Corrupt and racist Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio showed up in Newport Beach today to promote his pal Bill Hunt – and Naui and the protesters were waiting!
It is great seeing our friends stand up to this dirty cop. Kudos to all of them – look in particular for Sharon Tipton in the video above. She is fearless! She keeps telling Arpaio that he is inciting fear. Priceless!
Go back to Arizona you scumbag! Vote for anyone but Hunt!
Yes, Zorro is gay. Zorro is gay in San Francisco, black in South Africa, an Asian in Europe, a Chicano in San Ysidro, an anarchist in Spain, a Palestinian in Israel, a Mayan Indian in the streets of San Cristobal, a Jew in Germany, a Gypsy in Poland, a Mohawk in Quebec, a pacifist in Bosnia, a single woman on the Metro at 10pm, a peasant without land, a gang member in Santa Ana, an unemployed worker, an unhappy student and, of course, a good government advocate in Anaheim.
Zorro is all the exploited, marginalized, oppressed minorities resisting and saying `Enough'. He or she is every minority who is now beginning to speak and every majority that must shut up and listen. He or she is every untolerated group searching for a way to speak. Everything that makes power and the good consciences of those in power uncomfortable -- this is Zorro.
I think you just made Bill Hunts next campaign video. All I see is a guy being protested, calmly walking over, talking and answering questions, while the lady is talking with him, all I can Hear is F@ck the White man! You Piece of Sh!t, and so on being shouted by the protesters…. Stay Classy La Raza!
What this video does NOT show is that the group of protesters, waving Mexican flags and signs, then moved from the public sidewalk along MacArthur and instead trespassed on the private property where Mr. Arpaio was attending the event. They not only refused to leave after multiple requests, but blocked the entryway, repeatedly calling everyone in sight a “f—ing Nazi.” This included people who had nothing to do with whatever event Arpaio was attending but simply those who were using the gym and office facilities there. The “f—ing Nazi” epithets were particularly amusing when leveled at an Orthodox Rabbi who was at the premises! The police had to be called, and of course, as they arrived, the protesters scurried back to the public lawn area to avoid arrest.
Protesting is a constitutional right, but trespassing on private property is not. Whatever you may think of Mr. Arpaio, this group was nothing more than a bunch of vulgar thugs who need to realize that if they want respect for the constitutional and human rights they claim Mr. Arpaio is violating, they need to protest responsibly, stop with the F word and the “Nazi” nonsense, and RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY.
im surprised the insults werent in spanish . they spoke english . a big sweep was needed they could of picked UP a bunch most likely . also horray for arizona too with the new lAW . WATCH THE ILLEGALS RUN LIKE COCKROACHES FROM THERE .
I just heard that the lady wearing the costume tried to rip a Hunt sign from an older gentleman’s hands causing him to fall to the ground. These thugs are something else.
Well well, Zorro the Viet hater, I guess you’re not winning any support from your White brothers on this blog. Quick, you better get phony Sean Mill to come out and pretend to be hurt and offended by somebody, somewhere, somehow. He’s good at playing the victim.
What i saw from watching this video – The people protesting against Sheriff Arpaio where bigots, and thugs… while the sheriff was trying to answer the questions they kept throwing ridiculous slurs at him…
Not the quality of people you want in any country!
As for the guy flying the Mexican flag – You wonder why the American people are not too welcoming to a bunch of complete idiots who would fly a Mexican Nationalist flag, and at the same time want amnesty??
Stupid, Stupid !
If you love Mexico so much, “go Back”, though i advise you to carry a M60 or bigger.
You cannot bully you’re way to a better life – earn it!
a law enforcement officer, legally residing in this country is told to go back home by “the race”? Absolutely ridiculous. I am no great fan of Republicans and like a lot of what Democrats stand for but the Democrats agenda of getting illegals in here, making them legal, and thus allowing them to vote to bring in more of their kind is very scary and a threat to our nation. I have watched these la raza thugs since 1994 and I have definitely woke up and smelled the beans and I must say I prefer apple pie and the peace we used to know before we were invaded and colonized in many areas. Deport the illegals.
