Enough Is Enough!

The Arizona State Legislature is to be commended for passing the nation’s strongest immigration enforcement bill. SB 1070, which was signed into law by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer in April of this year.

This law will now allow Arizona’s state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce our nation’s immigration laws.  It’s high time such a law was passed–and enforced!  It is estimated that there are nearly 500,000 individuals in Arizona illegally.  Enough is enough!  The citizens of Arizona have a constitutional right to have their borders secure and their lives and property protected.

President Obama says this law is “misguided”.  But it is rather Obama—and his predecessors (Bush, Clinton, et al)  who are misguided.  If they had done their job and enforced our immigration laws and safeguarded our borders instead of pandering to the likes of La Raza and MALDEF in order to get the Hispanic vote, we would not have a problem of this magnitude.  Instead of committing American troops to places like Iraq and Afghanistan, where we have no business whatsoever, these troops should have been placed on our Southern border.

Whether this law will pass muster in the federal courts remains to be seen.  But just the fact that such a law had to be enacted at the state level is indicative of the growing frustration Americans have with their inept and incompetent elected “leaders” who are unwilling or unable to do their job.
