Bring your hoods and gasoline folks! Teabaggers have declared that Nancy Pelosi IS the WICKED WITCH who must be burned. Nancy Pelosi is a “Treasonous Witch!”, they are screaming! The Danville TEA Party plans a “Fired Up For Freedom” rally Nov. 21, which will end in burning Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in effigy, according to a news release from organizer Nigel Coleman. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21, 2009. The upcoming “Lynching Day for Freedom” is yet to be determined! Oh wait! They’ve already started the lynchings during the Teabagger “Patients First” event………….
“Patients First!” Protesters hung Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil in effigy in front of his office – EVEN BEFORE he voted for any kind of health care options.
Nothing says well-intentioned, reasonable discourse like an angry mob bearing nooses and torches.
What makes these “patriots” any better than your common terrorist or your common incendiary radical? Going Rogue now includes showing up at health care rallies with loaded guns, protesting for the rights of health care insurance companies to make obscene profits, and now, Witch Burnings as entertainment for the weekends. I thought those kinds of radicals were looked down upon in polite society. Or are we heading towards third world radical mentality?
Virgina has abysmal unemployment, yet the teabaggers are adamant that there be NO healthcare reform. Hey, idiots, UNEMPLOYMENT = NO HEALTH INSURANCE. What SANE company is going to want to bring and grow jobs in a place like witch-burning Danville, Virgina? What the hell is going on with the GOP? One of the two major political parties in this country has turned into a cult. Teabagger patriots hate this country and are ramping up their violent intents.
Another blogger summed this up the best:
“On MSNBC, hosts Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow have been tittering over the similarity of the name “tea parties” to an obscure homosexual sexual practice known as “tea bagging.” Night after night, they sneer at Republicans for being so stupid as to call their rallies “tea bagging.”
Every host on Air America and every unbathed, basement-dwelling loser on the left wing blogosphere has spent the last week making jokes about tea bagging, a practice they show a surprising degree of familiarity with.
Except no one is calling the tea parties “tea bagging” — except Olbermann and Maddow. Republicans call them “tea parties.”
But if the Republicans were calling them “tea-bagging parties,” the MSNBC hosts would have a fantastically hilarious segment for viewers in San Francisco and the West Village and not anyplace else in the rest of the country. On the other hand, they’re not called “tea-bagging
You made a spelling error – it’s America LAST.
Tea Party participants like the ones in Danville are increasingly radicalized because of their ignorance and fear fueled by their bigotry against anyone that is “not like THEM”. They are undiciplined and unreasonable. It is all about THEM first and the US be damned.
They are disgraceful.
Dear Ms/Mr. Vixen,
I would ask you and all other members of the Democrat Party to not use the term “Teabagging”. Folks who are not in the Democrat party find it offensive.
Wikipedia:
“Teabagging is a slang term for the act of a man placing his scrotum in the mouth[1] or on or around the face (including the top of the head) of another person, often in a repeated in-and-out motion as in irrumatio. The practice resembles dipping a tea bag into a cup of tea.[2][3]
Teabagging is also an erotic activity used within the context of BDSM and male dominance, with a dominant man teabagging his submissive partner as one variation of facesitting and/or as a means of inflicting erotic humiliation. Teabagging is not always carried out with a solely “sexual” connotation. In some cases it can be carried out as a prank whereby a male might teabag a sleeping person for the mere humiliation and humor of the act.”
Wikipedia:
Depends on which source you use as a reference: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=teabaggers
Teabaggers 116 up, 66 down
Political conservatives who hold “Tea Parties” supposedly to protest government spending.
Those teabaggers seem to forget that conservatives like Bush spent taxpayer dollars like drunken sailors over the last few years
Oh, and WHY be so thin skinned? Your cult has loaded weapons, nooses and torches as back up. What a hot headed cowardly lot!
No, I’m sorry, Red Vixen is correct. The people pictured and described above ARE teabaggers by all definitions, NOT tea-partiers. Case in point: My group, the Orange County chapter of Health Care For All California, actually held a “Tea Party” in Huntington Harbour IN FAVOR of single-payer healthcare, way back in 2006, LONG before these pro-corporate clowns started their shenanigans. We felt a true kinship with the original Boston Teapartiers, who were protesting their exploitation by the giant multinational British East Indian Tea Company just as we were trying to throw off the death-grip the Health Insurance Corporations have on our lives. This is from our invitation/flyer at the time:
(Early HB settlers dressed as natives, emptying boxes of
health insurance policies into Huntington Harbour, in a famous
act of rebellion that helped spark the OneCareNow campaign.)
