We have the best medical care in the world. Most people in this country have health insurance so they can go to the doctor and get procedures when they want them. Those who don’t can go to the emergency room and the specialist on the public dime. Yes, there are reforms that could and should occur. Most actual reforms, tho, are not things that the Obama Administration wants. They mean more competition. More individual choice. More ability for the individual to act and to secure his own health insurance and, more importantly, pay directly for the kind of medical care they want.
Those are facts. Those shaky shut-ins who don’t venture out and imagine the world around them a scary dangerous place that they need protection from, they may not agree. They announce “If that dictator had free health care, we’d love that dictator.” They announce there are imaginary places where people receive better medical care than the United States. They will talk about better places, better ways, they will bash your country and talk about what to be afraid of and who’s to blame for it.
Patient Reform, Socialized Medicine Style
Well, let’s see what the Democrat Party and its Progressive masters put up as Health Care Reform. Let’s see if they are willing to destroy the best medical care in the world by controlling who pays for it. As long as YOU, the individual, are able to pay for the health care you want, when you want it, we will get the best medical care there is. But all that will end once you can no longer receive health care unless everyone else can get it to.
Patient conditions, collectivist health care style
It will be illegal for doctors to take private health insurance. The FDA will control what you eat, what you drink and what medicine you are allowed to take. Obamacare will not control costs, it will only control spending. The difference between what something costs and what Obamacare will spend, now that government will be in charge of what your health care costs, that will be the difference between what medical care you do and don’t get. Trying to control the cost an individual has to pay on anything only increases the demand.
Hence, you get lines. Deteriorating conditions. Overwhelmed systems. Sure it took fifty years for it to get this bad in Cuba. But that’s what you’ll be leaving behind for your sons and daughters. Real nice.
The Left has gotten advice from some of the brightest members of the Democrat Party that America is not buying some of its most cherished lunatic fantasies, and that passing this Health Care will be a millstone around the neck of the Jeffersonians for many an election to come.
Watch your Sunday morning programs, boys and girls. You may just see the first truly nationalization of mid term elections. People won’t be going out to vote for their Congressman or Senator. They’ll be going out to vote against THIS BILL.
Wheeeeeee!
Crowley’s freaking out! Crowley’s losing it! I have a feeling we’re finally gonna get reform!
(Don’t you love that “shaky shut-ins who don’t venture out and imagine the world around them a scary dangerous place that they need protection from?” Merriam-Webster, your next edition, illustration for definition of “projection,” you can do no better than this:
“We have the best medical care in the world. Most people in this country have health insurance so they can go to the doctor and get procedures when they want them.”
Most people . . . . except the 46 million uninsured, half of whom are (according to the HHS) below 200% of poverty.
Best medical care in the world . . . except by all standard international indicators of health. The US ranks just above Cuba in terms of infant mortality. We have some of the highest cancer and chronic illness rates in the world. And while we spend more on health care as percent of GDP than any other nation, our amenable mortality rates are the highest in the OECD. In short, we spend more for less than virtually any other western industrialized nation.
A thoroughly Republican definition of success.
You and I agree on one thing though. The Obama plan sucks.
INTERNATIONAL indicators of health?
“Oh, well those are just a bunch of international elites weighing in on that. I simply dismiss them out of hand”.
Signed,
Terry Crowley
I agree more competition, currently there is no requirement for insurance to follow antitrust laws. That is why it was important to have a public option to create some competition.
I beleive the remainer of reforms, allowing purchases across state line through the insurance exchange as proposed in the bills, so that the care providors in the state accept the insurance. Cost of care between some states are vastly different so that is reflected in the insurance rates, will help to provide some competition.
ww, we all wanted a strong public option or medicare buy-in, let alone single-payer. But this bill really is a big improvement over the status quo, and can be returned to and improved.
As Theda Skocpol wrote today on Talking Points Memo, “…if this new framework passes through House action and a reconcliliation side-car, that will open new political possibilities in the future. Before long, it will become very possible to enact Medicare extensions or a public option through majority budget votes, because they will be deficit-fighters. Especially ‘Medicare for More’ which will be my new slogan.”
