Vern asked for it. He gets it.
With a lot more credibility than a “stuck pedal” theory that shamed Toyota into apologizing, ACORN has agreed to give up its business license in Ohio. ACORN has admitted that its business practices produced a demonstrable pattern of fraudulent registrations.
Get out and stay out
“Under the settlement ACORN is supposed to end its operations in Ohio by June 1st. They have also agreed not to return to the state to carry out those operations under a different name as they did when prohibited from registering voters in New York and California.”
This is a settlement under the Ohio Corrupt Activities Act. Think the RICO Act, in Ohio, Vern. This is who you profess are so honorable, and forthright, and virtuous. Do gooders to the last, eh Vern? … Pardon me, I just threw up in my mouth a little… ACORN has been accused of voter fraud, vote buying and other crimes in at least twenty states, but has spent most of that time shifting blame to the random employee they hang out to dry.
ACORN was very active Ohio during the last election. So active it received the “Unsung Hero” award from the Communist Party USA. To quote the document:
ACORN was responsible for registering 250,000 of the new voters in the election, which Obama won by a margin of 220,000.
I’m going to count out those 250,000 votes now, Vern. And I WILL be coming back for more.
Hey Vern! You gonna respond to this or are you in jail again?
Terry,
“ACORN was responsible for registering 250,000 of the new voters in the election”
Registering voters does NOT EQUAL fraud, but hey, you’re a wing-nut and things like FACTS and TRUTH are just an annoyance on your way to the greater smear.
UH-OH!
Tough nut to crack: Ohio ACORN settlement much less than reported (or hyped by conservative blogsphere.)

“Scoop” Keeling gets yet another Ohio news story completely wrong.
Remember how the conservative Buckeye Institute claimed that their private RICO lawsuit forced ACORN into a settlement that kicked it out of Ohio and from any voter registration or GOTV efforts altogether in the State?
Yeah, it turns out that just like the overblown allegations of voter fraud, it was completely meritless.
From the Associated Press, we learn that the settlement agreement did not force ACORN to surrender its business license in Ohio at all:
ACORN also has agreed to surrender its Ohio business license and has ceased operations in Ohio “for reasons unrelated” to the lawsuit, the agreement says.
As ACORN stated last week, it had ALREADY ended its operations in Ohio before the settlement agreement due to budgetary concerns.
Oh, and as for not engaging in Ohio in the future? All the settlement agreement requires is that ACORN “refrain in Ohio from supporting or enabling others ‘to engage in the type of unlawful conduct alleged’ in the lawsuit.”
In other words, ACORN is able to come back into the State so long as they or any group they support or enable does not engage in unlawful conduct… which of course, is something they would naturally be obligated to do as an incorporated entity doing business in the State in the first place. There is absolutely nothing in the reported settlement that prevents ACORN for conducting voter registration drives in Ohio. Nothing.
In short, this Associated Press story strongly indicates that this “settlement” was a pure “walk away settlement” and the Plaintiff’s suit actually achieved nothing.
The Buckeye Institute just got caught doing an endzone dance in the wrong endzone.
oh no it ALIVE anoster defending a CORRUPT ORGINAZATION . what else is new . she a left of far left terry so dont even try . some people are unreachable .
In voter registration. The people who hand out the “Affidavits of Registration” or help fill them out, are exempt from prosecution. If you think about it, it is obvious why they are exempt.
Hey Vern! You gonna respond to this or are you in jail again?
Oh look! It’s “Golightly” again. I’d been meaning to grill this useless commenter over his name. At first I just figured, he was one of those tragic closeted gay GOP figures – Go Lightly was obviously a reference to Audrey Hepburn’s character in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, who I’m aware is a gay icon, right up there with Marilyn, Madonna, and Sharon Stone.
But more recently it’s been drawn to my attention that “Go Lightly” is also a very powerful, “industrial strength” laxative. Not making this up. You can trust but verify here: http://www.drugstore.com/templates/stdplist/default.asp?catid=172&aid=336064&aparam=go%20lightly%20laxative&scinit1=go%20lightly%20laxative And, given the excretory nature of most of this gentleman’s scribblings, I’m ASSuming this is a connection we are INTENDED to make.
If this fellow’s point is to make us all want to defecate while spending money on the product he’s tied in with … well, that would run into the correct definition of “shill” which Terry regularly runs AFOUL of. I think he should use a new name though. Something that communicates the true quality of his commentary without advertising his shilling too blatantly. Last I checked, “Ex-Lax RethugliKlan” was still available. Just a suggestion?
(OH PS. Something smells bad. Did Crowley Fart? I better go read this silly post since my name is in it.)
You redeem yourself somewhat with the Varney clips, those are great.
ACORN is obviously a disorganized mess. But you ever again say they have something to do with prostitution, or even “vote fraud,” I’m on you like white on rice. Malicious liar.
I think the real question about this whole ACORN bullshit is why does helping out the poor and disadvantaged piss off the Jesus loving wingers so much? It drives them bloody nuts. Everyone of these ACORN bashing posts says a lot more about the poster than about any failings of the organisation itself.
hey baxter i will give you something that drive you lefties nuts = sarah palin
“…why does helping out the poor and disadvantaged piss off the Jesus loving wingers so much?”
Because, like extremist Muslims, their faith is simply a cover for the pursuit of a political agenda. It’s as simple as that.
#8 grating one,
We can finally agree on something; run Sarah, run. Oh please, oh please, oh please!
no she wont run , but she will drive you nuts because you guys hate her so much . in nov your boy nobama we will stop the pelosi / reid destruction of this country . no house or senate for you .