Re: “Democrats stand for but the Democrats agenda of getting illegals in here…”
What a load of nonsense. George Bush and the Republicans didn’t close the border when they were in office.
Both parties take money from two types of corprations
1) Corporations that want exploitable workers, such as agribuisness
2) The for-profit immigration detention system that gets federal dollars for every person they detain. CCA is a big employer in Arizona. They rarely deport immigrants anymore–they detain them.
That’s what SB 1070 is–a payoff to the for-profit detention industry. Now they can detain anybody for any reason, US citizen or not. More profits for them. Police state for us.
Our government could end this problem by closing the border and fining employers who hire undocumented workers. Instead, they would rather let us slide into fascism so that corprations can keep their profits. That’s how fascism started in Europe–with paper checks.
I am against putting any kind of preventative measures on the border. I have come to realize that will only let Leftists drive hispanics away from their conservative cultural interests and into the hands of Democrats. $50,000 fine and five years in jail for employers and management for every illegal on the payroll. Anywhere. Let them argue the racism of that. Dry up the jobs. This economy has shown the effectiveness of that.
#15 – Maybe, maybe, on the strengths of this video, BUT wait till you see the new videos of our own Francisco debating the minutemen at the Arpaio event today. The IQ balance in this debate has taken a quantum leap.
Vern, the problem is, there is no “debate” I went there and spoke to some of the protesters, and all I got in the end was a buch of screaming of “F—ing Nazi, Racist and Hater” etc…. While it would be nice to get a true “Debate” Or “discussion” going on the subject, it always breaks down into yelling swearing and name calling. Why don’t you and I write a joint piece on resolving the immigration issue, from both sides? I know I have not written for the juice in a long while, but it could work out. I think you will be shocked by how much common ground there is when people talk to each other rather than deamonize those who we disagree with. I would off this to Art, but has refuses to distinguish between “Legal” and “Illegal”….. well what do you think?
I watched this video – it’s the only coverage I’ve seen of Arpaio’s visit because I’ve been out of town – and was impressed with his calm demeanor and his apparent willingness to simply walk over to an obviously hostile crowd chanting epithets at him, and attempt to engage in conversation. I couldn’t hear his discussion because of the venomous, foul chants being directed at him. Those tactics seem ill-advised… the chanters were the losers in this encounter from my viewpoint. I understand the emotion and passion of the issues, but this kind of demonstration won’t win any new friends. It will only drive them away, probably along with some old ones, too.
Art, I didn’t “judge” them, I just observed their behavior on this little film clip. I acknowledged that there are reasons for such passions, didn’t I? I think they missed a terrific opportunity here to calmly engage Arpaio in a discussion of their grievances – he looked willing enough. Even though he had, what, a half-dozen cameras being jammed in his face and epithets being hurled at him from several directions he still waded into the situation and tried to have a conversation with that articulate young woman dressed as Lady Liberty. Couldn’t hear it, though, because of all the screamers behind the camera.
For you to compare Arpaio to Nazis is lame and disappointing. Perhaps if we’d had a chance to hear what he had to say we might gather enough information from his own mouth to support or refute your characterization.
It’s going to be very interesting to see how Sheriff Joe applies the new Arizona law, if it actually gets that far. I was in Arizona the weekend the rancher along the border was killed by a person who scampered across the border to escape. I can tell you from first-hand observation in the midst of some very angry folks that I’m not at all surprised that the law was passed. This is going to be a very interesting summer…
Patience, Potstirrer and Bigmarkod… Francisco Barragan and I were at the Saturday morning event – we got inside – and we’re both preparing very thoughtful reports on it.
BigMark that sounds like a good idea, but I think your ideal collaborator would maybe be Francisco, who’s become an encyclopedia of facts on the issue.
You used to be a blogger here? When? What was your name?