Till then, we have the howlings of Crowley to entertain us.
ww is your typical left wing America basher. people like ww use b.s. to back up their america hatred. we have better survival rates and lower mortality rates for cancer. we have better access to medicine for chronic diseases. Lower income Americans are in better health than lower income people from other countries. nowhere can ww back up anything they say.
Get that? Having insurance, which should be for those unexpected events, does not translate into medical care. Do not listen to the verbal slight of hand from politically correct jackboot ignoramus’ who say otherwise. Insurance is NOT medical care! The poor get medical care. Anything else is a LIE. Twice as many seniors report excellent health as the socialized medicine countries. I could go on and on. They want to distort and take away what you have so you can stand in line. The photos above ARE socialized medicine. You will get your moneys worth.
And Vern, no one one wants the public option. Its deader than you juvenile humor. Quit swatting at imaginary flies, it would make you at least look healthier. you might just start shouting WTF? after every sentence. Then when people are listening to you, you’d know what they were thinking. Except of course, for your daily kook fringe friends.
ww is your typical left wing America basher. people like ww use b.s. to back up their america hatred.
Terry’s catechism of distortions and cherrypickings aside, this is the heart of his stupidity. Anyone who wants to improve anything about their own country – even its health care system – hates their country.
This is just so freaking STUPID that I kick myself for even reading this guy. Well, skimming anyway. How about next time he discovers a leak in his cabin roof, and starts to try to plug it up, I say “Hey Terry, why do you hate your cabin so much? You’re just a right wing cabin basher!”
I could waste all day writing paragraphs debunking each of his sentences above, but is there not more to life than that? Let’s just summarize: it’s distortions, cherrypickings and out-and-out lies. (Oh, and with a relatively irrelevant truth thrown in here and there by accident.)
Health care reform is coming, brother!
The photos above ARE socialized medicine.
An example of the quality of Crowley’s argumentation. (Apart from who said anything about socialized medicine?)
When this bill goes through, when 31 million more Americans have (private) insurance, when insurance companies can no longer discriminate on pre-existing conditions, when they have to spend 85% instead of 70% of their money on medical care, when waste and fraud is ferretted out of Medicare, when lower-income Americans’ insurance is subsidized, when all the other modest sensible reforms in this bill go through… WE WILL ALL BE IN A DANK CUBAN PRISON CIRCA 1970’s. Be afraid!
You need meds, Brother Crowley.
Keep yappin Vern. You are so stupid and ignorant its a terrible crime not to give you some help. If you give me your number I will have county come by with a social worker.
Note the daftness and complete emptiness of his responses. He’s arguing for things that no one is saying will actually happen. Why, we’ve passed a new dog leash law…. everyone will now have a job! When waste and fraud is vetted out of Medicare… if they wanted to do it, they would do it now. They can’t tell you anyone will get health insurance subsidized by everyone else because 20% of those they count as uninsured already qualify, 20% make over 50k, and 20% are non citizens. They have the “intention” of doing it, which is all that matters to people like this.
These are what are known as “terrible” non-sequiturs.
Improvements are one thing. Fear mongering falsehoods for a selfish destructive motive are another. You are no different than the vampire union thugs sucking california dry. You won’t be happy til you do it to the whole country.
(Apart from who said anything about socialized medicine?)
Now, this is another conceit that left wing wackjobs like Vern think they can slink around. What is the difference between the beliefs of Vern and a socialist party member in europe? None. He knows it. I know it.
He may be pocketing trial lawyer dollars. But what he is doing is lying, fearmongering and baiting you to be afraid.
You have the best medical care in the world in the US. Vern deserves nothing but your scorn when he says anything else.
Wouldnt go driving anywhere anytime soon the way you are now Vern. Not safe.
For people like Vern, health care reform is not about the best reforms. Its more about what best fits his ‘Washington knows best’ mentality. Its less about helping patients and more about scoring political points. This is whats possessed progressives in America. They do not care about whats best. Only what the government can do for them.
It’s true that I won’t waste much time debating substantive points with this unhinged propagandist. As the President correctly commented the other day, everything has already been said.
And you have my number.
