In the wake of the devastation unleashed by offshore BP rigs on the Gulf Coast, congressional candidate Bill Hedrick – who has always opposed offshore drilling – just wants to remind San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano voters that their incumbent Congressman Ken Calvert has always been an enthusiastic Drill-baby-Driller.
In fact Calvert loudly bitched about Obama’s recent offshore-drilling proposals that they did not go far enough, and neglected his South-County beaches. In a March 31 statement accompanying his own “MORE Act,” which would allow drilling up to the beach, Calvert sputtered:
While (Obama’s) plan opens up areas along the east coast and northern Alaska, it does not call for any exploration off the coast of California where ample oil and natural gas resources exist for development!
Hedrick, in contrast:
Coastal Californians, indeed, I believe all Californians, value our state’s singular natural beauty. I will fight to preserve our coast and beaches, and I will NEVER support expansion of offshore drilling in California’s waters.
Look out your windows, South County voters, and make a decision!
Don Quixote.
Really, NLFTP. I don’t believe Don Quixote came within less than 2% of defeating the windmills last time.
LOL.
Thanks for your support of not drilling in our coast. And I am sure the people who swim and fish in our waters feel the same. Let’s support better ways of creating energy (such as electric cars) but more importantly, by encouaging local jobs through local products, more safe bike lanes, growing vegetables in our yards, and communicating through conference calls, etc.
