“Republican politicians and conservative activists are launching a ballot campaign to suspend California’s landmark global-warming law, in what they hope will serve as a showcase for a national backlash against climate regulations,” according to the L.A. Times.
Supporters are serious. They have commitments of nearly $600,000 to gather signatures. The proposed ballot measure will delay curbs on the greenhouse gas emissions of power plants and factories until the state’s unemployment rate drops.
Presumed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown is a major supporter of Assembly Bill 32, which this proposed initiative will seek to rollback. Brown’s acolyte, Mary D. Nichols, chairwoman of the state’s Air Resources Board, has been championing AB 32 as well.
There is little doubt that AB 32 will finish off what is left of California’s economy. To do this when there is still no clear evidence of global warming is just damned irresponsible. Ironically, the East Coast is frozen solid – so much so that the House of Representatives just canceled all votes for the week! And here in Southern California we are drowning in rain. So much for global warming!
I was happy when liberal wacko Gavin Newsom canceled his gubernatorial campaign. In fact we gave Brown a free ad here just to make sure Newsom would lose. I forgot all about that ad and today I received an email from the Brown campaign asking me to remove the ad. I was more than happy to do so! In fact we replaced it with an ad for the Steve Poizner campaign.
We cannot afford another Brown governorship. The sad thing is that too many Republicans appear to be enamored of Meg Whitman, the inexperienced zillionaire who has, up until now, refused to debate her sole GOP opponent, Poizner.
Can we really afford another rich GOP whackjob with no experience? No.
Poizner at least has experience, both in California and in D.C. He is getting pushed aside by Whitman’s money, but Republicans need to think about what they are doing. Brown will eat Whitman alive.
The only other choice for the Republicans will be to draft someone else as their gubernatorial nominee, but time is short and their cupboard is quite bare. And few GOP politicians want to run for Governor knowing they will have to deal with a Legislature full of lame tax and spend Democrats.
So Poizner it is. Either we get behind him, or we let Brown win and ruin our state. The choice is clear.
As for AB 32, there is good news. A survey by the Pew Research Center found that 28% of the public considers global warming a high priority, a drop of 10 points from 2007. This issue could tank Brown.
“To do this when there is still no clear evidence of global warming is just damned irresponsible. Ironically, the East Coast is frozen solid.”
YOU ARE WRONG on this Art, first, it’s Global CLIMATE change not global warming and conflating weather and climate is just down right DUMB.
Secondly, the corporate backed message that “there still no clear evidence of global warming” is bull, SCIENTISTS agree and are very alarmed, it’s only our corporate backed media that’s trying to obfuscate the facts and Americans are buying it because they are uninformed and lazy.
Third, AB32 already has a built in mechanism for suspending it during economic downturns, but alterntive energy is where NEW JOBS should and could come from IF we are NOT SHORT-SIGHTED.
Lastly, I was born in Orange County, but I grew up in Riverside County in the sixties (when California only had about 10 million people compared to today’s 35 million) and I remember the hot SMOGGY DAYS of summer, the air was thick and brown, talk about ruining an economy, SMOG destroyed the Inland Empire. Once upon a time they were beautiful communities with some wealthy enclaves, but during the 60’s and 70’s anyone who could, left, and even though the air quality has improved, THANKS TO REGULATIONS, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties remain distressed to this day.
The Poizner plan calls for “Tax Cuts for every taxpayer and business in California to jumpstart the economy”. On top of the Bush tax cuts this will probably overstimulate the economy – well at least it should ensure that deficits will continue.
Brown knows how to cut spending and perhaps he’s now learned not to leave freeways unfinished like last time.
Anonster is the perfect example of those who don’t believe in God will believe in anything. And notice how she chastises about not confusing weather with “climate” but in a following paragraph she uses anecdotal evidence about a hot smoggy day to back up climate change. Weather doesn’t have anything to do with “climate change”, right Warmer?
In the mid 17th century, Galileo Galilei was brought before the inquisition for heresy. His scientific beliefs had challenged established knowledge and Aristotelian scholars. Blind dogmatism even led some scholars of the day to refuse to look through Galileos telescope, insisting it was a trick. Galileo was judged ridiculous, and pitiable, that he could have anything to teach. Especially since he was a mathemetician, and they were the lowest on the pecking order. Galileo was not wealthy, and so to prove his worth to patronage , he was constantly under pressure to prove his scientific and philisophical arguments.
