Cal State Fullerton -Irvine Campus had been one of the few projects at El Toro MCAS that was actually happening. CSUF has been steadily adding classes since opening in 2002. As with all things Great Park, great sums have been spent creating pretty pictures, er “Design.”

Now that we're not going to build it, can we get the design money back?
Too bad that Cal State Fullerton students are being told by their counselors that CSUF-I is closing down. CSUF-I is a great idea. I hope it makes it in the future. But whatever future entity finds the money to resurrect CSUF-I will have their own agenda and their own needs, and therefore will need their own plan. A new plan means a new design phase, so most of the “world class” planning expenditure for CSUF-I has been wasted.
But hey, we still have a fading Great Park balloon that has cost tax payers over $50 per rider – and already needs a half-million dollar replacement.
I love the Great Pumpkin! Money well-spent!
I went to the great gardening classes held at the Great Park site…which unlike other nursery’s the teachers were not into marketing but into giving the public the real answers and real solutions to issues. I appreciate the opportunity for a non-commercialized space in Orange County. Where else can you find that?
Red Robin
Red robin,
I agree with you. I went to the first gardening class there and really enjoyed what they had to offer. I also spent a few evenings during the summer with their music and dancing events. They were thoughtfully put together and they were FUN!
Tyler is just a debbie downer. The Great Park will soon begin spending 65 million dollars and CREATE JOBS locally as it expands. It is an exciting project and I expect for the park to get better and better as the plans become reality.
Thanks for your comments and personal experiences! Welcome to OJ 😉
