As the information age continues to explode it has been our pleasure to be part of the next generation of news sources with our Orange Juice posts and responses to your comments.
Thanks to each of you, readers and writers alike, for turning Art’s dream into a reality.
Art Pedroza founded the Orange Juice blog in July of 2003 when blogs were a new concept [beginning in 1998].
Today represents a new milestone for Art. The Orange juice blog has just posted its 6,000th article. Note: I have saved #6,000 for Art. This is post #5,999.
There have been several Juice writers, past and present, whose challenge was and continues to provide stories and commentary on a wide spectrum of topics.
For those who are regular readers of this blog there is one fact that cannot be denied.
We come from all walks of life and political ideologies as evidenced by our unique selection of topics and style. On occasion we even add comments to each others posts if we feel it to be warranted.
As of Dec 2007 there were over 100 million blogs around the globe including those cybernauts working underground in far off places like mainland China. Today you can use any smart phone and connect to the Internet to access blog websites.
For those unfamiliar with this news medium here’s some background data:
The Blogosphere The collective community of all blogs is known as the blogosphere. Since all blogs are on the internet by definition, they may be seen as interconnected and socially networked, through blogrolls, comments, linkbacks (refbacks, trackbacks or pingbacks) and backlinks. Discussions “in the blogosphere” are occasionally used by the media as a gauge of public opinion on various issues. Because new, untapped communities of bloggers can emerge in the space of a few years, Internet marketers pay close attention to “trends in the blogosphere”
Many mainstream journalists, meanwhile, write their own blogs — well over 300, according to CyberJournalist.net’s J-blog list. The first known use of a blog on a news site was in August 1998, when Jonathan Dube of The Charlotte Observer published one chronicling Hurricane Bonnie.
On behalf of the entire Juice family let us again thank you for partnering with us over the past six years. As they say in air travel you do have other choices to get your daily dose of news. Thanks for including us in your Internet travels.
That’s quite a feat. Congratulations Art and everybody else.
Whew! Makes my fingers hurt just thinking about all those posts! 🙂 Congrats to all for providing an excellent, diverse public forum.
Larry,
Incredible! Thanks for noting this milestone.
It is fitting that Vern put up the 6,000 post. He and yourself represent very well what our blog is all about!
Whoops! bump me up i don’t mind… Should be something special on 6000.
Vern,
Not at all! Your post WAS special. And I hope our readers do take time to call Senator Correa. Derail the sale!
Thank you Art for providing an interesting read each day. I used to read other O.C. Blogs but they became boring as they got bigger. I like the fun way you look at local politics and other subjects unafraid of what others might say. Art’s dream is alive and well and I know Art and the others will be around for a very long time. Congrats!
You’ve got to be joking if you think what passes for “news” in this blog is legitimate news. It’s nothing more than a collection of rants and raves from dissafected malcontents and cry babies. Blogs are glorified gossip papers like the Sun or National Enquirer and have unfortunately given a platform for all the whiners of the world to spew their nonsense. Although entertaining to read, this drivel should not be considered news nor should readers supplant these entertainment stories for legitimate news investigated by journalists working within their professional standards and ethics. Any tool with an axe to grind can start a blog and publish complete falsehoods with no apparent regard for journalistic integrity or accuracy.
Hector. Nice to hear from you. A quick question. Why are you here if you are not impressed with our posts?
Investigative coverage. I take offense to that charge. You are clueless as to how many hours we spend researching and posting news accounts.
Hmm. While I have not been tracking the number of your comments on this blog over the past 6 years, I can report that we have had over 57,000 comments posted which confirms that this blog web site is where many readers are anxious to share their pro and con views.
Yup. You want journalistic integrity and accuracy.
Again, please, please provide your web site so we can all check out your rock solid stories.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Yes, anyone can start a blog. That being said please notify us as to where we can read your professional articles. We would gladly encourage our readers to visit your site.
Congrats on the milestones to all.
Art,
Ive also noticed that twitter has eliminated the Bot that was being run by Phil and Claudio and Thomas Gordon.
Paul,
Yes, it took some time but I finally shut them down. They violated Twitter’s Terms of Service.
Thanks for the kudos!
Congratulations Art, somehow you managed to create the right balance of news/entertainment, local/national and left/right opinions to make this blog a fun and interesting internet destination. And judging by all the other blogs in the county, that is no small feat.
Hector, I would assume that most readers of this blog do not consider it their main “news” source, but rather a place to express their opinions about the topics of the day unfiltered (if you have ever written a Letter to the Editor you know what I mean).
Terry and Art, on a housekeeping note; is it possible to return the monthly archive to the search feature (some old posts are easier to find that way)?