Art, once again – I saw the clip, I heard the epithets and I couldn’t hear Arpaio because of them. I didn’t “malign them”, I described them – big difference. I resent your assumption that I don’t understand where they’re coming from, my friend. Don’t assume that, just because I’m a gray-haired Anglo, I don’t understand. I grew up in a predominantly Latino community in LA and live in Costa Mesa – the tip of the lance of immigrant rights battles for the past half-decade. You’ve read my work – you know where I’ve stood on this issue against Mansoor and his cronies down here. It’s not necessary for me to have walked through the burning sands across the border to understand the plight of immigrants. I resent your attempt to marginalize my views simply because I expressed an opinion that Arpaio should have been heard – a HUGE missed opportunity. The kind of demonstrations exhibited on the film clip don’t work, as witnessed by Benito Acosta’s recent loss in court. They are no more effective than the foul-mouthed Minutemen demonstrations Naui and others have captured on film over the past couple years.
Art, this battle you’re fighting isn’t going to be won unless you convince eligible Latinos to register and vote – which they do not presently do in sufficient numbers. Until then, it’s us old, white guys who DO vote that must be convinced. Sorry, buddy, but that’s the way it is. The “amnesty” issue is going to be polarizing as we head for the primary and into the fall. The tone and language on the video simply will not serve your cause well with people who actually vote in this country.
“Arpaio is a racist, corrupt pig, that much is clear. i wish he would stay the hell out of my county.”
By the way- this is a America Art, not Mexico – people are free to go where they want in this country. A few hispanic thugs from south of the border is not going to stop any of us speaking up and speaking out around this country..
If you don’t like that Art, i suggest you would be more comfortable in a Nacro state that is Mexico!
This is why hispanic’s from south of the border are not too popular not only with American’s but also Cuban’s!
1) I was inside the event the whole time together with Vern Nelson (whom I met for the first time), where Sheriff Arpaio and Bill Hunt spoke.
Did you READ the independent report on Sheriff Arpaio’s activities by the Goldwater Institute?
See at least the one page summary – “Mission Unaccomplished”…his activities have resulted in a crime increase of 70%, making Maricopa citizens LESS Safe, and his budget quadrupled to about $270 million, making his function LESS Effective and LESS efficient;
Please, tell me how pursuing failed Law Enforcement policies makes him a good sheriff???
2) I think you are taking part of Art’s comment and making implying something else that it is not:
Art said, “i wish he would stay the hell out of my county.”
Michelle you said, “By the way- this is a America Art, not Mexico – people are free to go where they want in this country. A few hispanic thugs from south of the border is not going to stop any of us speaking up and speaking out around this country…”
My response:
a) Art expressed a “WISH”…he did NOT say he was going to STOP him from traveling freely.
b) Then you follow-up with an extrapolation, which is really a mischaracterization…I know you mention “a few” but you imply that those that are opposed are hispanic thugs…yesterday I met several white non-hispanics that were opposed to Sheriff Arpaio’s failed policies…
So not everyone who is opposed is hispanic, and not everyone is a thug…but I know, I can just see your reply…”yeah well, they are probably a not-for-profit scam that want to benefit at the expense of the taxpayer to serve the under-served and the under-privileged.”…sounds more like a “broken record”.
With respect to Lt. Bill Hunt, what about him besides that he is being mentored by Sheriff Arpaio, who runs a very ineffective and inefficient sheriff’s dept as demonstrated by the independent report and who has negatively impacted law enforcement in his own county; and who actively sought the endorsement of Barbara Coe, a person identified by Mr Jim Gilchrist and by the SPLC as a white racial supremacist; and which might cast a question on Lt. Hunt’s judgment and ability to pursue proper law enforcement policies and apply them equally, what besides that do you admire???
P.S. I talked to Lt. Hunt yesterday, and asked him some questions (I was not satisfied with his answers because his answers were in my opinion not full solutions and I expressed that to him – even though he was presenting them as such), but I will prepare a series of written questions and want to give him an opportunity to respond to them in WRITING (UNEDITED)…and then we can post them here.