Most mainstream scientists were personally wealthy, using their wealth for the free time it took to experiment. They looked down on Galileo, claiming his works had the motivation of profit and accomplishment, rather than “moral duty”. It was only after years of being unable to silence Galileo by logical argument or academic pressure that his enemies turned to the church. Church leaders, having used selective passages from the bible, which were originally intended as parables or analogies, to announce that the sun and stars revolved around the earth, had to assert its authority. Twisting the words of any religion is desecration.
Today, we have the same kinds of scholars refusing to look through the telescope. And they do not like having their dogma challenged. They twist the scope and power of science with words like consensus, which mean nothing. We see the same attempt to destroy the academic careers of scientists who can reveal that climate change is not, and can not be, man made. The men who are supposed to be the vanguard of investigation, research, and discovery, wave their hand and say discussion is ended. The church never needed to defend Aristotelian theories, and it is sad that science has needed to defend Warmer theories. This desecration of science continues unabated, and we as a society are going to pay the price for it.
Read the rest here.
And Terry is the perfect example of propagandists so eager to find inconsistencies on the other side that they can’t comprehend perfectly plain writing.
And notice how she chastises about not confusing weather with “climate” but in a following paragraph she uses anecdotal evidence about a hot smoggy day to back up climate change. Weather doesn’t have anything to do with “climate change”, right Warmer?
No, Crowley, anonster’s last paragraph was an argument that POLLUTION RUINS THE ECONOMY. (I grew up in the Inland Empire myself – Ontario – and we had to move out because of my severe asthma which immediately disappeared in Orange County. We were just lucky that my dad could get a job in Huntington Beach.)
As far as Art’s specific gripe, anonster’s best point is “Third, AB32 already has a built in mechanism for suspending it during economic downturns, but alterntive energy is where NEW JOBS should and could come from IF we are NOT SHORT-SIGHTED.”
Unfortunately, Brown’s people sent a nastygram (?) (gotta call you Art, what was that about?) and so Art joins the ranks of climate change deniers (?) It’s getting very lonely being sane on this blog.
Crowley’s piece that he links to is his big celebration of that mini-scandal from December or so when some e-mails between some climate change scientists were intercepted and absurdly used by the whole corporate-funded rightwing media machine to “debunk” the entire scientific consensus. I’ve been putting off doing my debunking debunk, just like I HAD been putting off looking into the ACORN tapes, just because I resent constantly having to deal with the right’s latest BS du jour. But for now there’s this:
http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/12/09/climate-gate-timeline/
Terry,
I’m afraid it’s YOU who will believe anything, photochemical smog is pollution it is NOT weather, but it is affected by weather.
From Wikipedia on smog;
In the 1950s a new type of smog, known as photochemical smog, was first described.
This forms when sunlight hits various pollutants in the air and forms a mix of inimical chemicals that can be very dangerous. A photochemical smog is the chemical reaction of sunlight, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the atmosphere, which leaves airborne particles (called particulate matter) and ground-level ozone.
Nitrogen oxides are released by nitrogen and oxygen in the air reacting together under high temperature such as in the exhaust of fossil fuel-burning engines in cars, trucks, coal power plants, and industrial manufacturing factories. VOCs are released from man-made sources such as gasoline (petrol), paints, solvents, pesticides, and biogenic sources, such as pine and citrus tree emissions.
All of these chemicals are usually highly reactive and oxidizing. Photochemical smog is therefore considered to be a problem of modern industrialization. It is present in all modern cities, but it is more common in cities with sunny, warm, dry climates and a large number of motor vehicles.[1] Because it travels with the wind, it can affect sparsely populated areas as well.
anonster and Vern,
We have not had a smog alert since forever. So why the continual crack down?
The truth is, the world is being polluted not by us but rather by China and other countries who do a lot of manufacturing but don’t give a damn about the environment.
Why should we destroy our economy? The global community needs to crack down on China in particular, but also India and other emerging economies.
As for green jobs, that is a pile of horse-sh*t. What will happen is that EXISTING jobs will be changed and modified into these green jobs. The net new jobs will be zero. Existing companies will simply retool. That is already happening.
Just look at the poll results to see what most of us think of all this. Jobs are what matters. That is why I think Brown can be defeated. He is out of touch with California’s working families.
And yes Vern, I am pissed at the Brown people – all they did however was remind me that now that our first goal has been accomplished, which was to take out Gavin Newsom, we can get busy taking out Brown.
