Don’t Try To Be A Republican!
(failed DINO Virginia gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds)
Here’s why Creigh Deeds got only half-hearted support from the Obama administration; why popular black ex-governor Wilder refused to endorse him; why Virginian Democratic voters stayed home in droves last night; and why he lost the race by 17 points: He thought it was a good idea to:
-
run against Obama’s cap-n-trade bill and climate policy, exactly like his opponent; and ran away from his past strong environmental record, even defending the coal industry’s practice of mountaintop removal;
-
spoke out against the Public Option in health care, suggesting he might “opt” Virginia “out” if it passed;
-
opposed the Employee Free Choice Act, repeating the false right-wing claim that it would eliminate the secret ballot in union elections;
-
voted along with his opponent to make English the state’s “official language,” and supported denying undocumented immigrants state or local benefits (more Deedsy DINOism here)
Maybe he forgot Harry Truman’s dictum that “Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time.” Or as Alpa Chino said to Kirk Lazarus in Tropic Thunder, “Just … BE … Australian!”
omg its a sin now to vote for english only . and if you do your a bad guy . last time i looked do we live in the u.s . . please keep thinking like nobama . 1 year to go and counting .
I agree if you are going to run then do not run away from your past positions.Makes it hard to be credible
That’s pretty funny logic considering those are the same points his Republican opponent ran on – AND WON!!!
I feel that as Democrats we need to seek out the “big tent” and welcome more moderate members of our party if we want to win in 2010. We need to reach out to Democratic Christians who may not support Gay marriage, all types of abortion rights and other wedge issues. We should stay focused on what we all have in common as Democrats and welcome more conservative members of our party.
Yes, pass cap and trade (Americans love high gas prices and want to pay more to heat and cool their homes), give us the public option (Most Americans already like their health care options, but we know better), and pass the Employee Free Choice Act (who says a secret ballot is a big deal?).
I guarantee massive GOP victories if these pass.
dave they will lose the house as soon as stretch face pelosi and nobama try to ram this down and if he signs it . the people DONT WANT THIS .