I also, agree although I can understand the “anger” which I saw from both sides, I think this drowns out the message…but It was very telling the “anger” that I saw from the supporters of Mr. Arpaio and Mr. Hunt without real substance to their statements, which I will write about.
Francisco “Paco” Barragan (My opinions only and not those of any group)
Art, the numbers only count when 1) folks let themselves be counted in the census and, 2) when they actually register to vote AND vote – neither of which are happening in sufficient numbers. Unless you’re planning some kind of coup, getting “your” folks to vote is the only way to go. And how many will be encouraged to become involved in the process when they see their self-anointed “leaders” screaming epithets at elected officials?
I acknowledge that you have the numbers and passion, it’s the tactics I find abhorrent.
Yeah, Vern I wrote, mostly here for about a year. I did mostly Liberty, and 2A Stuff, with hunting and outddors thrown in….. Quit a little while ago (6 months) I still post from time to time, but it always gets so negative… just wasn’t that much fun (Plus the new format, screwed me up) I was at the Arpiao thing on Sat, and Brought my own camera and went down to the street to chat and talk, as if I had no clue…. funny thing was we were having a nice chat / debate until they figured out I was there to see Hunt, at that point all discussion stopped and the crazy lady went back to the playbook of SCREAMING THAT i AM A NAZI, HATER, SKINHEAD, ETC….
Funny thing was, on my way out,I saw the same guy and he asked why I didn’t tell him who I was, and I had to explain, I wanted a discussion not a shouting match… well I was then sworn at,(not by him, but the group) and assaulted and told “we are going to get you you white MotherF**cer” or something to that extent…. Stay Classy La Raza!!!
The worst part was, I had my own camera to record it, and like an idiot my bettery had about a 15 second charge on it, so I was very disappointed when I got home.
Bigmark, you were there too? We must have seen each other. I’ll be posting my story of that along with some cell-phone video of Francisco talking to some Hunt supporters. Sadly it’s a little hard to hear him over all the yelling, which is a shame.
A lot of the protesters are old friends of mine, and I agree with 90% of their goals, but I wish they would tone down the yelling and the exaggerated rhetoric. 1) Even if they find it cathartic, it’s unproductive and doesn’t convince anybody who wasn’t already enthusiastically on their side. 2) Some people really do want to have a conversation and find common ground. 3) Even if those people refuse to have their minds changed or are being disingenuous, it’s always good to catch them in contradictions or embarrassing racist outbursts. Other people will hear them, and maybe they’ll think a little more later themselves.
I wouldn’t automatically accuse everyone who goes into a Hunt event of being a racist. I don’t even have the impression that Hunt is a racist himself (I think as Duane wrote the other day he’s “not the sharpest tool in the shed,” and I think he is the candidate for racists.) Me and Francisco even got yelled at coming out of the event until the protesters recognized us and realized we were on their side. I think… well, I’m preparing my report.
“Please, tell me how pursuing failed Law Enforcement policies makes him a good sheriff?”??
MQ says:
You’re question is an easy one to answer- If his polices are so bad – why then do so many AZ citizens approve of this sheriff? The answer is.. So many of the people’s repres, public servants are letting them down by polices that directly go against not only the WILL of the people, but also the INTERESTS of the people. The people (American Citizens) feel this sheriff has become the people’s sheriff.. thumbing his nose at the corrupt political system that fails to protect the citizens. I am seeing the corruption here in Orange County – SO many Non-profits making a big profit of illegal immigrants with federal and state money.. STEPPING UP -would not be needed in Orange County if not for illegal immigrants.. You’re Non-profit Mr. F cost’s the taxpayers a lot of money.. The only explanation for American Citizens putting the interest of Non-Citizens over their own is MONEY!
Non-profits, school districts, corps, small business owners, doctors, lawyers.. So many who would sell out their own for MONEY!
“Art said, “i wish he would stay the hell out of my county.”