This is yet another screw-up by the sad blue boys at the Liberal OC. They were all Newsom supporters, but they called Brown and complained that we were advertising his campaign. To be honest, I had forgotten about the little half-inch ad. Now it is gone and we are energized and focused. Our goal now is to defeat Brown and his job-killing agenda.
Adios Jerry!
Please can we take the people who where born in the 5os and early sixities and send them to an Island.. these brat idiots born of the greatest generation grewup, are now teaching in our schools/colleges, are running this country ie.. Polosi – and are distroying and warping all the great opportunites they grew up with. They are a bunch of greedy bastards ie.. house prices and i want them gone…
A bit harsh i know.. but really can you just leave and take your Global warming (climate change) bullshit and leave the X gen.. some country left to enjoy!
If Global warming is real, i would rather fry, than listen to idiots like Pelosi telling me what i can and can’t do..
So there:P
I am having a mean moment, i can’t help it!
*Michelle is on target AGAIN….whew..we haven’t agreed this much since Gray Davis was recalled!
OK…look at it this way: Downtown Jerry Brown is likeable. Name ONE other politician of any stripe is seems, appears or is: LIKEABLE?
What to do. Waste your Republican Vote for Steve? Nah, how about MEG?
Everyone in business thinks MEG is the “Cats Meow”! NO, Meg is just not as LIKEABLE as Downtown Brown! So, what to do? Well, first off Global Swarming is the biggest make-work Governmental Boondoggle since CA Redistricting!
Who cares? Does it cause new business and employ people? Just as much as WAR! So, how can you beat that dead horse?
OK….Glad Gavin took the drop and glad that no one seems to want to be Governor. Mel Gibson had to make up stuff and be disagreeable…just to get out of running. Tom Selleck is just a hard case and plain refuses. That leaves Bruce Willis – as the only possible contender that could beat Downtown Brown. Chances – NOT LOOKING TOO PROMISING…at this writing!
The scientists have clearly stated that the increase in global tempertures will lead to unstable weather. The weather certainly seems to be more unstable that I can rememeber.
Unstable does not mean everywhere will be warmer all the time.
I have to agree telling people what to do, does not work, but incentives, investments and planning will.
FYI- I am supporting none of the above for Governor
Benson: Who dat? IPCC?
Link your source for this BS.
I heard that your GOBAL WARMING EXPERTS, are thinking suicidel thoughts…
I wonder why?? Could it be that they got caught tampering with the data?
Mr. Benson, you seam like a very nice man. But really do you think this world could be distroyed by a couple of ants!
Since the left seams to hate humanity so much, i thought they would want the earth to fry us all and Since Mars temp. has also increased i suggest we send all the leftists here on earth to Mars to fight global warming for lets just say FOREVER!
Well that’s a shame that Jerry’s kids danced to the LOC tune, it can only help to have a plug on an unpredictable, controversial, well-read blog like this.
Sounds to me though like your immediate problem is the insidious E-Meg.
And let me repeat “AB32 already has a built-in mechanism for suspending it during economic downturns.” Economic downturns – that’s NOW, and probably a few more years. Nobody least of all Brown wants to destroy our economy for environmental concerns.
AB32 – was inacted 3 years ago – right??
It was suppose to lead the world into environmentally friendly world- so the quesiton is “why has the world not been lead?”
because its stupid and no one eles would touch it!
Art,
It is frightening to think that you may have gotten your talking points from the entertainment media (ie. John and Ken @ KFI).
The LA TIMES REFERENCE not withstanding, this is largely hyperbole.
WHAT IS THE REALISTIC ALTERNATIVE FOR CALIFORNIA? Meg Whitman, who hasn’t voted in years, Steve Poizner?
I can’t help but wonder why the same clamoring fools that brought us Schwarzenegger are getting so much attention.
Because it’s rained a lot (the most since 2004)we can now dismiss Global Warming? I don’t know anything about the science, but I know A LOT about California politics, and I am concerned that you of all people would go down this path.
AB32 – was inacted 3 years ago – right?? It was suppose to lead the world into environmentally friendly world- so the quesiton is “why has the world not been lead?”
You’re asking, why is progress always so damn slow?
It’s because it has to inch forward dragging along the kicking screaming likes of Quinn, Crowley, and the Grate One.
Pat yourselves on the back now. I hope you sprain a ligament doing it.
It is frightening to think that you may have gotten your talking points from the entertainment media (ie. John and Ken @ KFI).
Yeah and its also the talking point of a DUP leader in Northern Ireland who wrote a brilliant piece about why Gobal warming (sorry new word of it because the earth is not warming but has cooled) CLIMATE CHANGE.
