to Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott, Williams, and the Grand Canyon to support (monetarily and otherwise) the soverign state of Arizona in its attempt to protect its borders from illegal aliens.
Everywhere we went we let the people know we were there to support the state of Arizona. VIVA SB 1070. Enough is enough!!!