MQ says:
The reason why he would WISH it – because he can’t actually do it! Unless he think’s he can get a few gang members together to physically remove the sheriff.. That is why he is wishing it.. If only this was Mexico!
“So not everyone who is opposed is hispanic, and not everyone is a thug…but I know, I can just see your reply…”yeah well, they are probably a not-for-profit scam that want to benefit at the expense of the taxpayer to serve the under-served and the under-privileged.”…sounds more like a “broken record”.
MQ says:
I watched the video tapes – Calling out you “Fucking Racist”, over and over again is in my eyes thugs.. They Sheriff tried to engaged the thugs in a conversation – but how can you, when you’re engaged with that ridiculous behavior.. I only call it as I see it!
As far as – Do I think most of the Non-profits are scams that use illegal immigrants as customers to get to federal/state and local money – YOU BET!
Am I a broken record for bringing this up in a lot of my post’s??. Maybe- but the constant exposure might bring about a change to eliminate this type of corruption!
As far as you interviewing Mr. Hunt – I just hope he tell’s the truth. I hope he is unafraid of making it clear that he will try to do as good of a job as Joe Arpaio has done.. The reason so many Illegal Immigrant advocates hate Joe Arpaio – he is not afraid to confront them for what they are – Racist’s, ethnocentric wack jobs, over all con artists who make a living off illegal immigration.
“I also, agree although I can understand the “anger” which I saw from both sides, ”
MQ says:
I fail to see why illegal immigrants and illegal immigrant activists would be angry at a Nation that want’s to protect and unburden it’s citizens from an influx of another’s nations poor, unskilled and highly needy population.
I can absolutely understand why Americans would be angry- dead ranchers, and dead husbands and son’s who were murdered by another nation’s criminals would piss any one off.
Closed schools, packed ER’s, lack of assistance at the local social services is kind of a pain in the ass.
Mr. F.. I can not judge you because I do not know enough about you.. But as i read between the lines of you’re posts, I get the feeling most likely you’re children are in private schools, you have no need to get assistance at social service’s and that you live in a well to do area…Because quite frankly you have seem to have either no clue why Americans are angry right now or could not care less!
I think you need to take a good look into the decay of you’re public schools, and the massive burden on taxpayers due to illegal immigrants using and abusing every social service that there is…
As far as people being Racist for not wanting to be burdened by illegal immigrants from south of the border – Then maybe the illegal immigrants and their many advocates might be more comfortable in Mexico – though if you are not Mexican you might want to be careful.. Its a felony to be in Mexico illegally!
I really think that people from Mexico have lost the American people’s trust and respect.. I do not blame them!
Its quite sad really – I think it’s due to bad representation!
“Me and Francisco even got yelled at coming out of the event until the protesters recognized us and realized we were on their side. I think… well, I’m preparing my report.”
MQ says:
Aren’t you luck they recognized you, if they had not you would have been branded a racist by a bunch of racists!
Hilarious…
I myself would have loved to engaged them in conversation and ask them the question, ” So is this you’re Land??”.” If it is can i buy it off you and will you then leave??”.
If Mexico is a narco state it is because Americans like to take drugs – lots of them. Don’t blame the Mexicans for this, it isn’t their fault.”
MQ says:
American is not to blame for a country who’s people would rather profit from pot, than food!
It’s a corrupt culture that is about to explode into extreme violence and God help the people who are trying to hold on to their country and culture as it once was…
Only the people of Mexico can fix their corrupt society and government.
Closing the borders and legalizing drugs will take care of the drug problem..but it will not fix the social decay in Mexico!.
Michelle Q:
I asked, “Please, tell me how pursuing failed Law Enforcement policies makes him a good sheriff [Joe Arpaio]”?? And I provided you a link to the report that details his failures.
You responded,
“You’re question is an easy one to answer- If his polices are so bad – why then do so many AZ citizens approve of this sheriff?”
My response:
So effectiveness and efficiency is a popularity contest?
I think it has to do more with people being angry (and wanting someone to do something, or give the appearance of doing something); and also of his supporters being ignorant of the facts; or if they are aware of the facts willing to give him a pass and ignore the facts that his policies are negatively affecting law enforcement.