ITs just abunch of crazy sixites idiots wanting to recapture that golden time of changing the world – they use to burn bras, now they won’t let us burn anything!
CO2 does not create problems it give us life… We breath out, trees breath in..
Most of the CO2 is recycled, if that’s a good word for it!
This earth will go on, its us we need to worry about… When you have idiots at UCI
(UCI muslim Union) calling America the evil one.. I would not be worried too much about being fryed by the sun, i would worrying about being fryed by a college student!
SCARY!
Science? Hmmm, how about this? How many people can you put into a vacuum bell jar and have them breathe their own breath – until they die?
Sadly, the EARTH is not a vacuum bell jar. It is however, susseptible to sun spots and an oil depletion allowance! It all goes back to what major issue again? How about, doing away completely with fossil fuels…and issues like Global annual brush burns, rain forest burning and making toilet paper by paper factories, while dumping the excrement into various waterways.
Don’t know any politicians that are jumping on any of those issues..you?
Give us a politician that demands that Globally – all new vehicles get at least 150 Miles Per Gallon…and you might have a better chance of getting our attention. In the meantime, Global Swarming is a sham!
Ever heard of Krakatoa? Or, the Comet landing in Sibera? They happened a ways back, all before people jumped on board the Al Gore revelation! How about Dinosaurs? They are probably the “Original Sin” they talk about in the Liberal Bible.
They can send our Nobel Prize to: General Delivery
City of Newport Beach! We will even pay the postage! Thank you very much!
-Climate change blamed for Olympic snow shortage
-Global warming a threat for the Olympics?
Here’s some news and headlines you Faux News watchers might of missed;
It comes as little surprise that this January will go down as the warmest in Vancouver history. The 44.8-degree 31-day average easily eclipsed the previous mark of 43.3, set in 2006. Since record-keeping began in 1937, the January average had been 37.9.
-Global warming an Olympic worry, says Rogge
-Meteorologist Tim Kelley says climate change is to blame for mild weather
-Olympic organizers desperate for climate change
-Welcome to the global warming games (This is no snow job)
-IOC: Global Warming Could Affect Winter Olympics
Anonster,
How is that California’s fault? We already had the toughest emission control laws in the country, before AB 32. We have not had a smog alert in thirty years! Why put the screws to us again?
This is China’s fault. Why don’t we just boycott their products instead?
Why is Brown intent on killing more of our jobs? This is not California’s fault!
By the way India is doing its own research on CLIMATE CHANGE because they do not trust the IPP – i wonder why??
Art,
California has been a leader in emission controls and our relatively clean air is proof. Imagine if California had listened to all the nay-sayers thirty years ago, with our 35 million people and 33 million cars we’d be wearing gas masks today.
WE ARE ALL AT FAULT, China may be the up and coming polluter but the good ol’ US of A is still number one (per capita) for CO 2 emissions, see;http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions
Here’s an analysisof AB 32 from Union of Concerned Scientists;
The Economic Impact of AB 32 on California Small Business
DOWNLOAD: AB 32 Small Business Economic Analysis Brochure | AB 32 Small Business Economic Analysis Report
In 2006, California passed into law Assembly Bill (AB) 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act, which requires the state to reduce its global warming pollution approximately 12 percent below current levels by 2020. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is designing a mix of policies to reach this target.
Neither AB 32 nor CARB will directly regulate or impose fees or taxes on any small business. Several economic studies have shown that AB 32 will have benefits for the economy as a whole. But many have asked, “How will AB 32 affect small businesses specifically?”
To answer this question, the Union of Concerned Scientists commissioned the Brattle Group to develop an estimate of AB 32’s likely effect on energy prices in California and the resulting year-to year impact on small businesses between 2010 and 2020. The Brattle Group’s analysis makes a series of very conservative assumptions in order to present a set of impacts that are more costly than what is likely to occur. The analysis uses an actual business in the Los Angeles area—a Mexican restaurant called the Border Grill—as a realworld example, based on the restaurant’s financial records and energy bills.
The Bottom Line
Even if California’s small businesses do nothing to decrease their energy use through energy efficiency or other means over the next 10 years, they will likely experience only a small and manageable impact from the state’s policies to reduce global warming pollution. These policies would also enable California to benefit from the new technologies and jobs that characterize a low-carbon economy.
