Well, it’s official. Linda Ackerman the wife of our former State Senator and Assemblyman, Dick, has decided to run in a special election to replace the Ackermans’ old pal, disgraced perv Mike Duvall, for the 72nd Assembly seat now vacated by the latter.
Mrs. Ackerman has a few things going for her, including a lot of contacts with big money and a husband who knows a lot of people; and she made it pretty clear to Martin Wisckol at the Register that she intends an amicable relationship with all those Redevelopment interests. She also has zero political record so that it would be pretty hard for an opponent to go negative on her record – she hasn’t got any. And as a woman – possibly the only woman on the Republican ballot – she could get a gender boost.
But she’s got some practical problems, too. First off, she doesn’t live in the 72nd District and although she doesn’t seem to think living in Irvine for the past decade is an encumbrance, we’re not too sure that many north countians won’t resent a carpetbagger. So she’s gotta move – presumably to Fullerton – and set up a temporary residence, at least though a primary. Read more.
I wonder if Linda will perform like her husband DICK, who stayed far away from the Foothill fire.
As I recall he showed up for the photo opp. 4 days later with the Gov. DICK was really concerned about his constituents—NOT.
This is just another sham and the folks in the 72nd should say nicks to another DICK.

Dick Ackerman was a self-serving, deal cutting sell out.This is the guy who along with Joe Dunn tried to move the court of appeals out of Santa Ana (the County seat of Gov.) to the UC Irivne campus. Why? Big bucks from alumni and regents for future endeavors vs. little money from Santa Ana voters.
His wife will be no different.For this special election she would be a carpetbagger having to lie to say she lived in the distrtict by renting a 1 bedroom appartment to qualify. She has no public voting record other than supporting whatever her husband told her to do locally to advance his agenda. WARNING TO SANE REPBULICANS: She is totally the “establishment’s” choice (Baugh and a few cohorts) which should be rubbing a lot of committee members the wrong way. It will be fun to watch the Baugh/Ackerman agenda fracture the OCGOP even more. I can’t wait to watch them try to shove her down the committee’s throat. Baugh & Co. should get a good spanking on this one.
I believe Linda’s hair is turning blue as well. How old is she?
