Longtime community and civic leader Alfredo Amezcua has decided to run for Mayor of Santa Ana. Below is an invitation to his upcoming campaign fundraiser.
Dear Colleagues and Friends…
By now you know that after overwhelming encouragement from many of you, I have decided to run for Mayor of the City of Santa Ana. On Friday, November 20, 2009, I will host my first, intimate fundraiser at the Libreria Martinez for my close colleagues and friends. I am sending you this invitation because it is of utmost importance that we make a strong, early showing of support…
You are cordially invited to spend an evening with Alfredo Amezcua to discuss the future of Santa Ana, on Friday, November. 20, 2009.

Alfredo was a great supporter of the Students at Santa Ana College and will be a great asset to the City of Santa Ana. His leadership and experience within our district is well known and noted and the Students of Santa Ana College are one of his strongest supporters in his run for the office of Mayor of Santa Ana. The Current mayor has not been present or in support of the student leadership here at the college and it has been duly noted by all student leadership at SAC.
Do you mean former gang banger, ambulance & skirt chasing lawyer Al Amesqua? This is a joke right? The only thing better for Pulido would be running against Rocco!
If he was serious about running he would have done so when he was still on the college board so he could use that as a ballet designation. What’s he going to list now, lawyer? Lame.
I don’t know why for sure but whenever I have talked to Al, I left him feeling like I needed to take a shower.
I think Al is a nice guy and I wish he would run for school board but I honestly don’t think he is ready for the City Council or Mayor. I also am not sure he has the fire in the belly to put up with the political attacks he will get if he does run. I hope he runs for college board again.
I GOT MY MONEY ON PULIDO! ALFREDO DOES NOT HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL!!!
I dont blame, the man for not supporting the students. Ur all lame & dumb bunch of wanna be’s and k****** A** ….
“By the way .” Mark my words, ur all a bunch of fulls … Pulido I hope you win!!!
Alfredo has done so much for this city. Miguel and his croonies will try to act like they are better than apple pie but look at this city. This city is a mess due to our current leadership. Even Michele has sold her soul to Pulido. Alfredo has been a part of this community for over 30 years. He will do a great job.
“Even Michele has sold her soul to Pulido. Alfredo has been a part of this community for over 30 years. He will do a great job.”
Michele may have sold her soul to Pulido but she give up other less spiritual parts of herself to Al years ago after a few Eggnogs at the Metzler’s X-mas party! She’s still “bonded” to Al and will do whatever she can to help him.
Will Denis DeSnoo be handling his campaign? I believe he has done all his previous campaigns. Al would do well to get a job with the D.A.’s office if he’s serious. The Lawyer ballot designation is a terrible but D.A. worked for Claudia.
Dear Art,
Has the Mayor said if he’s running for re-election or not? Which other Councilmembers might run and how would you handicap the race if a Claudia or a Sal or a Carlos decided to run? Could Al beat a sitting councilmember with a ballot designation of “Councilmember” vs Al with “lawyer”?
Financial sources(total revenues) For Anaheim and Santa Ana from :
-fees and permits
-local taxes
-transfers from(to) other funds
-intergovernmental
-intragovernmental service changes
– all other revenues
for 2008 shows Anaheim to exceed Santa Ana’s by $30 million. This is in spite of that Santa Ana is not a tourist destination.
Anaheim with relatively the same tax revenues of Santa Ana is able to manage it’s majority Hispanic population, the tourist crowds – in the millions annually, it’s infrastructure, Attract the world series and other types of entertainment, PROVIDE A FLOAT FOR THE ROSE PARADE AS OTHER ORANGE COUNTY CITIES DO and provide public services at a significant higher level than Santa Ana.
Why can Anaheim do all this with a majority Hispanic population and Santa Ana be at the bottom of the barrel in all categories compared to all of the other cities in Orange County?
It is very clear, BAD LEADERSHIP-BAD MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!
SANTA ANA NEEDS NEW LEADERSHIP IN ORDER TO CATCH UP WITH THE OTHER OC CITIES.