On the other hand, if global warming is allowed to continue unchecked, it is expected to cost the United States hundreds of billions of dollars by the end of the century. California’s recreation, tourism, agriculture, real estate, and forestry businesses could suffer severe damage.
What Most Small Businesses Can Expect
The Brattle Group analysis shows that AB 32 would cause small increases in the price of electricity, natural gas, and transportation fuels. The financial impact of these price increases on small businesses depends on the ratio of a business’s energy expenditures to its total revenues. This ratio can be affected by a business’s ability to respond to higher energy prices by conserving energy, investing in energy-saving equipment, or raising its prices.
On average, California’s 700,000+ small businesses currently spend 1.4 percent of their revenues on energy. If AB 32 policies are implemented, that figure would rise to 1.7 percent by 2020. This projection assumes that small businesses do not pursue incentives, rebates, and other programs that would help lower their use of electricity, gas, and transportation fuel. By investing in energy efficiency, most small businesses could lower their energy costs significantly.
What the Border Grill Can Expect
Under the same conservative assumptions, the Border Grill could completely absorb the small increase in energy costs related to AB 32 by raising the price of a $20 meal less than three cents in 2020. That pales in comparison to the effect of inflation over 10 years: a typical increase of 2 percent per year would add $4.38 to a $20 bill.
Ms. Quinn,
Are you a supporter of the DUP in Northern Ireland? If so that would explain a whole lot about you. Ian Paisley and his ilk are a bunch of hate filled bigots. I would not be too shocked to find out that you allign yourself with them.
I grew up on the falls road and my father was murdered in 1973 by men from most likely the Shankill road….
I know Hate when i see or here it.. But i also know what makes common sense and what is plainly the truth!
You Mr.Mills are a misguilded soul who has no idea what real hate is or what it can do to your family and your country!
I have never hated anyone in my life, not even Ian Paisley, who is just another misguilded soul!
Ms. Quinn,
I am glad to hear that you view Ian Paisley as a misguided soul. On this we can agree.
Mr. Mills,
The fact that we can disagree about almost everything, have a different faith, and be able to talk to each other without a wall to divide us… is what makes this country amazing.
In my country the wall was built to keep apart two faiths… but walls are not always built of bricks or stone, most times the walls are built in our minds!
The is what hate is a wall!
Ms. Quinn,
First, it is Mill not Mills.
You state we “have a different faith”. How do you know? What is your faith?
I believe in God. Don’t you?
And you refer to your place of birth as “my country”. I am glad that you still feel an attachment to Northern Ireland. However isn’t America your country now? Whenever Latino’s state their love for their homeland or refer to themselves as Mexicans or El Salvadoran’s, etc. and refer to their homelands as “my country”, folks like you are the first to scream “why don’t you go back”.
I am not trying to start an argument with you on the subject, but shouldn’t you refer to Northern Ireland as your “place of birth” and America as “my country”? Isn’t that the standard that you hold our Latino brothers and sisters to?
“Please can we take the people who where born in the 5os and early sixities and send them to an Island.. these brat idiots born of the greatest generation grewup, are now teaching in our schools/colleges, are running this country ie.. Polosi – and are distroying and warping all the great opportunites they grew up with. They are a bunch of greedy bastards ie.. house prices and i want them gone…”
“I have never hated anyone in my life”
Somewhere in Ireland, a village is missing it’s idiot.
Hate is so much stronger than calling out a group of people who need a good old fashion lash out!
Like i said before, you have no idea what hate really looks like and i hope you never will..
You state we “have a different faith”. How do you know? What is your faith?
I don’t know what your faith is and quite frankly i could not careless.. Its great when you can say that!
And you refer to your place of birth as “my country”. I am glad that you still feel an attachment to Northern Ireland
Of course it is my country: I look Irish, i sound Irish and i cook Irish food, but my life is here now in America, i love the freedom and i love this country and its people, just as i loved my country and my people…
Whenever Latino’s state their love for their homeland or refer to themselves as Mexicans or El Salvadoran’s, etc. and refer to their homelands as “my country”, folks like you are the first to scream “why don’t you go back”.
Your really full of wee white mice MR. MILL
American people do not have a problem with immigrants loving their country, they have a problem with Immigrants not loving theirs.
Mexican immigrants are not assimulating as they should and the fact that their children have the highest teen preganancy rate and highest failure rate in schools proves it!
Latino activist’s who tell the American people to shove their values and culture up their arsh and to support latinos with entitlements they themselves can not get are causing the American people to say fu#$ $%^.