Michelle you state:
“SO many Non-profits making a big profit of illegal immigrants with federal and state money.. STEPPING UP -would not be needed in Orange County if not for illegal immigrants.. You’re Non-profit Mr. F cost’s the taxpayers a lot of money..”
MY RESPONSE:
You like to throw out unsubstantiated allegations; and have yet to answer my questions…see POST #29 at http://orangejuiceblog.com/2010/04/housing-not-for-profit-retains-former-journalist/#more-40780
I also asked you…
d) Tell me how much money “Stepping up” got from the banks to buy properties, and how many were bought?
e) Tell me how many were sold for more?
f) and in particular, tell me how many were sold for more, to the “underserved and the vulnerable”?
You state:
“I fail to see why illegal immigrants and illegal immigrant activists would be angry at a Nation that want’s to protect and unburden it’s citizens from an influx of another’s nations poor, unskilled and highly needy population.:
My response:
a) What you may fail to see is that people want to have a solution that works.
b) Deportation has not worked and will not work (ICE enforcement Costs have gone up 8 times; ICE personnel has been more than tripled; to deport about 340-400,000 out of 12 million)…this is nowhere near a solution.
c) Also, as I mentioned before independent non-partisan studies show that the NET COST to the nation from providing services to illegals are negligible or close to ZERO because these are offset by TAXES withheld from illegal workers; and additionally that there is a NET POSITIVE impact to the US Economy and that there is also a NET POSITIVE impact to American households’ net disposable income because good and services are provided at a lower cost which generally translates to lower prices for American Consumers;
d) Additionally, through comprehensive immigration reform we will also be able to better track and collect taxes withheld by “crooked employers” from the illegal alien workers, but that are NOT being turned in.
e) The concept of “Deport the Freeloaders”, or of fear-mongering, or of inflating numbers, or of inflaming passions, only distracts us from arriving at a true solution.
for example of costs being less:
i) Around 1998 health care costs were less & contributions GREATER:
(e.g.: It is estimated that immigrants will PAY, on average, $80,000 MORE IN TAXES than they will use in government services over their lifetimes (The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration, National Academy Press, 1997).”
ii) Around 2005 – USC study shows immigrants receive lower levels of health care.
iii) Around 2005 – National Resource Council (conference on State Legislatures) data indicate that an average immigrant pays $1,800 in taxes to local, state, and federal government above what he or she “costs” in services or benefits received.
f) Now although there is disparity between some of the numbers, the main point is that the contributions are greater than what is consumed…and that his has been consistent throughout by different studies and sources.
Michelle Q you state:
“Mr.
I think you need to take a good look into the decay of you’re public schools, and the massive burden on taxpayers due to illegal immigrants using and abusing every social service that there is…”
MY RESPONSE:
• My daughter 21, and my stepson 20 always attended public schools.
• I live in Santa Ana…my area is NOT well to do. (I live near Euclid and Hazard in Santa Ana.) You can say I live among the people.
• I don’t receive public assistance (I paid my way through college; paid my ex-wife’s way through college; paid my daughters day-care while I was working and going to school; paid my wife’s way through college –bachelor’s and Masters degree; and am paying my daughter’s and stepson’s way through college.)
• I am also doing this while I have been volunteering and receiving ZERO income for almost 3 years-since May 2007 and burning my own savings while I do this. While I still pay the mortgage, and the health plans for my family.
• And it is because what I see around me that I decided to forego my earnings and burn my savings to help improve my community…that is why I give of my time to these various worthy not-for-profit organizations and why I speak to elementary, high school, and college students.
• Anger and support for failed policies are NOT solutions.