Afredo Amezcua, through his proven leadership, I believe will provide the economic and educational opportunities, to all the residents of Santa Ana, necessary for Santa Ana to become the GEM of Orange County.
#7…..A fool boasts of those who fear him!
Vicent Sarmiento 4 Santa Ana Mayor !!! 4 get Aflredo he is really old……..
666,
Is age the extent of your rational in choosing, not ability to improve???????? Alfredo is similar in age to Pulido. Besides Vince is supporting Pulido for Mayor.
1) Pres. Alex Flores seems like a swell kid.
2) Yes Doc, Anaheim has Latinos but it doesn’t look like 4th street in Santa Ana (aka T.J. North) on the streets surrounding Disneyland. If you are ok with evicting all of the low brow Mexican businesses in the Downtown and then spending massive amounts of government funds (like Anaheim has over the years) than we can create a Disneyland in downtown Santa Ana too. You may not support that though Doc because then there will not be the big numbers of illegals pouring in with rotten teeth willing to overpay for your services or willing to buy the Catholic chotskies sold by Sam Romero, or the medicinal herbs from the Which Doctors on Broadway. Now it’s clear that Al Amezqua has the ” Viva La Raza” vote so if that’s what Santa Ana residents want, they know who to vote for.
#16,
You come across as a moronic bigot. Your sense of politics is personal attacks at those that support your candidate’s adversary. How childish. I wonder if Pulido feels proud of having your kind of support? If so the Hispanic community should take notice of “BIGOTS FOR PULIDO”
Taking the way you rationalize your world, I can use your wording and say:
“NOW IT’S CLEAR THAT MIGUEL PULIDO HAS THE “BIGOTS FOR PULIDO” VOTE SO IF THAT IS WHAT SANTA ANA RESIDENTS DO NOT WANT, THEY KNOW WHO TO VOTE FOR(VOTE FOR AMEZCUA).
The point #16 is that the problems with Santa Ana are due to bad management from the current Mayor. The appearance of Santa Ana is due to lack of economic and educational opportunity for ALL due to actions and non actions from the current Mayor and has nothing to do with illegals or Mexican businesses in downtown. As pointed out by Anaheim having a Hispanic majority population with illegals and Mexican businesses… can prosper and Santa Ana can not.
Alfredo has a diverse support base not only Hispanics. Only group he lacks is your group of bigots..and that is good.
It seems that #16 has cracked the code and exposed the Amezqua campaign for what it is, an opportunity to line the pockets of those who make their livelihood off of illegal immigration in Santa Ana. I guess that would include Dentist’s who don’t seem to want Santa Ana voters to understand their true agenda. They may be a tad more sophisticated than Nativo Lopez, but Amezqua and his followers are no less dangerous to the future of the city. I don’t like all of what Puldio and the Council have done, but I’ll be looking for a more mainstream candidate for Mayor. I’ll vote for a candidate who wants the best for all Santa Ana residents, not just the Mexicans. Al makes his money selling legal services to illegal aliens. His ads are all over the Spanish language newspapers. How does Al (and 4th street Dentists) make more money? He makes sure that we increase the number of businesses catering to this group and push out any remaining hopes of establishing a stable middle class in our city. I’m going to look for a candidate for Santa Ana Mayor who does not stand to profit by our city becoming MORE Third World, if that is possible!
I have worked with Mr. Amezqua for years on Santa Ana Chamber issues and more recently with the Santa Ana Business Bank. He is not only a selfless worker for all Santa Ana residents but also a very kind person. While I don’t live in Santa Ana and cannot vote, I would encourage all Santa Ana residents to give him your consideration. I hope that Mr. Metzler and Chamber other boardmembers will endorse Mr. Amezqua as a sign of the need for change in the city.
#18,
If you believe #16 has anything to expose other than his/her bigot nature then you are like him/her or you are #16.
Santa Ana has become Third World in appearance by design.
Pulido and his supporters have done so for political and economic manipulation. No doubt you are in this crowd.
