Shawn Nelson won the Orange County GOP Central Committee endorsement over Harry Sidhu by 47-8 votes last night at the Irvine Hyatt. That’s 85% for Nelson if you like numbers.
The room was designed to fit 200 people, and was standing room only. Besides Sidhu, who voted for himself (Sidhu got sworn in as an alternative to the OCGOP just prior to the vote), Matt Holder of (John) Lewis Consulting Services and Thomas Gordon went down in flames voting for their own interests instead of the better candidate. knowing that his client was going to lose Holder tried to forestall a vote, avoid a vote, but it was not to be.

That must be some good chicken that part-time resident Tommy Boy Gordon is getting from Harish.
I’m a GOP youth/newbie/tea party member (and student at Canyon High School…Go Comanches!) this Central committee meeting was sooooo interesting. I attended one meaning a few years ago with my Grandma and things have really changed! The last time I was there a few years back, it seemed like the executive committee had so much power and influence and they really liked to flex their political muscles. The lobbyists and the consultants ran the show and the ordinary garden variety central committee members really seemed impotent. The meeting I had attended back then was when the whole executive committee were BIG time supporters of convicted felon and former O.C. Sheriff Corona. They sure did love that guy! Boy oh boy have things changed since the Tea Party Movement has changed the GOP landscape! I saw that one guy you talk about in your post, that Matt Holder guy. I think he had smoke coming out of his ears because he couldn’t stop the candidate for Recorder from getting the endorsement (Grandma says this guy Holder is supporting a DEMOCRAT for recorder named Daly I think.) Grandma says she hates it when Republicans like that …(she calls em RINOS)…try to get Democrats elected for office when they are on the Republican Central Committee. It was kind of funny to see those Executive Board members stand up on losing vote after losing vote. They looked kind of sad to me. I think they must know that they are losing their grip on the GOP power and the people are starting to take back control of the party. I have some friends who are involved with the CRA and those guys are the ones I trust when it comes to endorsements. Well, I have to get to my next class but I wanted to write this during my break. Thank you also to Mrs. Pauly for helping our youth have our voices heard. My cousin is on some kind of youth board and Mrs. Pauly is in charge. I just might have to sign up for that board too. If grandma doesn’t mind driving me to more meetings! Remember you older Republicans, we are tomorrow’s leaders!
P.S. There was a man in the back of the room taking video of the meeting. Any chance you could post a highlights reel?