I left Ireland because i had to, not because i wanted too, but thank god i land here and i think i have given bad to the American people by becoming a pretty good citizen. I have given this country 3 beautiful and smart AMERICAN KIDS!
“I don’t know what your faith is and quite frankly i could not careless”
So please explain Ms. Quinn how you can assert we are of “different faiths” if you don’t know or care what my faith is?
Is it because in my faith we love everyone including those that may lack the proper documentation to be in this country?
Mr. Mill,
Faith is about love, but its also about right and wrong and its wrong to allow people to walk over a border collect welfare for children that they have had here and expect the American people and other immigrants to pay for it. I dont love the Mexican Governement, i think in general they are a bunch of corrupt scum who give their people a bottle of water and a map to cross another nations border instead of a job and a safe home in their own country..I left my country because of war – i cant imagine leaving my country to eat and feed my family.. Mexico has all the resources it needs to build a great nation, but the Spanish decents who rule the country could not care less about the people that inhabit Mexico. SO NO i do not love the Mexican Government at all. You don’t seam to show me too much love Mr. Mill, i expect its because i don’t agree with you!
“So please explain Ms. Quinn how you can assert we are of “different faiths” if you don’t know or care what my faith is?”
I dont know you look like a WASP.. But don’t worry i dont hold it against you – i love you brother!
🙂 good nite Mr. MILL
“Somewhere in Ireland, a village is missing it’s idiot.”
I suggest we send you anonster, i will give you a bottle of water and a map!
🙂
Michelle Quinn,
” I have given this country 3 beautiful and smart AMERICAN KIDS!”
Do you assume that Mexican immigrants don’t give this country “beautiful and smart AMERICAN KIDS”?
“Hate is so much stronger than calling out a group of people who need a good old fashion lash out!
Like i said before, you have no idea what hate really looks like and i hope you never will..”
How do you think the seeds of hate are sown?
I’ll tell you how; by ignoramuses that make sweeping generalizations about people, lumping them into one negative category after another.
“Please can we take the people who where born in the 5os and early sixities and send them to an Island…. They are a bunch of greedy bastards….”
“Mexican immigrants are not assimulating as they should and the fact that their children have the highest teen preganancy rate and highest failure rate in schools proves it!”
Hate doesn’t spring up whole, it is nurtured and fed by narrow-minded, reactionary bigots like you.
*Michelle, these people are wonderful human beings: Just ask them! Sean Mill and Anonster go to church every Sunday, teach Sunday School, Do Community Service at the local Homeless Shelter, Deliver meals to Seniors who are sick and give to every major charity including the We ARE the World for Haitians!
They hold no HATE, NO Animosity and certainly no jealously in their hearts. They are the kind of people you can rely on in a crisis. They are the Salt of the Earth – just ask them. In the meantime, they rely on people like Union of Concerned Scientists rather than the Braille Institute! You can probably find them doing fund raisers for various causes around California.
Gosh…we just love those guys!
In the meantime, we agree with you completely! AGAIN!!!
Winships,
I don’t think Sean or I have ever claimed to be “saints”, on the other hand neither of us has spewed negative accusations against whole groups of people based solely on their race or age, like Michelle Quinn does on a regular basis. It is very interesting that you brag about agreeing with her “completely”, as she is a bigot.
Bigot: A bigot is someone who holds predefined negative views about a class of people. Examples include anti-semites, homophobics, racists, religious extremists of any religion.
Oh well, you know what they say; “Birds of a feather, flock together”.
“How do you think the seeds of hate are sown?”
Not Talking and not sharing each others concerns. Not respecting each others feeling and concerns.. It quite simple really!
Do you assume that Mexican immigrants don’t give this country “beautiful and smart AMERICAN KIDS”?
I think all children are beautiful with amazing potential – MEXICAN ( i say Mexican because this is the most troubled latin immigrant) are not assimulating as they should, making it harder for their kids to become AMERICAN KIDS.. Have you ever asked yourself why hispanic kids are failing in schools, why are the joining gangs ect.. What is your answer to this, i would be interested to know!
“Hate doesn’t spring up whole, it is nurtured and fed by narrow-minded, reactionary bigots like you.”
No hate is fostered throught ignorance of the truth!
Your mind has closed to the truth, because you would rather not face it.. I dont know if your hispanic or just another hippi without a cause…but either way you foster hate by not facing facts!
SO lets face it together: Is it or is it not that Hispanic kids in California are failing school at an alarming rate?
Is it or is it not true that hisapnic girls have a high teen pregnancy rate?