In contrast, today’s Teabaggers welcome and crave their oppression and “humiliation” by huge forces beyond their control (the for-profit insurance industry) and quake in abject terror at the thought of having real choices in health insurance (the public OPTION) or actually moving the system into our own democratic control (single payer.) Hence the comparison to the playful sexual practice (known to most of us from the John Waters / Edward Furlong romp “Pecker”) is entirely appropriate.
Although “humiliation?” Seems to me a scrotum in the mouth for a few minutes is a lot less humiliating than insisting on having your healthcare held hostage by faceless insurance bureaucrats.
Boy, this is the reason why I hate extreme political idiots who must think we’re all idiots like them.
Whether you call it tea-bagging or tea-party, it’s still stupid, OK?? I can’t believe some people are trying to justify it by saying, “no no no, not bagging but party”. What difference does it make, what the hell does tea have to do with it? Notice how we’re fighting over the term instead of issue.
The Boston Tea Party actually involved TEA. Sure, the bigger picture was that they protested the British imposed tax, but tea was a significant part of the act. If people today want to protest government spending, bailouts, health care, blah blah blah, then do so in a civilized way. I might actually agree with some of your views if you’d stop insulting me with your freaking theatrical act and drop the teabag slogan.
Besides, what’s so great about the Boston Tea Party anyway? A bunch of white guys went out and destroyed properties while dressed as Indians to hide their identities. Brave!!! Next thing we know, today’s Tea-baggers will protest while dressed as Mexicans. That way they can blame everything on illegal aliens.
I agree with RX on this. They are a disgrace.
After they’re done burning the effigy, maybe they’ll do me a favor and throw themselves on top of the fire. Stupid teabaggers.
omg – that is HORRIBLE! Lefties would NEVER to ANYTHING like THAT!!
uh, oh …. wait a second … maybe ..
humm, … well certainly NOT in Chicago.
uh, oh ….

i love these far left goons like commi red . 1 pelosi is a witch . the same thing you rip on reps for she is the same for the other side . also if your a rep and have a rally so called tea party to protest the party of high taxes – DEMS . your called names = racist , astroturf as one stupid lady said once , if your a dem and protest your called a american hero . post 8 take a bow that was classic.
Thanks for the comments Vern and Lam! i am looking forward to the upcoming images shot in that rally. A witch burning is SOOOO “retro!”.
Welcome Goposaur. My old party is such a cult these days!
Banned in SA,
Thanks for the links. It reminds me of how LONG 8 YEARS was under Bush. I don’t agree with what the radical fringe on the left was doing either. And I really do understand either side when they are upset under any particular administration. However, I think all this witch burning stuff is going to backfire. It just does not make sense to let the insurance industry hold us all hostage, all the while the teabaggers are out there protesting against their own self-interest. Of course we need health insurance reform. Anyone who does not understand that NOW, simply cannot be trusted as an informed source.
Grate One, thanks for stopping by. Really. I see you are back to calling me Commi. I guess our little Kumbaya moment is over? 😉
red i think so .when you post things up like this . the people are upset infact they are so angry they are going to take it out on the party in charge . see virginia and n.j and what is going to happen in vegas . pelosi dose not unite she is a one sided extreme far left . and i will stop there because if i go on . wooeeeee .
I guess hanging Sarah Palin in effigy was okay, then?
While offensive, burning politicians in effigy predates the American Revolution. Fortunately for politicians, the public no longer tars and feathers them (as the Sons of Liberty did to loyalist officials).
Grate one, I would think you’d be delighted that I am even giving this story some publication time. I am sure you’d hate to miss out on this teabagging event in VA.
I still don’t “get” why people are so upset about health care reform. AARP, AMA and even business associations are supporting reform. Health care insurance as it stands is unsustainable, except for the heads of those companies. Doing NOTHING is not an option. People are going broke and dying in the process under the current status quo.
Rogue Elephant,
I think that gimmicks like burning political figures work against whatever cause the protesters are trying to promote. In third world countries, they burn flags and figures in effigy – because, let’s face it – what ELSE do they actually have going on? Here in this country we have all sorts of ways to carry on PRODUCTIVE DISCOURSE. People who are so inarticulate that they would rather burn stuff up, than carry on sane, coherent arguments create distance from rational sympathizers.
I am sure that some of these teabaggers would really love to tar and feather people but they know they’d do hard time in jail for that. Angry mobs have cropped up throughout history. Intimidation tactics of fire and hanging are a disgrace. It’s just shameful behavior by folks who are out of control.