Michelle you state:
“As far as people being Racist for not wanting to be burdened by illegal immigrants from south of the border – Then maybe the illegal immigrants and their many advocates might be more comfortable in Mexico”
MY RESPONSE:
a) It is amazing that you would put up and accept RACISM, and attempt to rationalize this. Again racism or bigotry can act like blinders to the facts…the facts that illegal aliens contribute more in taxes than they take out in services…but perhaps in your case it is not amazing that you put up with Racism.
b) Racism, bigotry, fear-mongering, hate-mongering and demonizing a group to scapegoat them are not American values Michelle (it may have happened and continues to happen – but these are not our American values or principles).
c) About HALF of the illegal immigrants come from other countries…and your focus and animosity is Mexico or Americans of Mexican descent. Racism, Bigotry and Prejudice against a group, any group are based on irrational feelings Michelle, and no amount of rationalization will make this acceptable to us, the majority of Americans.
Francisco “Paco” Barragan (my opinions only and not those of any group)
Hey, I was there, I watched your clip, You get a second of me on the street from the top view. I wa wearing shorts and a red sleeved angels shirt, stand about 6’3″ and 260, buzz cut hair…. looking like I need a shave
First off, let me state that I am white. Secondly, I am saddened by the actions of all those involved with this Arizona law. Crime in Arizona is the main point people in support of this law use. Use google, if you can spell it. A simple check of “violent crime statistics in arizona” will show you that the crime rate has been in DECLINE over the past decade. Secondly, if you are serious about curbing illegal immigration, then do something to help improve the quality of life in Mexico. Any rational person will flee from crime and corruption brought about by severe poverty. If my family were starving, I would do what is necessary to prevent that. So would all of you, because to all of us, the well being of our loved ones is most important. And if you must spew hate at someone, look at those who are preventing you from earning what you deserve in this country. Illegal’s aren’t that group. They struggle for less than 1% of our economy. Look at the other end of the spectrum. The 5% of our population that control 85% of our economy. It’s that 5% of our population who benefit from having has not so privledged white people thinking illegals are the problem. Also, if an illegal is earning a paycheck, they put into social security, and cant get the benefit when they are old enough. So the next time your at a tea party rally with a misspelled “HANDS OFF MY SOCIAL SECURITY” sign, thank an illegal for extending the life of this program.
Those protesters sound real civilized. That’s just the type of conduct anti illegal advocates love to see.
Zoro–
You can’t take the truth!!! You must have had an extra helping of beans.
Arpaio is corrupt and racist…and will surely be indicted for corruption soon in his home county
Nice try, “Zorro”. Your spin of the video backfired. Better pull it down before you’re shown for the fool you are.
“they need to protest responsibly, stop with the F word and the “Nazi” nonsense…”
Where were you when activity like this was evident during Tea Party protests?
Well well, Zorro the Viet hater, I guess you’re not winning any support from your White brothers on this blog. Quick, you better get phony Sean Mill to come out and pretend to be hurt and offended by somebody, somewhere, somehow. He’s good at playing the victim.
Great post Art; oh, I mean “Zorro”
That’s how fascism started in Europe–with paper checks.
http://www.azfamily.com/video/featured-videos/Man-says-he-was-racially-targeted-forced-to-provide-birth-certificate-91769419.html
After about 5 seconds of this video you realize that the combined IQ’s of all the protesters put together does not equal that of Mr. Arpaio.
Good to see the Conservatives are out in force…
#15 – Maybe, maybe, on the strengths of this video, BUT wait till you see the new videos of our own Francisco debating the minutemen at the Arpaio event today. The IQ balance in this debate has taken a quantum leap.
“WATCH THE ILLEGALS RUN LIKE COCKROACHES”
“By their fruit you will recognize them.”
Potstirrer,
I refuse to judge these protesters in such fashion. They have plenty of good reasons to be upset.
Do you think the Jews were kind to their German captors when the U.S. Army freed them? I am guessing not.
Arpaio may not be a Nazi, but he shared their hostility for people of color.
#21: …the Jews were nice to the German captors…” There is no correlation to illegal immigrants. Stay on course.
Potstirrer,
Yes you did. You maligned them for being emotional in their protesting. You clearly don’t understand where they are coming from. I do.