“Al makes his money selling legal services to illegal aliens. His ads are all over the Spanish language newspapers. How does Al (and 4th street Dentists) make more money? He makes sure that we increase the number of businesses catering to this group and push out any remaining hopes of establishing a stable middle class in our city.”
This a perfect example of how Pulido and supportes like you demonize Hispanics in order to devide Santa Ana residents for political and economic manipulation.
By advertising in Spanish papers you believe that Spanish readers are illegal…a belief of a Bigot.
Servicing Mexicans residents in your mind means… “push out any remaining hopes of establishing a stable middle class in our city.”…How ridiculous and racist of you!!!!!
I understand this is the strategy of Pulido and supporters like you as a solution to drive Hispanics out of the city. THE STRATEGY IS DO AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE TO SERVICE THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY. ANY DEVELOPMENT CURRENTLY IN THE CITY IS TO MINIMIZE SERVICING THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY. The idea is that by doing this two things will be accomplished. Hispanics for lack of services will leave Santa Ana and these actions against Hispanics will solidify the Bigot vote for Pulido.
Some Pulido voters do not understand the agenda but believe the propaganda like #18 and #16 causing support and votes for Pulido due to fear of their Hispanic neighbors.
The appearance of third world is a result of not offering economic and educational opportunity to All of the residents. You need to offer this to All in order to increase the middle class of the city.
It is precisely this that Alfredo intends to correct. If you want a large middle class in Santa Ana then you need to drop your bigotry and support Alfredo Amezcua.
Pulido and his supporters have a history of excluding Hispanics, Blacks and Asians from economic opportunity and accesses to equal city services.
Alfredo Amezcua understands this behavior is detrimental to the vitality of Santa Ana. His vision is what this city is in great need of. A CANDIDATE THAT WILL REPRESENT ALL THE RESIDENTS OF SANTA ANA INCLUDING YOU #18 AND #16.
No offense but these staged campaigns really demoralize those who really love this city.
Where is this man’s website?
and rumors are -that its all one team in Santa Ana. They are all buddies and that’s that.
So lets just observe the motions here and well keep hoping for a miracle— even if that miracle takes place in knocking sense into whoever is in power and leadership –or city mgmt. But its almost become human nature to be self seeking and blind to the American peoples’ needs.
Doc — cut the b.s and run against both -relocate to S.A and cut the strings that tie you to that same “one team” you have it in you to be a leader!
You can easily relocate to S.A and keep a weekend home outside of S.A.
Meanwhile, good businesses and good ppl just keep exiting Santa Ana as they become saddened by the waste of opportunity and the lack of inclusion.
?
Just in Time,
Alfredo’s website is under construction. Should be up in 1-2 weeks maybe sooner.
I do not understand what you mean by staged campaigns.
In order to contribute, seek solutions and offer opinions on civic, business, education and culture associated with Santa Ana individuals need to be civil and be able to have good working relationships with others.
These types of relationships do not mean that it is all one team in Santa Ana.
If I thought or knew that the two current Mayoral candidates were to provide the same affect on the city I would not be supporting Amezcua.
Thank you for your trust and confidence in me. I am involved within the city outside my profession at different levels mostly community awareness. I have no interest in anything outside this…thanks.
Please support Alfredo, I believe he has the answers to improve the city that we all love.
PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO VOTE FOR ALFREDO AMEZCUA.
Just waded through 23 responses. Whew! Boys and Girls, you need a time out.

Now who will Metzler and Greater….or Chamber endorse?
Who are Mr. Aimesqua’s endorsements?
this new candidate needs to list his major endorsements
this will present him as either a strong opponent or
more of the same as someone previously mentioned.
hello,
anybody there any endorsements????
#27,
Try this post: http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/notes-from-the-banana-republic/can-alfredo-amezcua-take-down/
You will see quite a few big names in town are backing Amezcua.
so its Ruben Martines, America Bracho, Amin from Anaheim
anymore endorsements from SanTAna? where is Aimescua’s web-site?
America should have all the non profits following her endorsement of Mr. A?
how bout a Orangejuice Mayoral Debate
a series of three would be good. It can be held at
a public place like the Bowers theatre