As a TEA PARTIER {I only teabag when its a good night at the homestead ;)} and someone who has Nigel Coleman’s number on my phone since I’ve helped him with events in the past, I would like to make you aware that there was a very strong push within the movement to keep this from happening. In fact, I was personally lobbying to prevent it. Believe it or not, we are not a violent group and most of us actually do feel that this action was over the top. That said, the only thing that particularly disturbs me are the keywords being used among the liberal blogs. I guess no one took the time to find out that Nigel Coleman is an African American. I understand your anger and some of the name calling, but can we get over the race baiting….PLEEEEAAASSSSEEE?????? The only sheets I have in my house are to pull over me in bed. If you want civil discourse, please look in a mirror and extend us the courtesy that most of us do you (like trying to prevent an effigy burning from happening). Thanks guys! ;D
Welcome to the discussions Michael.
I really did try and find a picture of Nigel, but couldn’t. I think the whole hanging and burning thing turns most sane people completely OFF. Sorry, but the nooses and torches really conjure up some pretty ugly images of racism. It’s YOUR rally and even YOU cannot control that mob. It’s really hatred run amuck.
Have a GREAT burning! I am looking forward to seeing the photos of the event 😉
Again, Red Vixen, please listen very carefully to me. I am not directly involved with this particular group, I simply have helped in the past. Second, I, along with most others in the TEA Party movement have worked very hard to prevent this from happening, because WE AGREE THAT IT IS WRONG. I am merely pointing out that the constant accusations of racism are uncalled for as a blanket statement to define THE ENTIRE GROUP. We both have lunatic fringes. I know that ELF doesn’t speak for everyone on the left, do not accuse an entire group of people for the actions of a few….especially when most of the group you are castigating agrees with the position that these actions are wrong.
Thanks for dropping by Michael, it’s good to see not all of you guys are total nuts. I think my friend Red read you too quickly.
By the way, fun fact: Girlfriends can also be teabagged!
Vern, that was exactly what I was suggesting. Its the one thing that liberals and conservatives have in common. 😉
Between the teabaggers and Sarah Palin, I think a lot of moderate republicans are hoping they just go away
😉
Glad you found our little blog and took the time to post, Michael. Again, welcome!
Red and Vern,
Thank you for the gracious welcome. I love discourse, and while we may disagree on many things, I think positive dialogue is the only way to move this country forward. One of the things that irritates me most about my side of the argument is that thoughtless goobers like to bash the Left as unpatriotic. I always refer them to the fact that men like John Adams, Patrick Henry, and George Washington stood along side men like Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Paine. They had very different views of how this country should form, but they all love the United States and were all patriots. So, my fellow patriots, thank you for the welcome and I will be reading and posting occassionally, so to be too difficult with me please. 🙂
Michael,
Glad you found us and I am looking forward to reading more of your posts! Rv – –
From yesterday’s Talking Points Memo:
Conservatives Debate: Is ‘Teabagger’ Their ‘N-Word’?
In the latest issue of National Review, Jay Nordlinger details the history of ‘teabagging’ and reports on the conservative debate about what to do about it. But it’s not what you think — no, really, it’s not what you think.
Nordlinger’s article isn’t about tea bagging in the fun sense, nor is it about the long-term effects on the GOP from teabagging in the tri-corn hat-and-time-on-your-hands sense. Rather, it’s the story of how conservatives are trying to fix the mess they made when they first decided to call for the “teabagging” of Nancy Pelosi with a straight face.
The key moment in the early history of the tea party movement, described by Nordlinger in his article Rise of an Epithet:
The article then goes through the sophomoric early days of ‘teabagging’ among progressives — the collective “Teabaggers, eh? Well, if you insist…” from knowledgeable snarkers on the left. The lesson: if you want serious coverage of your new political movement, it’s probably best not to give your first call to action the same as a sex act. Don’t expect that the press (or your opponents) will take the high road. By the end of that first era of the tea partier, Nordlinger writes, conservatives were embarrassed and liberals were still laughing:
You might think that would be the end — it would be completely understandable if tea partiers just decided to pretend the whole “teabagging” thing never happened and never, ever discussed it again. Let’s just call it a rookie mistake, right?
Nope.
As Nordlinger reports, conservatives are now debating whether to embrace the “teabagger” epithet as a kind of badge of honor, “like ‘Christian'” or…well, how about we let him explain it:
In the end, though, Nordlinger decides this is probably a bad idea — or at least an unworkable one:
Late Update: Washington Independent’s Dave Weigel fact-checks Nordlinger, and finds that his recollection of tea partier history is a bit off. The first mention of “teabagging” came on Feb. 27, Weigel writes, not on April 15.