Arpaio is a racist, corrupt pig, that much is clear. i wish he would stay the hell out of my county.
You obviously dislike the Man intensely Art – the sad thing is you hate him for doing the job in was entrusted to do!
70% of AZ approve of what he is trying to do – protect the Citizen of this county..
I am voting for Hunt because I hope he can be half the leader that Mr. Arpaio is!
I think we in this country being made of up many different immigrants have had just enough of the south of the border demanding and bulling…
Even the Cubans agree with me … Not a good reflection on hispanic’s from south of the border!
Potstirrer,
By virtues of numbers we Latinos WILL be the majority in CA soon enough. Be patient.
My four kids will all be future Libertarians – they all know not to trust either the GOP or the blue party.
Michelle,
If Mexico is a narco state it is because Americans like to take drugs – lots of them. Don’t blame the Mexicans for this, it isn’t their fault.
#29: Michelle Q:
1) I was inside the event the whole time together with Vern Nelson (whom I met for the first time), where Sheriff Arpaio and Bill Hunt spoke.
Did you READ the independent report on Sheriff Arpaio’s activities by the Goldwater Institute?
See at least the one page summary – “Mission Unaccomplished”…his activities have resulted in a crime increase of 70%, making Maricopa citizens LESS Safe, and his budget quadrupled to about $270 million, making his function LESS Effective and LESS efficient;
Please, tell me how pursuing failed Law Enforcement policies makes him a good sheriff???
http://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/Common/Img/Mission%20Unaccomplished.pdf
“Michelle,
If Mexico is a narco state it is because Americans like to take drugs – lots of them.
Good night all – Happy Birthday Vern.. Hopefully next year you might become a little wiser with age…
:}
My response:
a) What you may fail to see is that people want to have a solution that works.
b) Deportation has not worked and will not work (ICE enforcement Costs have gone up 8 times; ICE personnel has been more than tripled; to deport about 340-400,000 out of 12 million)…this is nowhere near a solution.
c) Also, as I mentioned before independent non-partisan studies show that the NET COST to the nation from providing services to illegals are negligible or close to ZERO because these are offset by TAXES withheld from illegal workers; and additionally that there is a NET POSITIVE impact to the US Economy and that there is also a NET POSITIVE impact to American households’ net disposable income because good and services are provided at a lower cost which generally translates to lower prices for American Consumers;
d) Additionally, through comprehensive immigration reform we will also be able to better track and collect taxes withheld by “crooked employers” from the illegal alien workers, but that are NOT being turned in.
e) The concept of “Deport the Freeloaders”, or of fear-mongering, or of inflating numbers, or of inflaming passions, only distracts us from arriving at a true solution.
for example of costs being less:
i) Around 1998 health care costs were less & contributions GREATER:
http://www.pnhp.org/immigrants/Immigrant_Fact_Sheet.pdf
(e.g.: It is estimated that immigrants will PAY, on average, $80,000 MORE IN TAXES than they will use in government services over their lifetimes (The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration, National Academy Press, 1997).”
ii) Around 2005 – USC study shows immigrants receive lower levels of health care.
http://www.usc.edu/uscnews/stories/11482.html
iii) Around 2005 – National Resource Council (conference on State Legislatures) data indicate that an average immigrant pays $1,800 in taxes to local, state, and federal government above what he or she “costs” in services or benefits received.
http://www.ncsl.org/IssuesResearch/Immigration/ImmigrantsintheWorkforce/tabid/13120/Default.aspx
f) Now although there is disparity between some of the numbers, the main point is that the contributions are greater than what is consumed…and that his has been consistent throughout by different studies and sources.
Michelle Q you state:
“Mr.
Ok, I have very limited time – I am not going to keep up with why, you did not post this or that!!
If you are going to censor me – I will not waste my time!
I have a couple of post’s that are lost!
I don’t think that is very nice…
It is sad, but true, that it is easier to fight a difference you can see, ie. skincolor, than the true problem you cannot, ie. rampant greed