Is it or is it not true that schools find it hard to involve hispanic parents in their children’s education?
Is it true or not true that iilegal immigrants have a high welfare use?
Is it true or not true that hispanics are the fastest growing population abandoned of single mothers?
Please answer the questions and please give me your opinion as to why. My mind is open and i will respect your opinion if its based on fact instead of personal attacks!
Hello Ron and Anna,
I love you writings by the way, i am learning alot from them… Thank you!
I hold nothing against people like Sean and Anonster, l just wish they could hold a converation with character attacks, its very childish and imature
… Thank God my house in Ireland was full of slagging, so i can take a bashing .. I can take racist, bigot, scumbag ect… just as long as they don’t call me buck teeth, cause its the truth.
🙂
🙂
Michelle Quinn,
You ARE quite the hypocrite;
“I hold nothing against people like Sean and Anonster, l just wish they could hold a converation with character attacks, its very childish and imature”
Your words from just this post;
“ITs just abunch of crazy sixites idiots”
“When you have idiots at UCI
(UCI muslim Union) calling America the evil one.. I would not be worried too much about being fryed by the sun, i would worrying about being fryed by a college student!”
“You Mr.Mills are a misguilded soul”
” Your really full of wee white mice MR. MILL”
“I dont know if your hispanic or just another hippi without a cause…but either way you foster hate by not facing facts!”
When I refer to you as a bigot or an idiot (your spelling alone, qualifies you), at least I’m being factual and not just indulging in name-calling.
“I think all children are beautiful with amazing potential –MEXICAN ( i say Mexican because this is the most troubled latin immigrant) are not assimulating as they should, making it harder for their kids to become AMERICAN KIDS.. Have you ever asked yourself why hispanic kids are failing in schools, why are the joining gangs ect.. What is your answer to this, i would be interested to know!”
What proof do you have that “mexican” children are not “assimilating”?
I’ve lived in Santa Ana for over 20 years and my “white” children have always gone to the public schools, so most, if not all of their friends are hispanic and I can tell you that ALL of their friends are as American as apple pie (they all love the same movies, video games, clothes, junk food, music etc..), regardless of wether or not their parents are recent immigrants. And tragically enough, many of them DON’T even speak spanish, they ask my white kids what the spanish signs say (thank you SA schools, for teaching my kids spanish).
Furthermore you are always bashing S.A. schools, and there is no denying we have issues, but we also have SUCCESS stories, Segerstrom and Godinez High Schools are all doing very well and are predominantly hispanic, how do you explain that?
“Is it true or not true that iilegal immigrants have a high welfare use?”
Did you know that “illegal immigrants” are NOT eligible for Cal-works?
As to the rest of your rant, drop-out rates, teen pregnancy and parent involvement, these are all real issues, but ALL RECENT immigrants bring their culture and values with them and it takes time to assimilate and get an economic foothold, but these differences disappear in subsequent generations.
All first generation immigrants have trouble assimilating, just remember we used to bash the Polish, the Chinese, the Jews. the Irish, the Italians, etc., until they assimilate.
Your bigotry is nothing new.
You ARE quite the hypocrite;
I can be a bit snippy, though it is hard to tolerate left wing, white imperialists telling me that i am wrong, when the facts speak for themselves.. I fully believe that the sixities generation produced alot of elitists and very dangerous individuals who have not only a distain for their race, but also their country. As far as the UCI Muslims go, they are radicals who hate Israel with a passion, and would love nothing more but to see its demise.. (this is the true face of hate). Please look at their web page regarding official from Israel who was invited to speak.
When I refer to you as a bigot or an idiot (your spelling alone, qualifies you), at least I’m being factual and not just indulging in name-calling.
The above comment alone qualifies you as being ridiculous!
Have you no idea how pompus you sound?
The fact that someone can or can’t spell speaks only about how well educated they are.. Uneducated people are not idiots nor are they bigots..
But you miss/mister who think themselves educated sound both!
Dont be so angry all the time!
‘”I’ve lived in Santa Ana for over 20 years and my “white” children have always gone to the public schools”,
And you have watchED thousands of children join gangs, drop out of school, become preganant as kids..ect…
But as long as your WHITE kids did well at the SANTA ANA public schools.. well it can’t be that bad ahhh…
“Furthermore you are always bashing S.A. schools, and there is no denying we have issues”,
Its an issue to you – for 54,000 students it having to go to failing schools, that are so corrupt that the fact they are failing is good business for a lot of rich WHITE, BROWN folk!
