Add Blackwater in Baghdad to the list of Haditha, Fallujah, and the rest of the slanders against the men and women of Operation Iraqi Freedom that have been proven false and shot to hell, pardon the expression.
A federal judge has dismissed all charges against five Blackwater Worldwide security guards charged in a deadly Baghdad shooting. U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina said Thursday the Justice Department overstepped its bounds and wrongly used evidence it was not allowed to see. He said the government’s explanations have been contradictory, unbelievable and not credible.
Blackwater contractors were hired to guard State Department diplomats in Iraq.
Proven false? Not quite. The case was simply dismissed. And one of the 6 Blackwater guards involved in the case has already pleaded guilty to killing one Iraqi and wounding another.
Do we want to go into the cases where American service members have been found guilty of various forms of crimes during the course of the war in Iraq? Or is it cool here to point to one event and expand it into a broad brushstroke about the “slanders” against servicemembers?
anon, you expected more than half-truths and hyperbolic points on a conservative blog?
Nonya,
I must disagree with the notion that this is a conservative blog. Our writers include noted progressives including Vern Nelson, Jim Benson and Duane Roberts.
Yes, we have a few Republican writers too. And I am a Libertarian. We accept all views here. It makes for more interesting debates.
We are a political blog – but we don’t go right or left. I would say we just meander all over the place…
Art, given the volume of writing here from the left (with the exception of Vern), it’s pretty safe to say the blog leans noticeably to the right. That would be, uh, conservative. Primarily.
#4,
But the opportunity is there. I cannot help it if the liberal writers are not as prolific as our more conservative bloggers, and for the record I rip the right as often as I rip the left.
We are always looking for more liberal bloggers. If anyone is interested email me at apedroza@earthlink.net.
Terry,
I thought you were smarter than this.
Dismissed maybe, but the whole Blackwater story is SO crazy and Un-american it’s not even political. Take a couple of religious nuts give them no bid contracts and set them loose to do the work of the US military.
As for prolific, I would say for this post, incitive hit’s the mark.
[Take a couple of religious nuts give them no bid contracts and set them loose to do the work of the US military.] End of kenlaysnotdead’s citation.
Take a couple of X-Gang Bangers give them no bid contracts with City of Santa Ana and set them loose to do the work of the SAPD13….. you get gunned down mother in front of her child named Susie Young Kim. See http://www.ocregister.com/articles/galipo-168394-kim-officer.html
Nice to have you back Stan…..
Big difference. Kim was a criminal. and the guys that blasted her were public employees. NOT FOR PROFIT SOLDIERS.
Art, you are a kind man for allowing Stanley the New Years gift of posting, now put him back in the penalty box.
Gone Baby Gone……Watch It.
“Kim was a criminal”….. Hmmmmm
Kim ran several red lights and drove over the speed limit. The usual moving violation.
So were the Arabs driving in violation of the law in Baghdad.
That is why you are no different from the “religious nuts” kenlaysnotdead!.
FYI, you can’t put the truth in the the penalty box!
Eventually it will get out and will get you.
Stan usually I am in disagreement with you, but on this we agree, we should not be contracting out work to private comanies that should be done by Military personel, that have the proper training for the job.
Now that may mean we need to increase our committement to properly fund our troops and it may require a draft in the short term. Along with a earmarked tax to fund the war against the extremists.
Following the current policy leads to favored companies getting no-bid contracts like the previous administration did, imporpoerly trained persons doing jobs they should not and creating incidents that our ememies can use as tools to convince more people to jion them in fighting us.
Oh yes, forgot one. Not invading countries that did not attack us or had nothing to do with those who did, like Iraq would be a good idea to follow in the future.
A lot of the mess we are in both ourseas and here at home is a direct result of this unprecidented stupid mindless decision.
