News from Huntington Beach’s Joe Shaw

Joe Shaw Leads in Fundraising for HB City Council Race

Huntington Beach City Council Candidate Joe Shaw has raised more than $14,000 in his race for Huntington Beach City Council, his campaign announced today.  The latest campaign finance report shows he raised that amount in the July – January 2009 reporting period.

“Huntington Beach residents have shown they want leaders with business credentials and leaders who have record of standing up for our neighborhoods, beaches and parks.” Shaw said. “My strong fundraising is an indication of community-wide non-partisan support and proves we have the early support it takes to build a winning campaign.”

Shaw has also racked up numerous endorsements from past HB mayors and commissioners and from city leaders throughout Orange County.

Two Orange County political groups have given Shaw their early endorsements — the Orange County League of Conservation Voters and the Elections Committee of Orange County (ECCO).

As I type, I am sitting in an emergency meeting called by Joe, who is currently a planning commissioner.   We’re at the library at St. Wilfrid’s Episcopal Church working on solutions to the homeless problem here – 30,000 in OC, definitely thousands in HB.   Joe is a real community leader and successful businessman whom everybody loves when they meet him, progressive in his ideals and practical in his policies.  I can see it now:  HB council 2010, HB Mayor 2012, Assemblyman 2016, and Congressman Joe Shaw from 2020 into dotage…