“SUCCESS stories, Segerstrom and Godinez High Schools are all doing very well and are predominantly hispanic, how do you explain that?”
That hisapnic kids are not stupid and hispanic parents can get involved with their kids education.. but above all that i would say it’s the admins and teachers doing their job!
Did you know that “illegal immigrants” are NOT eligible for Cal-works?
Did you know that Cal-works is not using the SAVE program which was suppose to protect taxpayers against giving entitlements to iLLegal immigrants and that most of Cal-works goes to preganant single illegal immigrant mothers.. Did you know that Cal-works is given to illegal immigrants who are not made to work (because they can’t) while American Citizen’S are??
Did you know that their is a lack of white and black families enrolled in Healthy Families because healthy families targets hispanic parents ect……
Did you know that??
“As to the rest of your rant, drop-out rates, teen pregnancy and parent involvement, these are all real issues, but ALL RECENT immigrants bring their culture and values with them and it takes time to assimilate and get an economic foothold, but these differences disappear in subsequent generations”
These are all real issues that effect the hispanic population (mostly Mexican). If hispanics continue the trend of welfare use and lack of priorty to learn the language and adopt education as a high priority… it will not be the same as other past immigrant assimulation.
“All first generation immigrants have trouble assimilating”,
My children have not!
many of my friends including those from Iran, India, Ireland, England, South Africa. have not!
Continuing to make excuses for a bad tooth will just let the infection continue to get worse!
Michelle Quinn,
“I can be a bit snippy, though it is hard to tolerate left wing, white imperialists telling me that i am wrong, when the facts speak for themselves.”
“l just wish they could hold a converation with character attacks, its very childish and imature”
Part of that “conversation” includes people with opinions that differ from you, if you’re so thin-skinned I suggest you find an echo chamber to express yourself in.
“Have you no idea how pompus you sound?

I have never made any claims regarding education, but you’re the one always touting your “brilliance”, I say; prove it! LEARN TO USE SPELL CHECK , you lazy buck-toothed Irish hag!
“you lazy buck-toothed Irish hag”
Anonster,
Now that’s not fair. We don’t know if she has buck teeth.

I never claimed i was brilliant, but i do seam to get too you Ms Harvard!
I say; prove it! LEARN TO USE SPELL CHECK , you lazy buck-toothed Irish hag!
I would rather learn to spell check using my brain not a computer..
Buck teeth and Irish i am.. as far as a hag goes, i think that mean’s – a mean old person right??
I hate to say it but with the above comment you fit the discription better than I…
I suggest you take some of your anger, passion and education and put it to good use by voicing your concern that your children got a good eduation in Santa Ana, while others do not!
PEACE!
“Anonster,
Now that’s not fair. We don’t know if she has buck teeth.”
I do!
I was born in the 1940’s. What does that make me(other than old) ?
The greatest generation ever!
*Gents: Please think “productive”.
We love it when you have a point.
How about this one:
HIB Visas are taking away American Jobs! Oh, by the way….how many folks from Mexico get HIB Visas? How many from India? How many from Taiwan? How Many for Korea? How many from England? How many from Ireland? How many from Germany?
OK…too unfair to ask those questions. You would have a much tougher time saying your magic word: “Bigot”! in
any response!
GO USA…in Vancover! Everyone into the pool! Don’t forget – no ice all Global Warming stuff. It must be some sort of Global conspiracy when Big Bear has all their snow!
Actually, the “greatest generation” was born in the 20’s, Michelle. They were the men who predominantly fought in WW2 and the women who held our country together.
Older than,
I know you’ll be SHOCKED , but Michelle is WRONG, again.
Pre 1925 Greatest Generation
1925-1945 Silent Generation
1946-1964 Baby Boomer
Michelle Quinn –
You say you want to learn and keep your mind open. If that’s true, you should pay close attention to what anonster is telling you. S/he is spot on. You communicate in a whole lot of double speak. People who “argue” successfully pay close attention to their words and make sure they’re not constantly contradicting him or herself. You don’t have to be a college graduate (or Ivy League graduate) to make valuable contributions to these “discussions.” But I think you need to look at your tendency, whenever anyone asks you a good question, to start throwing out insults like they’re “pompous” or “elite.” You really have a thing against people who use proper grammar!!! But what makes you look like a ridiculous goon is when you say things like, “l just wish they could hold a converation with character attacks, its very childish and immature” when that is what you do ALL OF THE TIME.
